(Ivanhoe Newswire) -- Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce are
famous for theirs. Today, many Americans splurging on cosmetic surgery don't
just want to put their best face forward. A growing number of people are more
concerned with other assets … like their backsides.
Buttock rejuvenation is gaining interest among plastic surgery-goers, especially
with those who have lost a substantial amount of weight. While the number of
breast implants, liposuction, tummy tucks and facelifts all decreased from 2007
to 2008, butt augmentation increased nearly 10 percent. Last year, more then
3,500 buttock lifts and 853 buttock implants were performed, according to the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons. They're up 162 percent since 2000.
Anna Pagani dropped 140 pounds after having gastric bypass surgery, but was
unhappy with her figure when the weight fell off. She opted for a fat graft to
plump up her backside.
"It gave it a very good shape," Pagani told Ivanhoe. "[It] made it more even,
more rounded. Losing the weight and then fixing all the problems that were left
from the overweight, it just makes me feel better. It makes me feel more
confident."
