Christmas Abbott is in conversation with Namita Nayyar, President – Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You participated in athletics in your early days while in middle school. During your experience as a civilian contractor in Iraq you found the inspiration to change. It was then that you discovered CrossFit. Later you became a member of the highly-respected CrossFit Headquarters Seminar Staff and led your team to the Mid-Atlantic Regionals for the CrossFit games for consecutively three years. What factors you consider were responsible that made you achieve that?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: Myself and a few others created a “misfit” style team. We were all just in it for the love of competition and wanting to make it to the top. I had never had a team of people like that before so it was so exciting to be on a dedicated team where everyone took their role seriously. There was a lot of learning about each other and ourselves during this time, which is exactly what teamwork is about. Communication was key, and I still stand by that!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have gone through a hard earned professional journey in CrossFit Games. Tell us about your journey of tenacity, discipline and hard work that makes you a phenomena in Crossfit Games?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: I had already completely consumed myself into a fitness lifestyle over the course of a few years, making it my profession through teaching bootcamps, opening my gym, then finally the CF Games. I knew what I wanted and I understood initially what sacrifices it would take to obtain that goal. Once I have my mind set on something, truly set, it’s only a matter of time. I was fortunate enough to have experienced huge sacrifices for a goal through working in Iraq, so I was able to transfer that laser focus to my training.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You are leading media personality, model, business owner, CrossFit competitor, Olympic Lifter, Head Trainer and a NASCAR pit crew front tire changer. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: Ha! Well for one I don’t do ALL of those things at once. I always want to push myself outside of my comfort zone and that has lead to an extraordinary life so far. I love a challenge and want to continue to push my perceived limits past what other people believe isn’t possible. I absolutely love accomplishing the unexpected.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: I get back to basics a lot which are always are composed of a variation of squatting (with and without weights), deadlifting, pressing, and agility work.

I also like to mix up my week with other fitness outlets like yoga, running, and other recreational sports. I think these two things are important to staying well rounded and healthy and to play!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: I follow my own Badass Body Diet Book recommendations. It’s important to understand not only portion control for your sport and body but also quality! I’ve actually been working on an app to help beginners understand the basics of food and nutrition. (They can sign up to be notified when it releases on my website:

Nutrition should be simple and unfortunately it’s not. But my approach keeps the basics and real life in check. Meaning it’s simplified and can be tailored to your level of experience very easily.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding CrossFit training girls who all are your fans, they shall like to know from you, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in field of CrossFit Games ?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: First, have FUN with the process. It won’t always be fun but if you truly love the sport then you will become successful because you will have an unlimited amount of passion. That passion will help you get through those hard training sessions that feel like they will never end.

Second, trust the entire process! Instant gratification demands won’t work in this sport. This sport demands respect from your training methods, recovery, nutrition, sleep, and overall wellness. It is not one dimensional. Be patient with yourself and your growth and respect all the aspects of it.

Third, get coaches and have them talk to you and one another. It takes a team to build an athlete. You have to know exactly where you are, where you want to be, when, and all of your strengths and weaknesses. To understand that much about yourself and your training you need another set of eyes on you.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Elaborate about your experience of being at NASCAR as a front tire changer?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: It was the hardest and most exhilarating thing I have ever done!! I wasn’t interested in it because I didn’t know about it and had a set assumption that I wouldn’t like it. Well, I was WRONG! I saw what was happening during the pit stop demo and needed to try it and fell instantly in love. It was very demanding and difficult but a great experience.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us about your endeavour as a owner and head coach at CrossFit Invoke?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: I love my gym CrossFit Invoke! It all started out from a boot camp I started teaching after moving to Raleigh, NC. From there I had a few friends help coach and I started to coach them on their coaching. Eventually I implemented a system of internship, assistant coach, to coach promotion and have produced several other successful gym owners, CF Games Athletes and CrossFit HQ Seminar Staff members. The community is diverse and my favorite place to be.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: With exceptional hard work you are credited with all your achievements. Do you believe that does the hand of Providence (Supreme Being) played a role in your success?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: Absolutely. It may sound weird but I believe I had such hard times so that I could persevere to tell my story and shine light on God. I’m so thankful that He chose me to do what I have done. It’s nothing short of a miracle that I am in this world today doing what I am and I recognize the power behind that.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your greatest influence and motivator in your success in the field of your career in competitive women CrossFit Games ?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: There really isn’t just ONE. My gym business partner was an early believer that I could, which was a huge shift for me mentally. My mother has always believed I could do anything and her unwavering belief in my ability was always a blessing. Ultimately, I have to say that there has been a lot of people that I wanted to prove wrong, people that said I would never do it or be able to for whatever reason. A lot of people laughed and that was a big push for me.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website and message for its visitors?

Ms. Christmas Abbott: It’s a great diverse website with a ton of different perspectives! I love it because it has the newest in fitness, entertainment, and education.
