Peel apples. Cut into equal halves. Remove seeds.

Boil water with sugar, lemon juice & dalchini.

Add the apple pieces. Cook, covered for 3-4 minutes till apples turn soft.

Remove the apples to a flat, round serving dish. Reserve the syrup.

To prepare the sauce, cool 1/2 cup syrup. Add custard power to this 1/2 cup syrup which should not be hot.

Boil the left over syrup with sugar in a clean pan.

Add the dissolved custard, stirring continuously.

Boil till translucent and slightly thick (3-4 minutes).

Pour the sauce over the apples placed in a serving dish.

Place a fresh cherry or a grape in the centre of each piece of apple. Chill.
NOTE : Pears (Nashpati) may be substituted for apples.
