Number of newly infected HIV patients sets record

TOKYO — The number of newly infected HIV patients between late March and late June came to 199, a record high for a three-month period, a health ministry panel said Monday.

The figure exceeded the previous high of 194, which was recorded in the October-December period last year, according to the panel of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. (Kyodo News)
