Carrie Stevens is an exceptionally talented and accomplished American model, actress and an entrepreneur. She is Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for June 1997. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You were born in Buffalo, New York and grew up in Hardwick, Massachusetts. You later studied journalism at Memphis State University. Your chance on being spotted in a dentist’s waiting room by a Hollywood talent agent later led to your first television appearance on an episode of the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives in 1992. You then appeared in numerous television shows and took start your career in modeling. You were selected as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for June 1997. This propelled your modelling career to the height where you have been at the top of the world of fashion and glamour modeling and excelled as an actress. Tell us something about this fairy tale journey?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

Thank you for asking. I never feel like I lived a fairy tale, although when someone reads me my credits, I look back on my journey with pride. I came from a small town where you get laughed at if you say you are going to conquer the acting and modeling industry, but I didn’t let that stop me. I had a fire in me, and I dreamed big. It never came easily to me though, it was a challenge to keep the positive attitude. There is a lot of rejection in the industry and one must find a way to cope with it. Exercise is a healthy outlet for releasing frustrations! I always found time to do my cardio, because it kept me sane. And I never I forgot to be my own best friend. When you are fiercely independent, you must be your biggest cheerleader. Someone once told me that I am a good mother, and I need to talk to myself as if I were talking to my son. That’s a good way to keep in check. We must hold our own hand on this journey called life. It’s important to be kind to yourself, as it is to be kind to others.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You are world leading media personality, model, actress and a brand ambassador. How you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

I keep a journal, which I call the “Taking Care of Carrie” journal. It is I write daily what I did for myself mentally, physically and spiritually. Writing keeps me grounded, keeps me on task, and keeps my self love alive.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

I have a condition called degenerative disc disease. I tend to get herniated discs, and torn ligaments. It’s really frustrating because I seem to get close to getting to my fit goals, and then an injury slows me down. So I have to be careful not to risk injury. I like pilates reformer classes, because pliates keeps my core strong. When my core is strong, my back doesn’t hurt. My favorite cardio is spinning/indoor cycling. I don’t run or do anything high impact. I love to hike in the canyons around Los Angeles on a beautiful day, or go rollerblading along the beach in Malibu or Santa Monica. Even though I can’t lift heavy weights or try anything fun, like take a trapeze class for example…I can overcome my condition and as long as I stay in motion, I know that I am winning.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

I am a healthy eater but there’s no program I follow. I try to stay educated about food and study up on the latest trends. But I stick to the philosophy that moderation in everything. As long as I work out I don’t have to diet too much. I just try to be sensible, like have one piece of pizza and a side salad instead of three pieces of pizza, for example. I own a fudge company, www.InfamousFudge.com so everyone wonders how I manage my weight…but the truth is, I just don’t over indulge. I don’t deny myself anything…I eat fudge. I just eat one piece at a time instead of a whole box at a time!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

That is very sweet and kind of you to say…My skin care trick is sunscreen. Period. My father was a scientist who worked in dermatology research, so I got lectured my whole life about the importance of protecting your skin from the sun, and I’m glad! I also use great products to create a glow, like Ferro Cosmetics bronzer in “glow baby.” I inherited my fathers thick hair, so I guess I have a lot to thank him for! I don’t do much to it, it has a mind of it’s own. Unfortunately I have to color those pesky grays
once a month though!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about your experience of working in 2013 movie Birdemic 2: The Resurrection ?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

That part was different for me because I am usually the glamour girl, but in that film, I have no make up on, because my character was a tree hugger. I think it would have bothered me to go bare faced in my youth, but as I am older I am more secure with myself. I liked the idea of going against the grain. It was a lot of fun. It’s a campy cult film, my son was on set with me. He loves the Birdemic movies!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fashion model girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modeling?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

My Goddaughter wants to be an actress, and I see her worry so much about making it. It breaks my heart, because I want her to enjoy the journey. I would tell any aspiring model or actress to have fun with it. Live in the moment, because the moments are gone before you know it.I loved being in front of the camera but you have to be a little self centered to make it as an actress or a model, and when I became a mother, that wasn’t me anymore. It was a new moment, and now the moments of motherhood are fleeting, as my son is already 13. Every part of life’s journey should be savored. Do not get too excited or too disappointed about anything, because the thing you think was the best thing to ever happen to you could turn out to be the worst and vice versa. Keep an open mind.Live in the now, and know that you are the most important person in the room when you audition, and be in the present moment not only in a scene as an actress, but in your own life.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You own “Carrie Stevens Infamous Family Fudge” which sells fudge online. Launched in 2014, the company’s products are inspired by your grandmother’s recipes for fudge. Tell us more about this endeavor of your?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

I love to cook. When I want to relax, I shut off the phones, turn on some classic rock, like Led Zeppelin or Tom Petty or Van Halen…and I create in the kitchen. My grandmother taught me to make fudge when I was a little girl, and she was my inspiration for launching the business. It’s always wise to have your hand ina lot of cookie jars. The entertainment industry isn’t a stable one, so I have always been entrepreneurial. I offer 12 different flavors of fudge and if you have a sweet tooth, you will love
them all.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have done bold photo shoots with Playboy and other magazines. How you are so body confident and advice to your compatriots?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

I was able to be so body confident in my Playboy shoots because I was an actress for almost a decade before I did Playboy, so I thought of it as a part I was playing. I created this voluptuous sex kitten character, and I became her when I was modeling. It worked for me, and then I was type cast for another decade…but I was grateful I was working, so I have no regrets. I’d be on a photo shoot one day, and the next day be at the hardware store in my sweat pants. I think it’s funny when people imagine my life like I am drinking champagne and being fed peeled grapes all day. It only looks glamorous! Modeling and acting is actually hard work, and physically demanding at times. For the most part, I loved every moment of it.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Ms. Carrie Stevens:

I would like to encourage everyone to worship their bodies. I don’t mean be a conceited gym rat…I mean appreciate your body, because like the saying goes, “if you don’t have your health, you have nothing.” Take care of yourselves. Never stop moving, no matter what the obstacle. My good friend Cindy Rakowitz founded Fit4theCause out of her passion for “Smashing Obstacles”, supporting health needs through fitness motivation and education. She is my inspiration. Not only does she look better than she did when I met here 17 years ago, but her devotion, ambition to enrich the lives of others is what makes her so special. I am so motivated since I went to their 1st annual Miracle of Movement Gala last Saturday night. I met so many people there with that exuded good health & natural beauty…the energy was invigorating and the message of fitness as a health movement is a powerful one. Please visit https://fit4thecause.org to see what all the excitement is about. “Sweet regards….Carrie”
