Ashley Young specializes in glamour, dance, artistic, and beauty modelling as well as Promotional modelling at events.

Women Fitness President talks to the stunning model about her journey into the glamour world.

Namita Nayyar:

You are best known as the official Playboy Playmate. Walk us through your spectacular journey and tell us how it all began?

Ashley Young:

I thought William was kidding when he called and asked me if I wanted to shoot for Playboy AND didn’t have to do any nudity haha.

But two weeks later Playboy Philippines’ head photographer flew out to Vancouver and we shot my feature piece in our Olympic Village.

It was such an incredibly gratifying moment to get the honor to work with such a powerhouse publication, especially being a more athletically built model rather than their typical curvaceous bombshell. It was a really fun experience that I will never forget.

Namita Nayyar:

You also have Cheer leading, Gymnastics, Acting and Dance Experience. How did you realize your love for being in front of the camera then?

Ashley Young:

I was always interested in fashion and modelling growing up. I always had Fashion Telivision with Jeanne Beker on before school and my Nana always let me play dress up in her high heels whenever she would babysit my sister and I. My intro into modelling was a complete fluke but my experience as a gymnast and dancer helped me find my own way into a very competitive career and I’ve never looked back.

Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your life.

Ashley Young:

A typical photoshoot day usually starts with a 5am wakeup call. I eat a breakfast of eggs and veggies with my little pomeranian. Then I do hair and makeup before leaving for set. I always grab a Starbucks Americano with sugar free Vanilla on my way.

After work I come home and have a snack and some coffee or preworkout with my Fiancé before we hit the gym. After the workout we eat our dinner and meal prep for the next day. We end the day with either a movie or reading in bed before we turn in.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may like to share?

Ashley Young:

When I train, I do a mix of traditional Body Building, Gymnastics and Crossfit. I also enjoy trail running and the stairmaster on days that I am working a single muscle group such as shoulders, back, chest or arms. On active rest days I am usually out hiking or doing something outdoors.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take some special diet that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ashley Young:

I don’t believe in “diets”. They don’t last and they are not sustainable in the long run. I just try to eat clean with whole, natural foods that fuel my body for the day ahead as much as possible. I do keep it fairly flexible as no day is ever the same and I am still human, but chicken and salads packed with nuts and veggies are definitely staples of everyday life.

Namita Nayyar:

Being a model you have to constantly apply makeup and heat to your hair. How do you take care of your skin and hair?

Ashley Young:

I think that eating clean and always drinking a ton of water is a major contributing factor to maintaining good skin, hair and nails. I do use the Eminence skin care line and Moroccan Oil products for a little extra help. I also ALWAYS remove my makeup before bed no matter what.

Namita Nayyar:

Who has been your greatest influence and motivator in your success in the field of your career?

Ashley Young:

I have followed the greats such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, and Naomi Campbell for as long as I can remember, but the two biggest inspirational people in my life are my Mom and my Fiancé, Kyle. My mom has always worked her ass off and is still competing in Crossfit. We have always trained and competed together. Both of my parents are very athletic and competitive. My fiancé is the most hardworking, passionate person I have ever met and he is always meal prepping and training with me. They have both supported me through all of my ups and downs in life and in my career. I literally wouldn’t be who I am without their unconditional love, support and gentle pushing to keep fighting for my dreams.

Namita Nayyar:

5 years from now, where do you see yourself?

Ashley Young:

On the cover of Vogue! Or Maxim. I’d be more than happy with either haha.

I am open to any possibilities that come my way and will continue to do what I love in all shapes and forms whether it be fashion shoots, film and television, or competing in various sporting competitions.

I will for sure be becoming a married woman this year, at the end of May, and am very excited. I also hope to resume competing in bodybuilding next year so a pro card might be in my future.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and upcoming models who all are your fans? 5 tips to work upon on appearance and skills.

Ashley Young:

Say yes to any opportunities that come your way. Especially if you are a petite model. Do you research and practice. Get good at hearing the word no, but never give up.

My advice for training is just stay consistent. Schedule your workouts and meal prep time into your day. Don’t try to “fit it in”, because you never will; and trust the process. Nothing really good ever happens overnight.

Namita Nayyar:

How do you train your abs? Tell us your circuit.

Ashley Young:

Unfortunately, abs are made in the kitchen. If you’re looking at getting lean enough to see your abs, then you have to eat in a deficit and very clean foods.

To strengthen and define my abs and core, I do full body movements like deep squats and dead lifts as well as crossfit movements like warriors and toes to bar.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about your preparations for the future projects.

Ashley Young:

I am always training my body to see what it can do next. As I said, I really want to see where I can push it next in another body building competition. For this reason, I am currently trying to put on as much muscle as I can. I am also starting to pursue more stunt work, so will be taking a lot of courses over the summer that are geared towards acting and stunt work.

Namita Nayyar:

Share a few words about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Ashley Young:

I love how Womenfitness.net is such an amazing collection of real women and athletes sharing their knowledge from real life experiences. Seeing everything that other women have accomplished in different fields and what they are pushing to do is simply amazing. It’s giving us a platform to share our stories and connect with one another, and I think that is brilliant.
