Amber Dawn Orton

Amber Dawn Orton is a NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialization (FNS) Certified Fitness Trainer & Model. She is the business owner of ADOFitness – full time online personal trainer, nutrition/prep coach, posing instructor, competitor, endorsed athlete, NPC judge and a fitness model.

As a fitness model, she has a list of varied credentials, including being the 2015 promotional model for GNC brands. In 2014 and 2016, she appeared in the fitness layout for Oxygen Magazine. She placed in 3rd place or higher at 3 separate NPC events.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You had a background in pageants and modeling. You got your education with degrees from the University of Oregon in Economics and Business Administration with a focus in finance. You were encouraged & motivated towards fitness in 2010 after you won the overall in bikini at your very first NPC show. You reached the pinnacle of success when you won 1st place at the 2013 NPC Emerald Cup. Tell us about your journey that took you to the the world of fitness?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

Yes that’s correct, however, I don’t believe The Emerald Cup was “my pinnacle of success”. The Emerald was a stepping stone in the process. I went on to place second place at nationals after the Emerald cup but then changed my direction to focus on fitness modeling instead of competing as it was a healthier outlet for me.

In the process I knew I was passionate about health and fitness but didn’t feel healthy at all while competing. I decided to change my focus and find a better avenue to sustaining a lean body I was proud of in the healthiest way possible. That’s how I created my brand and Team ADOFitness and the philosophy we have stood behind since day 1. We have grown ADOFitness into a nation wide business with over 500 clients between myself and my four other trainers and couldn’t be happier to be helping others with their goals in fitness in a sustainable and healthy way.

Prior to ever competing I was convinced to give it a try from my brother, Aaron Orton, who is a natural pro bodybuilder now. He saw potential in me and convinced me to give competing a try. That decision truly changed my life and I decided in 2012 to focus solely on fitness as career versus working in my corporate finance job which I always thought was the job I wanted. I realized I didn’t feel fulfilled working in an office and wanted to do something other than sit behind a computer screen all day. I craved social interaction and helping others in a bigger way which was the driving force behind my decision to pursue fitness full time.


Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a online personal trainer, nutrition/prep coach, posing instructor, competitor, endorsed athlete, NPC judge and fitness model?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

The motivation comes naturally because its truly what I love to do. I don’t see myself doing anything else as a career and don’t feel like I am even working most days because I love my job and helping others. Its motivating for me to see my clients progress and see all the posts about how good our clients feel online and know we are truly making a difference in the health and fitness industry.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a bikini perfect physique?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

Here is an example of a split I was utilizing prior to becoming pregnant:

Monday: Glute focused leg day
Tuesday: Shoulders
Wednesday: Arms
Thursday: Back & Chest
Friday: Abs & Lower Body Plyo Day
Saturday: Rest Day
Sunday: Lift whatever isn’t sore from the week

Practically all my lifts are focused on 3-4 sets of 6-10 different exercises at 12-15 reps each. I will add in at least 3 HIIT sessions and 2-3 longer duration (40-60 min) LISS sessions to this split typically. My cardio will change based on if I am getting ready for an event, photoshoot, or show. I just recently started implementing more yoga into my schedule as well.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

I use more of a flexible dieting/IIFYM approach so my nutrition never stays the same, but below is a basic breakdown of what some days may look like before being pregnant. I try to get in a lot of micronutrient dense foods even though my intake is flexible and I switch it up all the time based on what I feel like in the moment. I use IconMeals meal prep service as it is a great, affordable, and efficient way to have meals pre-made and freshly delivered each week as well.

Meal 1: 1/2c MyOatmeal Oats + 3 egg whites/1 whole omega 3 egg (I often times combine these ingredients to make protein pancakes or waffles) but if on the go I will eat the IconMeals pre-made protein pancakes

Meal 2: 4 egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, tomato, hot sauce scramble or omelette with ezekiel english muffin

Meal 3: 4oz. extra lean ground turkey atop a taco salad using lettuce, salsa, avocado, brown rice

Meal 4: Protein bar or shake

Meal 5: 4oz. buffalo, 4oz. mashed sweet potato, and broccoli from IconMeals

Meal 6: Low carb protein waffles (recipe on my blog!) with buff bake protein nut butter

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

Thank you. I make sure to drink a lot of water everyday which helps. I aim for a gallon a day. I also supplement with NutraSumma fish oil, probiotics, digestive enzymes, Vitamin C, Womans multi vitamin and Collagen. Other than that I don’t do much except make sure I am eating micronutrient dense foods and excercising.

Fitness modelling is about bold photo shoots. You have done many photo shoots and shown your spectacular chiseled physique. What advice you wish to give to the women of today to be body confident in order to do such bold modeling?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

When you work so hard for the body you have – you better show it off! Photoshoots are a great marketing tool and I work hard for what I present when I show up. So I try and keep in mind that there is no point in being shy or bashful when I should be proud of what I have created and worked for.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fitness modelling girls who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to ladder of success in field of fitness modeling?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

If you truthfully believe in yourself, are a good person, and work hard… success is inevitable in my opinion. Never give up and don’t let anyone tell you differently when it comes to your personal goals. I had a lot of people try and discourage me along the way and I had a lot of doubt that I would ever be in the position I am in now. But thankfully I surrounded myself with people who believed in me and have a wonderful support system at home with my husband. Keep people in your circle who inspire and motivate you to be your best self and you can’t go wrong 😉

Who has been your inspiration and motivation in choosing a fitness modeling and fitness expert as your profession ?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

From day 1 I was motivated by Lori Harder. She had the physique I loved but she also seemed very well rounded and balanced in her life. I was fortunate enough to have had dinner with her just recently and it was a surreal feeling knowing that I had looked up to her for so long. With exceptional hard work you are credited with all your achievements as a fitness model. Do you believe that does the hand of Providence (Supreme Being) played a role in your success?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

I believe good things happen to good people. And yes I have faith that the law of attraction is real and that when you put out positive energy you receive positive energy in return. I know that with everything I do, I believe fully in what I am doing and that helps drive me to be the best at what I am doing in every aspect of the word.

Tell us more about your website www.amberdawnorton.com and the online Personalized Fitness Program you offer?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

ADOFitness has grown into a very successful business which I am so blessed to have had created. We now have 5 trainers total, including myself. All of the trainers started as clients of mine and understand my vision and business model. We all put health as a number one priority with all we do with each client. We offer a variety of packages and currently have over 500 clients. Many people assume we only work with competitors, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.We have more “everyday” clients just looking to be healthier and lose some weight or repair their metabolisms, than we do actual competitors. I am very happy to say that all of the ADOFitness trainers are as close as sisters and we speak to each other every single day which offers a very unique experience for our clientele as well as we are all constantly learning from one another in the process, which benefits everyone involved.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Ms. Amber Dawn Orton:

I think Womenfitness.net is a great website that hits a wide variety of women in the fitness world. Not just competition or fitness models but celebrities, inspirational everyday woman, and more.
