Ineta Radevica: Exceptionally Talented Latvian athlete World Bronze Medalist in the long jump Reveals her Success Mantra "Be consistent in everything you do"

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
I love oils. I use oil everywhere. On my hair, on my skin, in my salad, I even use oil instead of the shoe shine sometimes:)... almond, tea-tree, grape seed, Argan: you name it - I have it, but my absolute favorite is Latvian eco cosmetics product RADIANT ENERGY ORGANIC FACIAL OIL -A radiance-boosting concentrate of 9 rare and precious dry oils that gives the skin a luxurious youthful glow. For the hair I religiously use ESPA pink hair and sculp mud.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding girl athletes who all are your fans, they shall like to know from you, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in the field of women long jump and triple jump?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
Be consistent in everything you do, develop a routine. The longer the period of time you sustain your daily routine -the higher the achievement.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
How did you feel before and after your memorable wining the bronze medal in 2011 World Championships in Daegu South Korea with a result of 6.76 meters long jump?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
I was very stressed during the period of last preparation before Daegu. In order to get acclimated to the different time zone and climate I had a training camp far east in Russia -away from the family. I felt very lonely. Right after the competition I was exhausted to the point that I hardly remember the awards ceremony.

But what I learned is that even in the most stressful situations one must hold posture, reach for the inner strength that each and every person with the dream that is deep within and remind yourself that even the hardest of times do pass and if you are able to stay true to your dream there will come a moment when you'll feel like your lungs are filled with the freshest air and you have the wings. It is how I feel every time I look at my bronze medal from the world championships 2011.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
You must had your fair share of injuries in the sports of your choice i.e. long jump and triple jump. How you were able to overcome these physical injury/setback and what advice you can give to fellow sports person in a similar situation?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
I was very lucky and only had some minor injuries. My advise is to surround yourself with the knowledgeable professionals who never stop learning and truly care for their work and for you. I believe the key is to go through all the developmental stages with patience.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
At the 2012 Summer Olympics London, United Kingdom you were placed fourth, with Janay DeLoach finishing just one centimeter ahead of you. Elaborate your experience on this exceptional performance?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
It was a disappointment but not a tragedy. After the last jump, when I stepped out of the jumping pit and saw on a display that I finished 4th, I realized that my head is spinning and I do not feel the ground underneath. I saw my husband, Petr Schastlivy, running down the stairs towards me. He hugged me and held me for a while. He is a professional ice hockey player and had his right ACL torn twice.

The second time was during the ice hockey world champs in 2007 in Moscow. He was a team captain but had to discontinue playing. He had a surgery in Florida at Dr. Andrews Institute and needed 6 months to recover and train at the Athletes Performance Center. I cancelled the whole 2007 outdoor season to be by his side. At the Athletes Performance is where I met coach Russell Orr, who later played a very important role in my career...So in London when I was literally hanging on my husbands neck, I told him that now I feel like all my ligaments are torn and all I have is his neck to hold on to. It was the moment I realized that love is the only thing worth fighting for and if you have it nothing feels like failure and matters more.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Who has been your biggest influence and motivation in your path to success?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
My mother who was a long jumper herself but finished jumping at the age of 20 when I was born and became a coach. She was my first coach but she never ever made me feel like athletics is something I should do. She never pushed me but was always there to help. When I had my first baby she quit her coaching job at sports school where she worked for more than 25 years to travel with me around the world and look after me and my son at the training camps. When she made the decision to sacrifice her coaching career to be with me and the family, she gave me very powerful motivation. It made me give 100 % at every practice and search for ways to give more.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have done bold photo shoots with playboy in "Women of the Olympics" edition in September 2004. How you are so body confident and advice to your compatriots?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
When I was growing up I heard too many times that it is wrong for a girl to do sports. I believe there are many stereotypes about the body of an athlete and it's luck of femininity, so when I found out that the goal of the magazine is to do a photo shoot with 8 females participating in different Olympic sports and to show that women come in all types and shapes no matter the profession, I agreed.

I believe that nothing can stop us from feeling, looking and being confident. And exercise is what makes us confident. Many obstacles such as fear of judgment, embarrassment over sporting ability, worries about appearance can be overcome by exercising on the territory where you are most comfortable with yourself.

Start in your room or your backyard, do not wait for the conditions to be perfect. And if you have children do not criticize yourself for taking time away from them in order to do something for yourself. When I ask my two kids what is their favorite part of the day they often say that it is running the stairs to our 4th floor apartment after I pick them up from the kindergarten. And my fitness routine is what helps me compete with them at getting to the door faster:)!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:
With exceptional hard work you are credited with all your achievements. Do you believe that does the hand of Providence (Supreme Being) played a role in your success?

Ms. Ineta Radevica:
I do. God knows what's best for us and with this believe I accepted my fourth place at the Olympics. Sometimes I wake up at night remembering the last Olympics of my lifetime and the fact that I lacked just 1 cm to get a medal. I do not ask "why?" I ask "what?" What was God trying to tell me? And the answer is to close one chapter in life and to open a new one and use all the previous experience to finish on top this time.

I feel like my Olympic dream did not come true to keep me hungry and make me help other women fulfill their dreams. And as the confirmation to that is the fact that I was recently elected to the EOC GE commission. The aim of the commission is to raise awareness for the gender equality in sport through collecting and publishing best practices of the projects related to the issue, creating and developing seminars to enhance the competencies of women and girls in the areas of leadership and management, to organize forums and training's for sports media with emphasis on better coverage of women in sport.

We call for the promotion of positive images of women in leadership positions and for the breakdown of societal stereotypes. Our goal is to develop a program where a number of women from different professions mentor athletes across several areas, like law or contract negotiations or financial management. We want every female athlete to have all of the information and experts they need in order to be successful, organize the seminars about how to handle their life off the sports field. We truly welcome and are open to any advice and suggestions. I would appreciate the womenfitness. net audience participation (my contact is [email protected])
