Check out as Actress Alexandra Paul reveals her fitness tips and shares her Baywatch Journey, in a candid interview with Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have appeared  in over 95 feature films and television programs and are internationally recognized for your 5-year starring role as Lt. Stephanie Holden in the TV Series BAYWATCH. You’ve recently launched your wellness coaching business and are a certified health and wellness coach. Tell us more about this spectacular journey?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I know firsthand the challenges of staying active and healthy, because as an actress I routinely worked 12 hour days on the set. But I  always made sure I got my workouts in and ate well no matter what was going on around me (sometimes that means getting up super early to exercise before a 6am call,  and bringing my own food), because I knew how much better I felt, physically and emotionally, when I took care of myself.  In my 30s, between acting jobs, I  started racing triathlons and marathons. In my 40s, I began swimming longer distance swims. A couple years ago, I was thinking about how much I wanted to help people get the same happiness, self confidence and body ease that I have from taking caret of myself, and health coaching seemed to be the perfect fit.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Introduce us to AlexandraCoaching.com, where you inspire and coach people to improve their lives in a healthier way?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: As a health coach, I help people establish healthy routines and behaviors into their lives.  So many people want to eat healthily, exercise more, sleep better, have more energy, feel less stress and lose weight – but they are so busy, so surrounded by tempting, unhealthy food and entrenched in a sedentary lifestyle, it can seem impossible to change. But it isn’t. Change is possible, and as a coach I help you make the changes you have always wanted to make but haven’t been able to do on your own. All my sessions are on the phone or by Skype, so I take clients are from all over the world.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine which you may wish to share?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I do cardio 6 days a week, which is usually 1 hour of swimming or the stationary bike. I do a 45 minute yoga routine every other day, which really helps my chronic lower back pain. I lift light free weights 3 times a week and walk about 4 times a week – on Wednesdays at 5:15 am for two hours with friends, and the other days when I have a slew of phone calls to make. It helps to multitask! I have a treadmill desk, so I also walk when I am doing emails or writing.  Like right now!  I make it a point to be active every day.  If I don’t, I feel out of sorts and I have lower energy.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I was a vegetarian for 33 years and I have been a vegan for 6 years. I also have taken all desserts and sweet treats out of my diet, except for granola. Otherwise, the only other sweet things I eat are fruit!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what do you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I have gotten facials every 3 weeks, faithfully, for the last 18 years. I credit my facialist, Rita Czismadia at Ava Shamban’s Santa Monica office, with making a HUGE difference in my skin. Twice a year I get microdermabrasion from her too. I use one moisturizer ( Gabriel’s Marine Anti Aging Cream) for my face day and night. I try not to use shampoo every time I wash my hair, although I do have to use shampoo on my bangs daily, since I work out so much. The most important thing about my cosmetics is that they are NOT tested on animals.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have had one of the longest-starring roles on the Show, ‘Baywatch’. Share with us your experience doing the series. Also, we would like to know about an unforgettable moment that you’ve had on the show?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I loved shooting Baywatch – definitely the most wonderful job in my 35 year acting career. I loved filming on the beach and the sense of family the cast and crew had. One moment that comes to mind is when we were shooting some swimming sequences, so I was out in the ocean in a speedboat waiting to get in the water. It was just gorgeous out and I just loved doing the action sequences and I had this feeling of intense gratitude for being so lucky as to work on a show where I get to be outside, not worrying about makeup, hair and wardrobe and surrounded by wonderful, hardworking actors and crew. Also, working with David Hasselhoff was a joy- he is so upbeat and kind to his fans and he was very professional on the set but also very funny. So we laughed a lot.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are an Actress, Activist, Health & Wellness coach, TV Host and a Former Model. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I have been lucky that as an actress, I have been able to take time off to do other things that interest me, like train for the Hawaii Ironman triathlon and swim long races like around Key West (12.5 miles). I also had time to volunteer on issues that were important to me like animal rights, the problem of human overpopulation and getting electric cars on the road.

I have a long history of working for voting rights and for peace, and all these activities were possible because I had an acting career that was successful enough to allow me that freedom. I also chose not to have children and I didn’t get married until I was 37, so I had the time to devote to these issues. When I met Ian 21 years ago, that also opened me up to more sports activities, since he is an athlete. He is very supportive of my activism, my athletic endeavors and my careers, so I am able to continue all those things AND be in love too.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Share with us a few Tips on how to get fitter than ever!

Ms. Alexandra Paul: Schedule your exercise for the week in your calendar – that will help you not skip workouts. It helps you stick to your program if you arrange to meet up with a workout partner. Also, I track my food every day using Chronometer, a website and app I find very helpful. I also have my own health coach  – we set weekly goals that make me feel like I am improving all the time in different areas of my life, including my health.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your 6 Ways to Fit a Workout Into a Full Time Work Schedule.

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I am big into multitasking, so if you have a conference call, why not do it walking? As I mentioned before, I have a treadmill desk so I can walk while I work at my computer. Studies are just coming out about how unhealthy sitting all day is! Americans seem to have time to watch TV every night, so why not exercise while watching your favorite show? Whether you go to the gym to do that, or have a treadmill and TV in the garage like one of my clients, you have to prioritize working out to fit it in. It is not easy at first – and that is why people hire coaches to help them get into the habit – but it is well worth it!!!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: This year, you will appear alongside your fellow Baywatch co-stars in “Sharknado 4” and the independent film “Dirty.” Tell us more about these endeavors of yours?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I filmed Sharknado 4 with David Hasselhoff and Gena Lee Nolin.  It was a ton of fun.  We all have experience fighting sharks in the water but from the sky? Not so much…. In Dirty, I am a prosecuting attorney trying to nail some dirty cops. I have never played a lawyer before, so it was fun to film in the courtroom.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Ms. Alexandra Paul: I love websites that inspire women to be healthy and that give them important facts and tips to help them in their journey. So thank you.
