We don’t need to sell you on the value of standing – you get it. Longer life, calories burned, stronger muscles, the list goes on. The team at Standable wants to take this new way of working and make a small, but critical, change to what you know today, to help you get the most out of your decision to stand.
To get the most out of standing at work, you want your eyes straight ahead and your arms at a 90 degree angle to your keyboard.
When one of the founders, Eugene, injured his back, was advised to stand more at work and decided to upgrade to an actual standing desk but found that current options had several limitations:
Why other desks may not be the right fit:
- Many products only offer a single tray, allowing you to stand but messing up your posture. You end up doing either the T-Rex or getting a big ‘ol pain in your neck from looking down at where your screen is. Either way, either your arms or your neck end up in pain.
- Even many desktop accessories that do offer a second tray, don’t allow for sufficient customization of the distance between where you are typing and looking and, while better, still not really optimal.
Finally, if you do find an option that is fully customizable, it is often very large, ver expensive – or both.
So instead of making yet another one of these fancy desks out there with all sorts of gadgets and configurations, we decided to keep it simple and design a product that solves the pain points we had identified, does beautifully and makes the transition between sitting and standing a simple matter of seconds.
This small change makes a big difference. If you’re going to make the effort to stand, you may as well get the full value of standing with a desk that fits you correctly.
Standable has two adjustable shelves that can easily be placed exactly where you need your eyes and your arms to be and a design that makes it easy to look at and add to your existing desk. As a bonus, in their upcoming Kickstarter campaign, the introductory price is far below any other comparable desktop accessory at $199.
