Beijing claims 'victory'
over SARS
11 May, 2004
Novartis BEIJING — Beijing has achieved a "victory" over SARS since it broke
out late last month, a city official said Monday, noting the stable health
of most patients and trust in the general public that authorities have
stopped the spread.
All but one of the seven people confirmed or suspected of contracting SARS
in Beijing since April 21 are getting by without breathing machines, a good
sign for recovery, and one has left the hospital, said Liang Wannian, vice
director of the Beijing Health Bureau. (Kyodo News)
