Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up Ana Patricia, an exceptionally talented, World Champion Brazilian Beach Volleyball Player. Here she talks about her diet, workout and, her success story.

Namita Nayyar:

You were born in Espinosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Where you had your early education and training for Beach Volleyball. You won the Gold medal at Youth Olympics Games for the first time in 2014. This propelled your career to the height where you have been at the top of the world as a leading beach Volleyball player and won the Gold medal in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Rome in 2022. Tell us more about this journey of hard work, tenacity, and endurance.

Ana Patricia:

My first experience with beach volleyball was not in Espinosa. In my hometown I always liked to practice many sports, like football and handball, but volleyball came into my life by chance. I was ‘discovered’ in the 2013 edition of the School Games in my state, Minas Gerais. They invited me to audition, I went to another city and it all started. The following year, with Duda, I won the Youth Olympic Games. Of course, it all took a lot of sweat, a lot of willpower, but I was lucky and helped by many people to be here today.

Namita Nayyar:

You won the Gold medals in U21 Beach Volleyball World Championships in 2016, and 2017. Tell us more about this winning and what had been a catalyst to achieve such spectacular winning in your Beach Volleyball career.

Ana Patricia:

As I said before, it was all very fast. Duda and I won two youth world championships in a row, being very young, and that made me believe even more that I could go further in beach volleyball. It was an incredible experience; we were trained by Cida, Duda’s mother, with our current coach, Lucas, on the coaching staff. A very positive climate that generated, and still generates, good results.

Namita Nayyar:

You won the Gold medal at the 2022 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. Elaborate more about this exceptional achievement of your Beach Volleyball career.

Ana Patricia:

Duda and I started a project this year. Sometimes people seem to forget that, because we had a successful past together at the grassroots. But we arrived at the worlds with just six months of work. And this victory crowned a period of great dedication and dedication from all of our team, our club. We are part of a visionary and unique project in Brazil.

Normally, in Brazilian beach volleyball, the athletes have to handle everything by themselves. We have the structure set up by Praia Clube, which gives us peace of mind to dedicate ourselves to training. We have a very qualified technical team. All of this culminated in the world title. We prepared for it, we wanted it so much. We knew it would be difficult, as it was, but we did it.

We won big doubles on our path and that only made the title bigger. In the knockout stages, we faced teams from the elite of the world ranking, such as the Japanese, Barbara and Carol, the then world champions, Sarah and Melissa, from Canada, the bronze medalists of the last Olympic Games, from Switzerland. In addition, of course, to the other duo from Canada, in the final. They had a very good year and didn’t get there for nothing. It was a very difficult tournament, we faced many difficulties, but we overcame them all to win the title.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about a day in the life of Ana Patrícia.

Ana Patricia:

I tend to be pretty laid back. We have a well-defined routine during the week and I don’t do many things besides training and physiotherapy. On weekends and days off, I like to go out and explore new places, especially mountains. It’s a moment I use to rest my mind a little too.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Ana Patricia:

We have many varied exercises during the season. Each moment requires a different protocol that is always assembled by our multidisciplinary team. But the standard is at least two workouts per day, usually a technical workout and a physical workout.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ana Patricia:

I am constantly monitored by a Nutrologist, who gives me all the support to seek the best physical condition for each moment.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.

Ana Patricia:

Honestly, I do as basic as possible. I only use shampoo and conditioner on my hair. And sometimes I do a more complete hydration. With my skin, I also only use the basics, with great attention to sunscreen, since most of the time I am exposed to the strong sun.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding Beach Volleyball girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of Beach Volleyball?

Ana Patricia:

I always talk about the power and importance of dreaming. Much of everything I live was dreamed of by me since I was younger, even without having a complete notion of everything involved in being an athlete. But let’s not settle for just dreaming, because nothing happens if we don’t truly seek, day by day, to get closer to each dream goal.

So, what I can say is that we always try to do our best. That’s the start for anything.

Namita Nayyar:

Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.

Ana Patricia:

I love: Meat, mango, broccoli, shrimp and dulce de leche
I don’t like: Okra, eggplant and eggplant.

Namita Nayyar:

Five athletic leisure brands you love to wear.

Ana Patricia:

Nike, Under armour, Decathlon, Adidas and Asics.

Namita Nayyar:

Five travel destinations on your wish list.

Ana Patricia:

Amazon, Maldives, Thailand, Patagonia (South America) and Australia.
