Namita Nayyar:

You were born at Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. At 15 years of age, you moved to the city of São Paulo to work as a model for São Paulo Fashion Week and Rio Fashion Week. Three months later, you moved to New York City to travel the fashion circuit of NY, Milan, and Paris. At 17, you posed for Just Cavalli. This propelled your modeling career to the height where you have been at the top of the world of fashion and glamour modeling. Tell us more about your journey of hard work, tenacity, and endurance?

Barbara Fialho:

Everything started very fast. One day I was going home from school, like every normal teenager and I was scouted. Before social media it was up to luck that someone would find you in a small city like Montes Claros, north of Minas Gerais in Brazil. Or perhaps a modeling, beauty contest. But with me, that was the story. Just like that. The scout gave me his contact and said I should contact him and do a modeling class. I did. Then I did a photo shoot, for my “book” a portfolio where everything starts in the modeling industry.

At least back then… Those photos ended up at a modeling agency’s desk in São Paulo, just as few weeks before São Paulo Fashion week. They loved me for high fashion and especially being new face and I ended up walking over 20 shows right away. There were agents from NY watching, and three months later I was in NY. I believe my secret to success and to where I have gotten in my life is endurance and perseverance. I believe my personality has been taking me further than any other skill, and I believe that it’s because of my passion to see everyone around me happy and smiling. I believe if you are joyful everyone around you will feel it.

Namita Nayyar:

It is a dream for a model to feature at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. You have walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. You have been their fitting model since 2012 and have posed for their brand. Elaborate more about this amazing and inspiring journey with this Iconic brand?

Barbara Fialho:

It was an unforgettable experience that changed my life forever. I started working with them as a fit model and I became very passionate about it. It was an incredible journey to see all those outfits come to life from start. When I started working for Victoria’s Secret I reached a demographic and a space I never thought could be possible for me and I made so many dreams come true and it open so many doors for my life so I will forever be grateful for that opportunity.

Those were some of the best years of my life seven years of beauty and fantasy. I’ve always been very curious, so I became very passionate about the process I got to know every artisan I fell in love with each step of the way.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a world-leading media personality, supermodel, influencer, and brand ambassador. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Barbara Fialho:

Before I was a mother I have to say, I had no idea what real multitasking was. Now however all I had to say to every single mother out there is, WOW! I salute you I stand with you, and I am proud of you for all your hard work.

Now back to the question, I believe every woman reading this interview and every woman that we know is an absolute artist on multitasking. I am so very blessed to have the help of my mother, she lives with me and is a huge part of my team. She helps me with Maria, my beautiful daughter. I also have my father with me. He helps me with my logistics.

Making sure my mom and Maria have everything that they need while I’m away working. I created a workout schedule where I need to give myself at least three intense good workouts a week, and I try to live life by 70% healthy and 30% indulgent I try to have that balance because I love chocolate, I love some sweet sometimes.

I want to be much more present this next year with my social media platforms. I will be releasing all the new music and a album I worked on during the quarantine in Brazil. It was such a beautiful moment of solitude between my daughter and I. The new record will come out in February 2022.

I always think I can do better and more. Maybe the secret is that I’m hipper active! 🙂

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Barbara Fialho:

Jumping rope to my favorite playlists is my favorite go to while traveling. It helps me keep in shape no matter where I am.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Barbara Fialho:

I really try to eat real food. The least processed food the best. I love rice, beans, salads, vegetables. I grew up eating that in Brazil so I am blessed to have always had good eating habits. The least sugar, salt and processed foods the best. That’s not even a secret! 🙂 It’s hard having that discipline when I’m traveling. So I compensate with working out and drinking extra water.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your haircare and skincare routine.

Barbara Fialho:

On my hair I use a Brazilian brand called “SPA DEIA E RENATA” It’s a fully organic line that I have been using since I was 16 years old. On my face I make a huge mix of different vitamins oils. I have dry skin, and with all the time on the airplane, and make up, I like using more oily products. I take away the excess with a warm wet towel. The steam room is also my best friend. Steaming has become a passion of mine! Since the baby, it’s like my little moment for myself.

Namita Nayyar:

You have played guitar since the age of nine. You recorded a bossa nova album produced by Damon Martin, you also released a single in 2017 called Samba e Amor. In 2018, you collaborated with Jo Mersa Marley, to release a single and music video called Um Beijo. Tell us more about your endeavor as a music artist.

Barbara Fialho:

Music has always been my passion and my dream to accomplish I’ve been searching for myself within the world of music and the arts. I would say bit more my words are deeper lately with some very real-life experiences I’ve encountered that have been challenging but rewarding. I come from very humble beginnings and in a fast pace my life reality changed through fashion. I lived in somewhat a parallel world for about 16 years working nonstop traveling from country to country not really growing roots anywhere.

Then I fell deeply in love, decided to go for it, and I can say I will do it all over again. My daughter and overcoming the reality of a working mom in the search of my own expression as an artist has taught me more in the past two years than ever. I wrote an album that I cannot wait to share with everyone as it will be my best one yet.

Namita Nayyar:

You have walked the runways for the world finest fashion designers and brands namely Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, Diane Von Furstenberg, Loewe, Christian Dior, House of Holland, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Louis Vuitton, Jeremy Scott, Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Rucci, Antonio Berardi, Custo Dalmau, Temperley, Victoria’s Secret and the event Fashion Rocks. Tell us more about your experience working for them and how these professional achievements have acted as a motivator to further your professional career as a supermodel and as a catalyst to achieve spectacular heights in modeling?

Barbara Fialho:

As I read this list, I feel so accomplished; my heart is full of gratitude for all those opportunities I believe my personality has played a huge role in not giving up and creating good relationships those open doors to all these amazing encounters. And once I have the opportunity to walk in those doors, I opened my heart, and I gave everything that I have. Persistent and perseverance of my goals have always helped keeping my mind focused on the next.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fashion model girls, who. A your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modeling?

Barbara Fialho:

I feel the more interest you take in learning the designer/brand from the team to the photographer to stylist, to hair and makeup the more connected you are with your team – the creative in the process you become. All the glamour is wonderful, but if you must learn how to manage your emotions on a set and show up as professional and make sure your client is happy in the end of the day, it will be challenging to maintain a long career, but the process is always worth it.

Namita Nayyar:

You have done bold photo shoots with Italian Vogue, American, Italian, Brazilian, and Croatian Elle, American and British Harper’s Bazaar, W, Marie Claire, 10 Magazine, Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book, Dossier, Esquire, GQ, L’Officiel, Los Angeles Times, Missbehave, Status, and Vulture. How you are so body confident and advice?

Barbara Fialho:

I see myself as an artist when I am on set, so one of my passions is to see myself in the eye of my team and what they are doing asking myself what their visions is so I can make it a reality. I love when people are happy around me and am laughing, I love when people giggle and celebrate life, so I try to replicate and re-create that energy every time I’m on set. Some of the best photos I’ve taken are the most challenging ones so I’m always up for a challenge because those are the most memorable moments.

I am very comfortable with my body, and I love breaking boundaries and challenging myself and I’ve always done what I felt comfortable with, so my advice is go as far as you feel comfortable with but always no your limits. I think it’s important to follow your gut and always know your surroundings.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us more about your appearance on the James Bond-inspired music video of the song “Bright Lights Bigger City” by the American rapper CeeLo Green.

Barbara Fialho:
