Hot Fitness Tip of the week

If you eat a low-fat diet in the hope of losing weight, you unintentionally make the problem of weightloss worse. If, like millions of women, you have eaten a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet for many years, or followed fad diets, the odds are good that you have become at least partially insulin resistant. Millions of women are trying the Atkins Diet or the South Beach Diet. While these diets are an improvement over the conventional low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet, they can worsen your metabolic problems, because dieting itself is stressful to the body. So many women need to heal their metabolism first before even considering weight loss.

Words of Inspiration

Visualize to Realize

You can't hit a target you cannot see! Create a visual picture of where you want to be, who you want to be, and you will become that person. How do you stay motivated? How do you keep on the right path?

You must see it before you can be it!

Create your very own visual picture. Make a collage of your goals, dreams, wishes and fantasies. Your mind does not know the difference between what is real or imagined. What you think about most you move towards.

There is an invisible gravitational force that directs you towards your thoughts. Your mind thinks in pictures; begin now to plant the visual images you wish to saturate your mind.

Mary Lou Rhetton saw herself winning her first gold medal long before she actually competed in the Olympics.

Your mind's eye is much more powerful than your physical eye's. See your goals in vivid detail -- meditate on them. Running, jumping, singing, playing, moving with less fat on your body. You are graceful, strong, powerful, energetic. You eat only healthy fuel.

The more specific your goals are the easier it is to visualize the process of attaining the goal and the stronger your belief will be in being able to accomplish the goal.

Strong belief is the catalyst to appropriate action. Belief strengthens your motivation and motivation stirs you to take the next important step....ACTION!

Yoga and Cholesterol Management

Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance found among lipids (fats) in the bloodstream and cells. Cholesterol isn't all bad. Our bodies use it to form cell membranes, for example. But too much cholesterol in the bloodstream can be unhealthy, and lead to coronary heart disease.

Yoga, uses exercises (asanas) to relax and tone the muscles and to massage the organs, breathing techniques (pranayam) to regulate the body's energy levels, meditations to calm the mind, and relaxation postures to reduce and eliminate stress and anxiety. The practice of yoga improves the blood and oxygen flow around the body which aids in the removal of toxins and waste. For yoga to be truly beneficial to the lowering of your unwanted bad cholesterol it must be practiced on a regular basis.

Yoga also reduces stress hormones, which in turn lowers cholesterol. That is why meditation is similar to yoga in its cholesterol-lowering power. Yoga will surely help you get rid of the cholesterol and you will be highly satisfied when after two months you go to check the level and find them impressively low. To bring down the ill effects of stress and its byproducts, a daily regime of meditation practices involving simple breathing techniques, and the use of deep meditative techniques practiced for at least 20 – 30 minutes daily can greatly bring about a feeling of good health and a significant lowering of cholesterol. Breathing exercises, meditation and poses namely the Kapalbhati Pranayama is the perfect combination for lowering cholesterol.
