While there she studied Commercial & Advertising Art and earned a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). She began her modeling career in her early 20s, which led to numerous fashion shoots culminating in her being crowned Playboy Playmate of the Year New Zealand in July 2022. The Latin beauty, who thrives on travel, having visited all corners of the world for both work and pleasure, currently, resides in Los Angeles.

Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with exceptionally talented Jamy G, she is New Zealand Playboy Playmate 2022 to talk about her fitness routine, diet, skin care, hair care and her incredible success story.

Namita Nayyar:

You were born at Westport, Connecticut US. You relocated to New York City at the age of seventeen years to pursue fashion. There you studied Commercial & Advertising Art and earned a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Later you decided to pursue modeling and did numerous fashion shoots. You currently reside in Los Angeles. This later propelled your career to the height where you have been at the top of the world of modeling and crowned Playboy Playmate of the Year New Zealand in July 2022. Tell us more about your professional journey of exceptional hard work, tenacity, and endurance.

Jamy G:

There were definitely moments, and still are, where I doubt myself to the point that I was making decisions based on what others wanted of me, not what I wanted for myself. I was constantly struggling with that lack of confidence and second guessing myself. But what I learned from my life experiences was that if I didn’t nip the self-limiting thoughts in the bud right away, this “poor me” mind set could become debilitating. I have also definitely surrounded myself with only my “biggest fans” — the friends, family, and peers who are always there for me and think I’m the cat’s meow. I like to nurture those relationships and get confidence from them!

Namita Nayyar:

It is a dream for a model to be featured in Playboy. You became Playboy Playmate of the Year New Zealand in July 2022. Tell us more about this spectacular achievement of yours.

Jamy G:

When I got the call, I was on such a high! And I also remember thinking to myself, finally! Playboy said, “I was a good brand ambassador and I really stood for what it was that they were trying to revamp.”

Namita Nayyar:

You are a world-leading social media personality, supermodel, certified nutritionist, health enthusiast, and brand ambassador. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Jamy G:

I eat my piece of humble pie every day. It’s really easy to get swept up in the LA lifestyle of the who’s who and the what’s what. If I’m not pursuing multiple paths toward a fulfilling meaningful life then am I even living? It’s so crucial to cultivate multiple aspects of who you are, because if one of these dimensions disappears, the other facets will carry you through.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Jamy G:

Oh, that’s easy. Strength training or weight/resistance with the use free weights and weight machines is what I focus on. I believe even just using your body weight has way more benefits than traditional cardio. You will never sculpt a body with cardio.

Namita Nayyar:

How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.

Jamy G:

I definitely like to keep the size of my waistline small. Just being even a little bulky around the belly and having too much visceral fat can increase your risk of high cholesterol and heart disease. My little secret to giving the illusion of a tiny waist is working on your back. Building and toning your back can totally change the way your body looks. Wide-grip cable pulldowns, rowing motions from different angles. I also don’t really do side abs because they can build and make you look bulky. So I love a bicycle crunch and leg lift. And I always keep in mind that abs are built in the kitchen first!

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Jamy G:

I’m mainly pescatarian. I typically eat organic berries, veggies, nuts, seeds, whole grains, eggs, wild-caught fish and seafood. Following this specific type of lifestyle is super beneficial to your heart health and is very anti-inflammatory.

Namita Nayyar:

Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.

Jamy G:

Can’t live without avocado, organic oatmeal with berries and honey, wild-caught salmon, sweet potatoes, and I love my rice. Foods I try and keep to a minimum are carrot cake, chocolate covered almonds, key lime pie, popcorn and fried anything.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.

Jamy G:

Eating my Omega-3s for skin and hair is number one. What you put in your body is a reflection of you. I also live in West Hollywood where if your skin and hair aren’t fabulous, everyone will tell you! [laughs] With that said, don’t believe everything you see. I wear a lot of expensive, beautiful, luxury hair — and very high-end make up!

Namita Nayyar:

Five skincare myths.

Jamy G:

  1. My number one skincare myth is the fact that people think they don’t need sunscreen just because you’re not in direct sunlight. But if it’s daytime — even if the sun isn’t shining or it’s cloudy, there are still UV rays reaching your skin.
  2. Even if you have oily skin you need to moisturize. Oily skin does not mean your skin is hydrated.
  3. Drinking water will not clear up your acne; however, it will keep you hydrated and keep your skin from looking puffy and sallow. If you keep your skin hydrated, it will keep you from producing excess oil that can lead to acne.
  4. Expensive products don’t always work the best. Sometimes less expensive products work well too.
  5. Hot showers are not always good for your skin. They can literally strip your skin of essential oils. Stick to lukewarm water, and then slather on the moisturizer.

Namita Nayyar:

Five athletic leisure brands you love to wear.

Jamy G:

Well, Lululemon of course! They should get me a brand deal with how much I promote them [laughs]. In fact, I’m not really sure I even wear anything else.

Namita Nayyar:

Five travel destinations on your wish list.

Jamy G:

I’ve always wanted to do the Holy land tour in Jerusalem, which include the sea of Galilee and Nazareth. Another is an African safari. I’d love to stay at that hotel where giraffes come and eat your food from your hotel window! I also want to stay in a glass igloo and see the northern lights. That sounds so dreamy to me. And there are still many parts of Asia I need to see, like Vietnam and Singapore.

Namita Nayyar:

You walked the red carpet at “Once Upon a Time on Halloween” produced by @maxeventsllc and @teatro_la held at Nightingale in Los Angeles, California USA on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Elaborate more about this milestone in your professional life.

Jamy G:

I used to always go to red carpet events but skipped the carpet because I never thought I was anyone to be photographed. But now I’m THAT girl. I’ve found the confidence to be in front of those flashing lights.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us more about a day in the life of Jamy G?

Jamy G:

I’m an early riser and love my mornings! I start by getting a healthy, nutrient-dense breakfast in me and having an amazing workout or take a strength class. Then I like to hop on the laptop or iPhone and start to get things going with work opportunities and collabs. There is always an event going on and I’m not a big outfit repeater, so I like to scope out the shops and dig for cool pieces to put together for my nights out. I love cooking my organic meals. But if I’m not doing that then I’m usually at a fun, trendy restaurant in Hollywood or Beverly Hills. I love my simple, crazy life and am truly grateful for it.

Namita Nayyar:

We see that you’ve done some bold photoshoots for a number of fashion brands and Playboy on your Instagram handle @ilovejamyg. How you are so body confident? And advice to your compatriots?

Jamy G:

I’m not as confident as people may think [laughs]. I think I’ve conquered the “fake it till you make it” concept. I guess I’m pretty hard on myself sometimes but I’m working on that.

Namita Nayyar:

Your idea of a perfect date?

Jamy G:

The perfect date is me laughing a lot. If I’m smiling, he’s going to be winning. Of course, every girl loves a lavish dinner or luxury random trip. But I enjoy the smaller things too, like the movies or a hike.

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and the message for its visitors?

Jamy G:

I’m truly honored and grateful to even be included on Women Fitness. I’ve always been a huge fan. I guess my message would be that I like to portray a vision of health whether it be doing something nice for someone or engaging in self-care to make yourself a better person inside and out. And I think that’s something everyone could benefit from.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding model girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of modeling?

Jamy G:

Always treat people with respect and show up with outright love. You want to be known for being kind, not infamous for being a bitch.

Namita Nayyar:

You have an impressive Instagram following of 56.6k followers. A message for your ardent admirers.

Jamy G:

I love you all! Even through the ups and the downs, my fans are always sweet and loyal.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a certified nutritionist and a health enthusiast. Elaborate on this endeavor of your talent and pursue a career in this specialization of yours.

Jamy G:

I’m just following and doing what I’m passionate about. I love anything that has to do with health, nutrition, and helping others! I also love glamour and fashion. I’m trying to figure out how I can mold everything into one and turn it into an awesome business [laughs]. Also, I would love to give a special shout-out to Keri Glassman and her school, The Nutritious Life Studio. She and her team really pushed me and taught me the fundamental things I needed to learn about health and nutrition. It’s also where I received my certification to be the coach that I am today.
