Get to know more about this exotic beauty in her exclusive interview with Women Fitness President, Namita Nayyar.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Afiya you are rated as one of the easier models to keep track of because you chronicle just about everything on your blog! You have created a niche for yourself as a model. Introduce us to your journey that you have traveled to make a mark for yourself?

Ms. Afiya Bennett:

Modeling and my career mean the world to me and as you may be very well be aware of the fashion industry is constantly changing especially with the influence of social media and blogging. In this day and age you have to be much more than just a model. What is your brand? what do you value? With this in mind, one of my former agents recommended that I started a blog a few years ago just to show clients a little bit more about my self other than my portfolio. Little did I know that my blog would become my voice through my journey as model and so much . Not only has my blog given me a voice to clients but it has become a place that aspiring models can look at as a source inspiration and guidance.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You were recently a part of the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Casting. Share with us your experience getting this wonderful opportunity. How was your experience?

Ms. Afiya Bennett:

Casting for Sports Illustrated is one of the most nerve wrecking most exhilarating experiences I have gone through. The modeling industry has a way of making models feel less than at times. Whether it be your shoulders are too broad, your hips or breast are too big, you’re not the right complexion, or now “you don’t have a big enough following”. Whether it be one thing or another, Sports Illustrated has created a brand where they embrace the beauty of curves, body confidence, and most of all self love. I am more than honored that they would even consider me to be a part of their brand.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You share your everyday life, health tips, events, etc., on your blog afiyabennettblog.com. It is actually a great way for your fans to connect with you. What motivated you to start this blog?

Ms. Afiya Bennett:

Ironically, starting my blog started as a way to appease my former agent and it has transcended into so much more than that. It has become my tool for inspiring the next little girl behind me and showing them that if I can do it so can they, that their dreams are indeed possible. It has also become a place that I myself can document growth and look at as a place of encouragement. My blog shows me “wow look how far I have come”, but still igniting the fire under me and say “look how far I have to go.”

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Being a model, fitness must be of utmost importance in your life. Unfold the top 5 exercises you would rate as important as a part of one’s fitness regime? What would be your input for women urging for a model-type body?

Ms. Afiya Bennett:

My body is so tricky, if I work out too much I get too bulky and big but if I don’t work out then I don’t have any way to burn the food that I eat or maintain my abs. For me, working out twice a week and maintaining a great diet is the key to my fitness success. My top five exercises for one’s fitness regime is definitely 15 to 30 minutes of cardio on the precor, leg raises to target your lower abs and the little pudge on your tummy thats so hard to get off, Russian twists, side crushes, and side planks to really target the side abs. I love a long lean feminine but toned look so I try to focus more on side abs and lower abs more than the top. For women urging the model- type body, I would tell them to embrace their body and don’t get fixated on what you see in the magazines because it is always photoshopped. Focus on being their best and most importantly being healthy.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Adequate nutrition is an integral part of staying healthy. What diet do you recommend to stay healthy and physically fit? Share with our viewers your 5 favorite foods while traveling?

Ms. Afiya Bennett

To stay healthy and physically fit, I would recommend eating everything in moderation and not eating at-least 3 hours before one goes to bed. For me try your hardest to not drink soda, minimal juice, no junk food, limited carbs, and no red meat. If you do have these things don’t have a lot of them and always eat in portion sizes. My five favorite foods while traveling would be rice cakes with a little peanut butter, protein cookies, protein smoothies, kind bars, and oatmeal.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Having to attend so many social & modeling events, what are your 3 favorite tips for a red carpet sexy looks?

Ms. Afiya Bennett

I love attending red carpet events, the energy in the room is always so exciting and fulfilling. I think that the more events you go to, the more comfortable you feel in front of the cameras, and the less nervous you are about wondering how the images came out or even if you sounded okay in the interviews. My 3 favorite tips for red carpet sexy looks are to 1) walk in confident, owning the room. How you feel on the inside will be read on the carpet. You can have on the sexiest dress ever but if you are nervous or worried, it will read more than anything. 2) Make sure all of your tags and labels are tucked completely in before walking on the carpet. It has happened to me more than once that a little label or string will be a tiny bit out in the back even though I ask a million times if I look okay before walking the carpet. 3) Make sure you use the rest room before you put your dress on, theirs nothing like trying to rush your moment on the carpet for a potty run.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Healthy skin lies in a healthy body. You have glowing skin and beautiful, healthy hair – what skincare and hair care tips do you advocate in general?

Ms. Afiya Bennett

I have tried so many skincare routines over the years to see what works for me. None the less, I use ceraVe foaming facial wash in the morning, khiels dark spot corrector at night, and kheils facial moisturizer. These three products and getting laser hair removal every 5 weeks keeps my skin crystal clear.

I can definitely recommend all three. As for hair, it is definitely hard trying to maintain healthy long hair as a working model in this industry. However, castor oil seems to be my best friend when it comes to keeping my hair hydrated and growing.

With a following of over 106K on your Instagram account @afiyabennett you’re a social media sensation and an internet leading star. How does it feel to be a role model & an inspiration in influencing a healthy lifestyle of so many individuals? Also, share with our viewers your role in the social causes of heart disease, breast cancer etc.?

Ms. Afiya Bennett

I love that people look up to me in any form or fashion on social media. Having influence over the masses is one of the most powerful things that can be had. Now the honor comes in using your influence for the greater good. For me that means sharing awareness on Breast cancer and heart disease. As long as I am spreading a positive message and contributing to a cause that is giving back then I feel good.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Being a successful model, what tips can you provide for a newcomer who wishes to make a mark in the modeling industry?

Ms. Afiya Bennett

To any newcomers who wish to make a mark in this industry, I would tell them to stay true to themselves, often times we have a way of getting caught up in what the industry wants us to be that our self identity is lost. This is the error where embracing your difference is what allows you to shine and being different is what is going to take you to the top. Get to the top by staying true to who you are, never compromise that for anyone.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

WF team would love to have your input on our website Womenfitness.net and message for our visitors?

Ms. Afiya Bennett

For all of the visitors on womenfitness.net, I would tell them that they real goal is in being the best version of your self, not comparing yourself to anyone. Work out, eat healthy, and most of all strive to make a difference in this world.
