Indian Dental Association (IDA) under the banner of 'Bright
Smiles Bright Future' are organising various programmes
supported by Colgate Palmolive India Private Limited during
the Oral Health Weeks.
It is a month-long activity celebrating completion of Indian
dental association -Colgate, Bright Smile Bright Future
Programme. October 2004 has been identified as the
IDA-Colgate Oral Health Month this year, says Dr Subash
Chandra Reddy, President, IDA in a press conference held
here yesterday.
He said that free public dental health checkup camps are
organised in 10 different centres across Chennai. In each
centre 10 dentists have been deputed and camps will be held
in Chennai on two consecutive weekends - 9 & 10 and 16 & 17
October 2004, he said. He also said that free dental
check-up, education and training for slum population would
be taken up by the association.
Explaining various social activities conducted by Chennai
branch of IDA in dental care, he said as a part of
maintaining continuity in the dissemination of dental care
information to the school-going children, a training
programme for about 100 primary and middle school teachers
in health care was conducted in Chennai in July 2004.
Dr Reddy noted that free dental health checkups are being
held at various government and private schools
