Summer is just fraught with hair danger, and prevention is key.

Drying and thinning of hair is a common feature, especially during summers and it is very important that due care is followed to protect it from the summer heat and the sun rays. During the summer season hair turn dull and lusterless lacking nourishment. Sun rays- namely the UVA and UVB can both damage the hair in a variety of ways. The UVA rays can burn the hair cuticle which is the outer hair layer. The cuticle contains a web of tiny overlapping scales. When the the scales are damaged they can not lay flat, like they are supposed to, and will look lifeless, brittle and dry. UVA rays can also burn and damage unprotected scalp. It is even possible to burn the part of your hair where scalp is unprotected. UVA rays can damage the skin on the scalp in many ways and activate free radicals which accelerates aging. A several sunburn on the scalp has even been known to cause some cases of hair loss.

Hair texture varies from each individual and an array of factors contribute to hair loss including cosmetics, shampoo, conditioners, sweat and stress.

Tips to take care of your Hair During Summer

  1. Massage your Hair- Warm oil massage helps the hair roots to get stronger and can prevent hair fall. Use some essential oils to massage the scalp. You will love its fragrance and it will calm your senses. Massage with warm oil thrice a week and you will notice a remarkable change in your hair quality. It also increases the blood circulation to your scalp making the hair roots stronger.
  2. Hydrate Yourself- Drink lots of water and healthy fluids like coconut water and fruit juices. Include water-rich foods like cucumber to stay hydrated. This will hydrate your body and keeps it cool, which in turn supplies the right amount of nutrients and strength to your hair to prevent hair loss.

  1. Avoid Frequent Hair styling: Hair Treatments like, hair styling and hair coloring etc lead to the hair loss. The hair styles pull the hair from the root and hair colors contains the chemical components like ammonia etc. do harm to the hair.
  2. Strive for a Healthy diet: Unbalanced diet leads to the hair loss. Make sure to check for the proteins, vitamin E, omega 3 fatty acids, and silica rich foods in your diet. Try to exclude fast food, fried meat and carbonated drinks. Stop smoking and taking hot beverages.
  3. Shampoo regularly- The powerful sun rays can easily tune the hair to brittle and dry, if you really want to escape that condition using a mild shampoo will be one way. Do not use the hard one though it is proven to be best in removing the dirt from hair. Go with a mild one.
  1. Condition to protect your hair- People who prefer to do a deep condition in the summer days can have the clearest route to jump from the mistake of making the hair sticky that caused due to the excessive sweating. Do deep conditioning to protect your hair and to retain it smooth and shiny.
  2. Go fo Regularly Trimming- Summer is just another best time for the split ends to come up because of the inevitable dryness. These splits ends simply drop the good hair looks you have polished on the hair. So manage splits through cutting them regularly when they pop out. Also make sure to apply oil like coconut oil to the hair tips after you have done with cutting the split ends.

  1. Cover it up to Avoid Direct Sun Rays: If you cannot refrain from staying in the direct rays of the sun then take the help of anything that can protect the hair from the sun rays. Use a cotton scarf or  a hat that is having tiny holes will helps your scalp from the sweating problem.
