Product Description:
Recombinant antibodies have made a tremendous impact on biomedical
research and are increasingly being used as clinical diagnostic and
therapeutic reagents. The discovery of the tumor markers, opened a
new era in the development of antibody-targeted cancer therapy. This
book evaluates the potential of recombinant derivatives of an anti-MUCI
and an anti- ErbB2 Mabs to serve as tools for breast cancer
detection and therapy. To explore the potential of Mabs in
antibody-targeted cancer therapy, a novel IgG-toxin immunoconjugate
is described. This work provides evidences that bivalent
antibody-toxin molecules (200 kDa) are superior to the corresponding
recombinant monovalent immunotoxins (69 kDa) in killing tumor cells
in culture and human carcinoma xenografts in nude mice, suggesting
that higher avidity and longer residence time may outweigh tumor
penetration. |

Product Description: When
Diana Ballinger was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had no idea
what lay ahead. The surgery, crippling side-effects of chemo and
radiation, and the emotions that threatened to boil over pushed her
to write for her life. This mother and wife feared she couldn't
fight cancer and fulfill her family and work responsibilities. She
dealt with the disfigurement, loss of employment and the travails of
insurance by writing poetry. Ballinger knew she was more than her
breast cancer. She wanted her daughter to have a normal life while
she underwent treatment and she was determined to make that happen. |

Product Description: Breast
Cancer is the most common tumor in women and the second leading
cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Due to breakthroughs in gene
profiling, the knowledge of the pathophysiology of the mammary gland
had greatly increased over the last decade. In Breast Cancer in the
Post Genomic Era, Antonio Giordano, Nicola Normanno, and a panel of
international authorities in their field provide a comprehensive
approach to the biology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of
human breast carcinoma. |

Product Description:
Cancer and the Search for Lost Meaning also contains fascinating
conclusions about what the lessons of this work can offer in terms
of how we view human life and existence. The book makes a powerful
case that cancer is a by-product of the sense of loss and lack of
meaning in modern society and that healing cancer involves healing
that sense of meaninglessness—a process that can lead to a deeper
understanding of, and connection to, life. |

Product Description:
"Testicular Cancer" explores the various forms of the disease,
discusses its detection, diagnosis, and treatment, and gives an
overview of current clinical and laboratory research. This
relatively rare form of cancer is seen most often in young men in
their late teens, 20s, and 30s. The disease, which once killed most
patients, now has a survival rate greater than 90 percent, making it
one of the success stories in the history of cancer treatment.
Important historical research breakthroughs in the fight against
testicular cancer are highlighted, as well as important questions
and challenges facing scientists in the future. |
