Sponge Cake With Chocolate Custard

Ingredients

  • 2 egg chocolate sponge cake a few black grapes - cut into halves

  CHOCOLATE CUSTARD

  • 2 cups skimmed milk

  • 2.5 tbsp corn flour

  • 4 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp cocoa

    Directions

  • Dissolve corn flour & cocoa in 1/2 cup in milk.

  • Heat 1.5 cups of milk with sugar in a small heavy bottomed pan. When it boils,   add the corn flour & cocoa mixture stirring continuously.

  • Boil for 3-4 minutes on medium flame, stirring continuously, till thick.
    Cool. Add essence.

  • Crumple the chocolate cake slightly to break it into small bits.

  • Spread half of the cake in a serving dish.

  • Pour half of the hot custard over it.

  • Sprinkle half of the grapes.

  • Again spread some bits of cake. Pour the left over custard. Set in the fridge.

  • When cold, sprinkle some grapes. Serve.

  Nutritional Information

A sponge cake has no fat in it, served with a chocolate custard prepared with skimmed milk makes it a low calorie desert.
