Amanda Ruller: Running Back in the Legends Football League (LFL) for the Los Angeles Temptations Reveals Her Workout Secrets

Canada native Amanda Ruller is the true definition of the word Athlete. Her passion for speed and strength, Amanda dedicated her University years competing in CIS Track & Field at the University of Regina as a Sprinter. Amanda captured a number of National Standards and Sprint records, as well as acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. As being one of the top CIS 60 meter Sprinters, Amanda was approached by the Canadian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Community to compete in both winter sports.

Amanda is the current title holder of the Miss Southern Saskatchewan, Miss Bikini, Miss Talent, and Miss Congeniality, as well as top five for Miss Petite Canada. Currently Amanda is a Running Back in the Legends Football League (LFL) for the Los Angeles Temptations. During the offseason Amanda takes pride in helping others reach their fitness goals. As a certified personal trainer, Amanda specializes in strength and conditioning.

She has studied BSc Kinesiology, CSCS, CSEP – Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), CSEP – Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP).

Amanda Ruller is exceptionally talented running back in the Legends Football League (LFL) for the Los Angeles Temptations. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about your journey that took you to the world of fitness training and of being a Running Back in the Legends Football League for the Los Angeles Temptations?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

Growing up I was always involved in sports and continued into college playing soccer as well as sprinted for the track and field team. I still have an extreme passion for sports and continue to stay fit by playing football competitively for the LFL. Having a background in sprinting is perfect for the running back position! There is no greater thrill than getting the ball and weaving through your opponents!

How your experience and background of playing Bobsleigh and Skeleton in winter sports and being a sprinter has been the catalyst in making you excel on being a Fitness Trainer, Fitness Expert and Fitness Model?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

Having an extensive sporting background in many areas has helped me translate that to other athletes! My greatest joy is empowering athletes or individuals with the tools to reach their goals no matter what they may be. I have a passion for training and teaching sports. I also have an eye for correct movement patterns needed to increase performance.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have an exceptionally set of educational background having a Bachelors of Kinesiology degree. How this background helps you particularly in present profession of Fitness model & Fitness and Wellness Personal Trainer ?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

The more educated your trainer is the more they can provide you with the right programming specially for you! This is key to help get the best results from the athlete or individual. For example, if I had an NFL Running back come to me for training or someone wanting to just tone and tighten I would not train them the same. Having a lot of practical experience in the field or both sports and training helps me know exactly what to do for each clients so we can utilize the best results from them. The more education and practical experience you have you are able to accommodate all types of training and identify proper movement patterns.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a bikini perfect physique?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

I follow a strict speed and power program by Power Athlete which incorporates weights, sprints, plyometrics and corrective movements to help my body perform at its optimal level. My main focus is being strong and healthy and practicing good nutrition outside the gym. These are the key ingredients to forming a perfect bikini body!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

I eat lots of whole quality foods involving lots of proteins and carbohydrates. I’m always sprinting and lifting so it’s important I get lots of carbohydrates to fuel my performance. I also take women’s vitamins for athletes to help maintain good bone density and red blood formation. I supplement with Dynamis Products such as Protein powder, BCAAs and a thermogenesis.

What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a fitness model, certified personal trainer, media personality, Running Back in the Legends Football League for the Los Angeles Temptations, writer and enthusiastic athlete?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

I’m inspired by friends and family that I surround myself with! I see them living life and doing so many great things that it helps encourage me to do the same. Honestly when others believe in me it makes me feel invincible, like I can move mountains. My trainers right now at Power Athlete are a huge motivation to me. They challenge me in ever way to be a better athlete and I want to make them proud! My parents have always been an inspiration to push on and achieve my goals! They’ve been to every game and competition I’ve done. Recently my father, Edward Ruller, has passed from brain cancer. This has been a wake up call that life is too short and I must do everything I can and reach for the stars.

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hairs. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hairs to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

I take the Vitamin Biotin to help with healthy hair and nails! This coenzyme is great if you want you hair to grow faster and thicker. I’ve had great results from it and recommend it. Then I put some moroccan oil on the ends of my hair to keep it looking soft and smooth. I also keep my skin routine simple, I rub Vitamin E oil on my skin every night before bed. Keeps my skin glowing and looking youthful!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have done bold photo shoots. What advice you wish to give to the women of today to be body confident in order to do such bold modeling?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

Everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way and you should showcase that! Be proud of who you are and what you look like and do not be afraid to rock it. I am only 5 feet tall with a very muscular toned body. That is not ideal to all girls but I love being a strong athletic female and am confident with who I am!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

Growing up I was always the sports girl and never the beauty queen. I wanted to do something that challenges me and made me step out of my comfort zone. I signed up for a pageant and stuck to my athletic background on talent night and did a clean and jerk. I ended up winning Miss Talent that night and more awards throughout the week. It was such a rewarding experience and I gained lots of new friendships along the way. I take pride in representing my province Saskatchewan with pride!

Tell us about the life in a day of ‘Amanda Ruller’ as the Running Back in the Legends Football League for the Los Angeles Temptations?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

I wake up and make sure I have a big breakfast because I’m about to go put a lot of work in at the gym. I hit Power Athlete HQ and do their weights program. After I meet up with a teammate and work on football drills such as passing, catching and footwork. I will go home and cook up a storm to help fuel my body. Then I will answer emails and starting programming workouts for clients. After the work is done I try to do something fun I wouldn’t be able to do back in Canada where I’m from. For example I recently took up surfing lesions, I love to travel to go see NFL games, check out the beaches around Southern California or go to a theme park! Huge roller-coaster fan!

Elaborate on your personalised concept of “Fitness Training” that you offer?

Ms. Amanda Ruller:

Being in sports all my life I’ve always had a passion for training others working towards getting stronger and faster! This is my bread and butter. I offer very specific programming for anyone looking to achieve speed and power. I also offer programming for those looking to gain mass for sports or competition as well as those looking to just tone and tighten! All of my programming is specific to the client and their personal goals. I love what I do and I’m excited to work with new athletes ready to set the world on fire!
