Capucine Delannoy:

I started kite surfing at seven years because of my family, we moved to Brasil and my dad taught me. At the beginning I liked kiting and doing long sessions with my parents and my big brother but it became a passion when I started competing. Since my first competition in 2018 I never stopped, I started to train a lot, to spend many hours on the water, looking for doing the best tricks, learning in the waves a getting the World title.

Namita Nayyar:

The biggest highlight of your career came in 2021 when you were placed 2nd in the world Global Kite sports Association Ranking. Tell us more about this exceptional achievement?

Capucine Delannoy:

I had just won the Junior World champion tittle and 1 month later I was crowned vice world champion, after winning all the events of the year! I was really happy about this a great accomplishment! But, as I said, I still have my eyes on the World title.

Namita Nayyar:

You must have many memories and experiences as a Kite surfing winning different competitions in different locations. Share some such experiences which are precious to you and embedded in your heart.

Capucine Delannoy:

One of my favorite memories was my first competition, in Brazil in 2018. I was 12 years old and it was a great opportunity to share sessions with the best women kite surfer in the world. My first heat was against the World champion Jalou Langeree, a big inspiration, I was really proud and happy to share a heat with her!

My last good memory was in Morocco, we competed at sunset time, they were almost no more light and the conditions were amazing! I have scored the best waves of my life and then we had to run with my brother as fast as we could to be able to go upwind while listening to the scores of the last waves.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a world-leading kite surfer, kite surfing competitor, media personality, and brand ambassador. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Capucine Delannoy:

I love this busy life! And I’m in high school so I have to organize myself a lot. When I’m on competitions or shootings I’m fully focused so I don’t have so much time to study. But when I’m at home I usually study in the morning, train on the water in the afternoon and I work out after.

Namita Nayyar:

You won the GKA Kite Surf World Cup Sylt 2021? Elaborate more about this remarkable achievement in your career.

Capucine Delannoy:

Due to the pandemic we didn’t have any competition for 1.5 year, so when I arrived in Sylt I was training every day for more than a year for this competition. I had no expectations, I didn’t know the level of the other girls and I just wanted to give my best. Even after a year and a half without competing I was happy to see that my mental was still here!

I passed heat by heat, landing all my tricks and being fully focused! I managed to be the first woman landing a double front roll in competition, and it brought me to the win!

It was my first World tour win and I was really excited about it!!

Namita Nayyar:

Kite surfing is an extreme sport where the kiter uses wind power with a large power kite to be pulled on a water, land, or snow surface. It combines aspects of paragliding, surfing, windsurfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and wakeboarding. You are one of the world-leading French kite surfers. What do you consider has been the catalyst to drive you from within, your competitive urge to move against all the odds to come out victorious and achieve such an accomplishment at the World platform?

Capucine Delannoy:

I’ve always been really competitive, when I was younger I used to live in the Alps and do a lot of ski competitions. I’ve always looked up to my big brother, Camille, and seeing him competing on the kite surfing World tour made me want to do the same as an evidence. I didn’t know what to except but as soon as the “game” started I was IN and never quit since then.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Capucine Delannoy:

I mostly do legs emasculation to prevent from injuries and mobility exercises to be better on the water. I usually train with kettle bells or body weight, and I go running 3 times per week. I try to work out every day, but sometimes after an enter day on the water it’s hard to find the motivation!

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Capucine Delannoy:

ARGH, this is one of the compromises I had to do! I love the Italian food; pizza, pasta, etc… But I’ve had to reduce it. I’m now eating more vegetables and fish; I also reduced my meat consumption.

Capucine Delannoy:

Thank you! My routine is simple; I only put sunscreen on my skin! But with high frequency. My hair get easily dehydrated with the sea salt, so I always use coconut oil before kiting and I do hair masks 3 times per week.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding Kite surfers, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of Kite surfing?

Capucine Delannoy:

Capucine Delannoy:

Yes!! Italian food and pancakes with chocolate!

Namita Nayyar:

Share with us your personal struggles with physical sports and kite surfing injuries if any, like two stitches on the lips and what you may wish to share with other individuals who may feel motivated by your experience to win over physical sports injuries in their career?

Capucine Delannoy:

I’m very lucky, I never had big injuries. Sometimes I cut myself with the fins of my board but my parents sew me up as they are medical doctors, and I’m back on the water! But, I’m working out in prevention, especially for my knees which are always the weak part in kite surfing. I know a lot athletes around me that had some bad injuries, and I’m always really impressed by the determination to come back stronger, and I think this is the key!
