5 Face Masks For Healthy Winter Skin

Winter brings cold nights, warm fires, sweaters, and all kinds of outdoor fun. What isn’t fun is dealing with dry, chapped winter skin. Try whipping up a number of different DIY masks using one of the three hydrating bases with key add in ingredients to keep your skin hydrated and healthy during the winter months.

Yogurt Base

Use a plain unflavored organic yogurt for the best results. Yogurt contains a number of essential vitamins like B2 which aids in cell growth and regeneration and helps to hydrates and moisturize the skin.  As a base yogurt is an ideal medium for whipping up a hydrating mask.

Olive Oil Base

Use an organic cold pressed olive oil for the best results. Olive oil moisturizes and fights bacteria. It also contains squalene which helps hold hydration making it an excellent skin solution.

Coconut Oil Base

Use an organic coconut oil for the best results, (please note that coconut oil comes in a semi-solid state and should be gently heated to use in an easily spreadable base. Test on the inside of your arm like a baby bottle to ensure correct temperature.)  Coconut is triple threat masking base offering superior hydration, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.

Honey

This antibacterial force of nature is both soothing and moisturizing making it a perfect mix in ingredient for any facial mask.

Oat

All skin types of skin, even ultra-sensitive skin benefit from oatmeal’s gentle exfoliation. This mix in ingredient helps remove dead skin cells revealing the glowing skin underneath. It is rich in protein and lipids making it an excellent addition to a hydrating mask.

Banana

The bright yellow package holds a moisturizing powerhouse that contains essential vitamins and minerals like potassium and Vitamins E and C.  An added bonus to using bananas… you can rub the inside of the banana peel directly on your skin to help combat acne breakouts.
