A true born star, Anna Marie Dobbins began her entertainment career in competitive dance at a young age at her mother’s studio, the Linda Dobbins Dance Studio. Immediately following graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, where she began booking roles in film and television in everything from FOOTLOOSE opposite Julianne Hough to the CW’s mega-hit supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries.”

As Anna recreates her magic with the Lifetime thriller feature film STALKED BY MY DOCTOR: PATIENT’S REVENGE, Women Fitness’ President Namita Nayyar spoke to her about living the Hollywood life and how she takes care of her health.

NN:

Was becoming an actress a profession of choice or happened accidentally?

AD:

It was a choice, I grew up a dancer and have always had a passion for performing. When I was 13, I became curious about the entertainment world, so I sought out my first agent, booked a couple commercials, and the passion began.

Why do you think one should go to watch Stalked by My Doctor: Patient’s Revenge?

AD:

It has everything you could want in a movie: romance, friendship, suspense, action. It is a movie that will keep you guessing and on your toes until the end!

NN:

What’s your definition of a fit lifestyle?

AD:

A lifestyle that is goal driven and active.

NN:

Why do you think diet plays a major role in leading a healthy life?

AD:

I don’t think everyone needs to be on a strict diet, but I do believe in portion control. If you stay active and make conscious healthy decisions for your body, you will succeed in your personal goals.

NN:

Drinking water often, is a must. Why?

AD:

To keep your body hydrated. We lose water doing almost anything: breathing, sweating, eating, etc. We have to replenish our bodies constantly to keep us from dehydration. I carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go so I can refill it and drink it throughout the day. I try to stick to the rule of drinking half your body weight in ounces of water a day.

NN:

Why helping the less fortunate people in the world, the need of the hour?

AD:

I was raised to always help others who are less fortunate. I believe through the media, more people are aware of others’ situations and want to help. I believe that as a community, people coming together, donating their time, money, and resources, we can achieve anything. People want to help people, now it is easier to for others to know how to get involved.

NN:

Why are more and more people moving towards vegetarianism or turning vegan?

AD:

There are many different reasons people today are becoming vegan. For some, it is just a fad or could be for health reasons. For others, it is their morals. I believe that you should do what you feel is right for your own body. While being vegan can have its health benefits, it can also decrease the protein one needs to survive. Always make choices that suit your lifestyle and your own health. Don’t just follow because it is a fad.

NN:

Warming-up & stretching is essential before a workout session. Why?

AD:

You always run a risk of injuring yourself doing any physical activity with cold muscles. Get your heart rate up with jumping jacks, a jog, etc, before you stretch to maximize your flexibility and warm you up before you work out.

NN:

Dancing is considered to be one of the most effective forms of workout? Share your experience?

AD:

For me, dancing is a great disguise for working out. When I take a dance class, my mind is so focused on the choreography/technique that I forget I am “working out”. It is also said that dance is great for your mental health, cardiovascular health, strength, balance, and coordination; knocking out all birds with one stone.

NN:

Why eating in moderation is the key to a happy soul?

AD:

Personally, when I let myself reach the starving level, I tend to over eat resulting in feeling overstuffed, tired, and sick. Eating small meals throughout the day will keep you energized and focused.

NN:

Social media can be harmful if used obsessively. How?

AD:

While social media has a lot of positives, the over use of it can be draining to a person. Everything should be used in moderation. Don’t obsess with social media so much that you lose out of life experiences. I try to only check social media in the mornings. It can be a never ending black hole if you don’t set boundaries to it, you can lose a lot of time just scrolling and scrolling. You only have one life, take in the moments with friends and family and put your phone away.

NN:

Why do you need to detox yourself?

AD:

Detoxing yourself can be both physically and mentally up lifting. Not only is it good to physically detox yourself from toxic substances in your body, it is good to mentally detox yourself from people or objects that are toxic to your  mental health. Be conscious of the people you surround yourself with, if they do not support you, detoxify them. If you are glued to technology where you can’t live your life, detoxify it. If you are practicing bad habits that don’t let you live to your full potential, detoxify them.

NN:
