Ms. Namita Nayyar:

In 2016, you became the Sprint Overall World Cup Champion, becoming an inspiration for thousands of women who look upto you. Provide us an insight into a day in your life.

Ms. Dajana Eitberger:

Luge is a sport you need different requirements for. We need force, speed and also coordination aspects. So in spring time we do much general sport like runnig, sport with the own body weight and some basic training. This time is also hard because we need a lot of time to train all basics we need in winter. Training starts most at 8.30 am or 9 am then we have a warm up session with playing football or we go for a run. After that we go to the gym for training muscles or we do some technical parts for start in luge. After lunch time we also train for 2 or 3 hours. This part is for core training or agility. In the later afternoon I spend my time at home or with my friends.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

After settling down of this huge victory how does it feel to become the 2018 Silver medalist at the Winter Olympics? Share with us your preparation, training and motivation that has helped you become an Olympic Champion?

Ms. Dajana Eitberger:

The motivation started in 2014 when I was watching the winter games in Sotchi on television. I swore myself: next time I would also start at the games and so my jouney started. The training was hard and I also had problems with my shoulder. But every day I tried to be the best and hold on my dream. For that my medal in silver feels like gold. It is the result and my story of the last 4 years.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Being a soldier by profession and a sportswoman. What exercises comprise your fitness regime both on a daily basis and when you are preparing for competition?

Ms. Dajana Eitberger:

I am not so strong and also not so athletic in my sport. So I have to do a lot more. More of core, more of speed and also more for my force. Our training is also full with training of heavy weight. But the best and also the training I like and getting better and stronger is core for good stability. I don’t like pull ups but these are also part of training.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Adequate monitored nutrition is an essential part in the life of a sports person to cope with the pressure and recover from wear and tear. There is no doubt you too need to take special care of your diet? Do you follow a strict menu to stay healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Dajana Eitberger:

I love food and definitely I love good food. There is no restriction for me. But after season I have to come down with my weight. It is just for me and my body feelings and also when training starts again in April it is easier to handle with my body.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Being a professional athlete, you are a role model for many striving to make it their dream come true, besides your hobbies of motorsport, photographs, diving & kinp sound exciting & adventurous, provide us with some motivational words to help others climb up the ladder of success in sports?

Ms. Dajana Eitberger:

Believe in yourself. There are no special things we have to do: but doing something is important. We just have one life and there is no middleway. Everytime we have to get the best of something.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have expressed your philosophy in life is “Keep calm and wait for snow.”, please elaborate?

Ms. Dajana Eitberger:

Sometimes there are downs. I don’t worry about that. It exists for a reason for everything we have to wait. And about the snow: I don’t like winter but my sport happens in winter and I love the slow falling snowflakes. It is a romatic thing. And sometimes a goof’d result feels like slow falling snowflakes. I am just happy with that.
