The Apprentice 2016’s Frances Bishop Talks About Her Journey, Fitness, Diet & More.

frances bishop

Frances Bishop is a young businesswoman from Doncaster, England. She is the owner of a children’s clothing company, The Pud Store. Entering The Apprentice series 12, she described herself as talkative with a feisty personality – which she believes is what has got her so far in the business world. She also said,”I’m a pocket rocket. I’m quite fiery and live by the rule ‘kill them with kindness.”

She has entered various beauty pageants including Miss Nottingham 2011 and Miss Great Britain 2013.

The entrepreneur, who describes herself as an ‘Anti Wag’, has been on the losing team almost every week since the series began. However she impressed Lord Sugar and his aides with her sweet sales talk throughout the series. Frances got very close to being in the final, coming third in The Apprentice in 2016.

Lets take some fitness & business tips from Frances Bishop as she catches up with Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You are the former Miss Nottingham 2011 and Miss Great Britain 2013 entrant. You  caught the public eye by becoming a semi-finalist in the highly acclaimed game show “The Apprentice” 2016. Tell us more about this incredible journey and how it all began?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I first applied for the show the day before the closing date, and had no idea that I’d end up being selected! It all felt rather surreal. For a while people had been telling me to apply and that I’d do well!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your life.

Ms. Frances Bishop:

It’s pretty chaotic most of the day! Each day I’ll get up, make Oscar’s breakfast and his packed lunch for pre-school. Neal will pop the coffee on (we can’t start our day without good coffee!), then he’ll walk the dog whilst I get Oscar ready. Neal drops Oscar off each day as depending which store I’m at I have about an hour commute to work! Once I get into store I’ll make sure both shops know exactly whats on the agenda for that day. Online orders will be packed and sent, and I’ll spend the day doing what needs to be done! It get can pretty hectic in Pud! Each day is different and I love that – it keeps it fun. I usually get home around 6pm, and we will have dinner as a family…I’m pretty boring in that I’m in bed most nights by 9pm!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You are TV personality, businesswoman, celebrity, a wife and a mother. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I wouldn’t say I’m a celebrity at all! Probably just a little more in the public eye. I love my family, and they are always at the centre of everything I do. I disagree when people say you cant have it all. I think you can, its just about balance and loving what you do. If you don’t love what you do…then why expend so much energy on it! My business is my second baby, and work never feels like work so I think that’s probably why I can balance everything,

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I was a former world Karate Champion, and as a teen and in my early 20’s I loved running. That was my release. Now though as life gets more hectic, I’m on my feet most of the day…I actually wear my running trainers to work most days, as I find I’m not only more productive but my feet don’t hurt! Neal is very fit and shows me a few of his routines which is great if I had time!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What kind of diet do you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I’m lucky I live with an athlete as there’s always a drawer full of Holland and Barret goodness in my house! I take Acai tablets which helps bloating and energy levels – its natural too! I love kale and spinach but I also love chocolate and cake! Neal mostly cooks in our house so he keeps me in check with eating well.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your haircare and skincare routine.

Ms. Frances Bishop:

At the moment I have Great Lengths extensions in by Malcom Murphy – he is fantastic and has got my hair back into a fabulous condition as so much fell out with Oscar. They’re the first extensions I’ve had which haven’t damaged my hair. I wear quite little make up on a day to day basis which I find leaves my skin nice. I’m lucky to have oily skin which means I don’t get many lines although I do suffer with dark circles! I’d say to anyone though – get a good hairdresser who can make you feel confident and tint eyebrows and lashes so you end up wearing less make up.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You describe yourself as an ‘Anti-Wag’. What does that mean?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

When people think of a WAG, they think Orange tan and yellow hair and people who milk their husbands wealth. One, Neal doesn’t earn that much he plays in League one…and Two – I’m the furthest thing from a WAG possible! I just want to have my own independence.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Share with us your Top 5 Fashion Must-haves for 2017.

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I like to keep in classic. Blacks, whites and reds. I wear my Tiffany key everyday and that’s sort of my statement piece. I think every girl needs a good black jumpsuit, a trusty pair of skinny jeans, white shirt, statement coat and pop out color pieces.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

During your school years, you won the world karate championships in 2007. Share with us your experience training for Karate.

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I trained 4 nights a week after school during competition times. Each session would be 2.5 hours and all high intensity training…so it was fair to say I was shattered!! I miss the abs!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about your current business, a children’s clothing boutique, Pud! What are your future goals concerning the business?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

I own two stores at the moment – Doncaster & Newark with plans to open a third in March. Online is almost ready to launch – The Pud Store so we are just pushing the growth of the business. Its amazing to see how much we are growing every day…!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

How has your experience been on the show The Apprentice? What are the 3 things that you will always remember about it?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

1) That ghetto comment
2) Watching the sunset at the top of the chard
3) Selling two boats!!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Ms. Frances Bishop:

Don’t focus on being skinny. Be healthy and happy in your body. The happier you are, the easier your goals will be to reach.
