FRUIT CHUTNEY

(RICH FRUIT DIP)

Ingredients:

  • Apples - 175 gms; 

  • Pineapple - 175 gms; 

  • pears - 350 gms; sugar - 200 gms; 

  • onion seeds (kalonji) - 2 gms; 

  • aniseed (saunf) - 2 gms; 

  • red chillies (broken) - 2 Nos.; 

  • ginger julliennes - 3 gms; 

  • garlic flakes - 5 gms; 

  • almond flakes - 4 gms; 

  • bayleaf - 1no.; 

  • cloves - 3 nos; 

  • chilli powder - 1 gm; 

  • salt to taste; 

  • raisins - 5 gms; 

  • vinegar - 1 tsp.

Method :

  • Wash, peel, core and cut all the fruits into small cubes.

  • Bring one litre of water to boil in a pan; add sugar and continue boiling till you get a semi thick syrup.

  • Add chopped fruits and cook on a slow fire, stirring continuously till the fruits disintegrate and the mixture becomes thick.

  • Add the rest of the ingredients. Cook for a few more minutes. Remove from fire.

  • Cool mixture down, transfer into airtight containers and store in the fridge.

  • Use as a dip for creole idlis.
