You have become an inspiration for millions of women and young girls all around the world since you started modeling. Walk us through your spectacular modeling journey and tell us how it all began?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

Thank you so much! Many people don’t know, I started as singer/songwriter (which I still am) in Kindergarten. Since I started at an early age, I naturally got into acting in the 5th grade which led me to plus size modeling in 7th grade when I was 12! After that, I fell in love with modeling – not only do I inspire others, but just like acting, I can dress up, be inspired by myself, and be someone different in each different outfit.

Introduce us to a day in your life.

Ms. Hayley Herms:

NO day is the same for me, I am constantly on the go and if I have free time, I’m using it WISELY. You’ll never catch me doing nothing. The only thing that is consistent are my mornings, I usually wake up, work out, shower or bath then start my day my accordingly – from photoshoots, acting sets, recording studio, business meetings, I do it all 24/7!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine to stay fit and healthy?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

I have a trainer who gives me a different exercise to do every day. My personal favorite is doing burpees, plank jacks, followed up by cardio such as hiking or jogging. Even though burpees and plank jacks aren’t most people’s favorite, I love them because I’m working out all parts of my body in one exercise rather than just focusing on one. And with my schedule… my work out move quick, are very intense, yet easy with a busy schedule so I can lose weight fast and consistently.

Tell us your Top 5 Favorite Healthy Foods or Recipes.

Ms. Hayley Herms:

  1. Chicken breast cooked in low sodium chicken broth topped with roasted broccoli with a sprinkle of mozzarella on the top
  2. Broccoli & Yams lightly tossed in hot sauce (yes I know it sounds strange but it tastes so good like sweet and sour. It’s a great way to increase your water intake and eat vegetables if you hate them like me)
  3. English muffin, over easy egg, grilled chicken, with raw avocado
  4. Greek Yogurt
  5. Skinny Pop

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your haircare and skincare routine.

Ms. Hayley Herms:

The main secrets for glowing skin and can’t stress enough – make sure you take off your make up before bed and WATER. My skincare I primary use that saved my life is from PaulasChoice.com – you seriously have to check out her site, products, and reviews if you’re a skin junky like me. As for hair – I try not to use too much heat on it (i.e straighteners, blow dryers, etc) and I use coconut oil for conditioner every 3 days!

For a plus-zise model whose just starting out, what would be your Top 3 tips?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

1. Have your own photoshoot to create your portfolio – don’t wait to be discovered
2. Realize in the beginning – it’ll cost you a lot of free time, gas, miles, etc., but if you really want it, its worth the work. You have to be willing to put in the work.
3. BE EASY TO WORK WITH – don’t throw fits on set, don’t complain about the shoes they put you in, you’re a model, thats your job to be a canvas.

In the present day scenario, with the rise of social media, how do you think has social media impacted an everyday woman, bringing in multi-fold opportunities to them? Also, what according to you is the one worst thing about it?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

I think social media has been able to show the everyday woman that there are more “everyday” beautiful woman than just main the “everyday” woman we are shown by society through movies and commercials. Its given all types of diverse woman, diverse platforms to have their voices heard and bring in a community around them that feels like a family. In general, I hate social media and try to spend as much time away from it as possible – the worst thing about is how sick in the head people can get by how much time we waste obsessing over people in unhealthy fashions. My favorite tip – if you follow people that make you feel obsessed or addicted and/or not good enough to be you – have the power to hit the unfollow button and walk away.

Tell us your Top 5 Fashion Secrets to look gorgeous and glamorous?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

1. Smile more – everyone loves a great smile and inner beauty REALLY does show through
2. Eyelash extensions – such a time saver and make up saver and you wake up immediately feeling glamorous
3. A great moisturizer – perfect skin + no chapped lips = luminous glow and full looking lips (I love the Chanel Le Lift cream or Hope in a Jar with SPF, personally)
4. Sleep – Getting more sleep will help you look more rested AND lose weight
5. Confidence – confidence is key with anything

You have modeled for many magazines and brands. What is your motivation and inspiration behind being so beautifully body confident?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

My motivation is definitely all the women and men of all shapes and sizes that message me telling me how much I’ve inspired, some even telling me I saved their lives. There’s literally no better feeling than to think because I walk out in the door in a tank top – it gave someone happiness and confidence to survive. My inspiration is my craving for freedom. I have to live my life free, I have to live my life for me. I could never let society or anyone hold me down.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

The fashion industry has had an incredible breakthrough, getting over the norm of stereotype shapes and sizes, but it still has a long way to go. What according to you are the 3 lessons that it still needs to learn?

Ms. Hayley Herms:

The fashion industry definitely needs to learn how to design for plus size women & men – we want to wear the same cute shit everyone else is. Second, the fashion industry definitely needs to calm down on the photoshop, I literally saw an add that had a models knee cap photoshopped out for a thinner appearance, so crazy. Lastly, equal pay, the industry tends to pay straight size models and not pay or play less to the plus models, they definitely need to learn that both types of models are of value.
