Checkerboard Prints are Back This Season

There seems to be a new favorite pattern- the checkerboard print that is back into the spotlight this season. The pattern has been reimagined and endorsed by number of luxury fashion houses like Christian Dior, Miu Miu, and Coach.

An instant statement piece, checkerboard print is here to breathe new life into our closets this season. Style veterans Rihanna and Gigi Hadid have already incorporated the semi-neutral print into their wardrobe.

Why Checkerboard Prints Look Great?

Check print looks amazing, no matter if it comes in black, white, yellow, red, green squares. You are free to wear classy prints or go for a quite psychedelic look. Think of checkered mini dresses and skirts, cropped tops completed in fashionable print.

Californian cashmere label The Elder Statesman created plush flared pants in the checked pattern, primed for those days when you want to look like a fun fashion person.

Don’t be shy and let your creativity run wild! Start with one checkerboard item and mix it up with your everyday clothes. For instance, a checkered dress works great with colored heels or ballet pumps, the checkered top can be teamed with simple blue jeans, skinnies, or cut-offs, a checkered pencil skirt can be paired with a silken white blouse and black pumps, etc.

  1. An Off-White checkerboard bag can match well with a white tee and silver/red pants.
  2. Checkerboard denim is a good option to opt for with a leather blazer and heeled booties.
  3. If you are not in for black-white then wear an olive (any colour you like) checkerboard two piece set ( check out Australian brand Holiday The Label.)
  4. A neutral toned poncho with a box print would be great to keep you warm this season.
  5. If you still like a break, go check out Christopher Kane’s refreshing take on the checkerboard trend, going for triangles rather than squares and incorporating cut outs on the boxy, geometric dresses.

Trust me the options are endless, just try it out. You are bound to catch attention. Checkerboard print is a trend that continues to build, and I’m excited that it’s sticking around for S/S 21. It’s a lot more exciting than stripes or polka dots.
