Namita Nayyar:

As a 2x World Junior Champion, Australian Champion and Pro Junior Champion, You are currently competing in the 7th year on the WSL Women’s World Tour where you have consistently finished in the Top 10. What was the biggest motivation for you to take up surfing professionally?

Laura Enever:

I started surfing when I was 10 years old and just loved being in the ocean everyday. The competitions were so much fun when I was younger and before I knew it I had qualified for the WSL World Tour when I was 18. I still pinch myself everyday that I actually turned surfing into my job. The Last 7 years I’ve been competing full time on the World tour (which like any sport/job comes along with lots of ups and downs). After a couple of injuries this year I’ve put competing aside to get stronger and focus more on Big Wave Surfing which has been a fun, new challenge.

Namita Nayyar:

You are considered one of the world’s best female surfers. How would you like to define your signature surfing style?

Laura Enever:

I’m not sure! I guess I would say my surfing style is a bit like my personality – fun, fast and unpredictable ha!

Namita Nayyar:

Surfing those strong waves you need to be physically & mentally sound. Share with us your workout routine that you follow to stay fit for the competitions.

Laura Enever:

Although the best fitness for surfing is surfing, I would be lost without clinical Pilates – It has helped me strengthen my body, re-align and overcome injuries. I also add in weight training and a bit of cardio (my least favourite). I’ve got a lot of energy so love to slow down, stretch and meditate too.

Namita Nayyar:

Along with working out, it is also essential to eat right. What does your meal routine in a day look like?

Laura Enever:

After Traveling so much I’ve realized how important it is to have a good routine on the road. I love eating as healthy as possible – lots of fruits, veggies and clean food but also never restrict myself from eating something yummy! How can you not try the bread, cheese and wine in Europe 😉

Namita Nayyar:

Your sport requires you to be all out in the sun and sea, still, you possess a glowing skin and gorgeous hair. How do you maintain them?

Laura Enever:

I’ve always been very good about keeping my skin protected in the surf. I won’t go in the water without Zinc or sunscreen (Shiseido zinc foundation is my fav). I learnt my lesson about looking after my hair – when I was younger my ends were literally fried and had to be chopped off! Since then I always have leave in conditioner handy when I get out of the surf to put in my hair immediately!

Namita Nayyar:

You have faced a few injuries that kept you from going on tour this year, how is your recovery progressing & share your exercises to regain back your strength?

Laura Enever:

Yep, injuries are the worst but they come along with any sport! I’ve had a few knee, hip and shoulder problems the last few years but Clinical Pilates and Physio has been the best to get my body back to feeling 100%. With Pilates you can focus on the weakest parts of your body and strengthen and stretch at the same time.

Namita Nayyar:

While not surfing, what other projects are you working on this year?

Laura Enever:

This year I’ve got a few exciting projects in the works. One being ‘UNDONE’ a film following my Big wave surfing adventures, which will be finished next year. I’ve also been working on some other fun creative projects and events which will be coming soon!

Namita Nayyar:

You seem to enjoy modelling and love fashion! Share with us your top 5 fashion essentials for this season.

Laura Enever:

I love collaborating with creative people in the fashion and surf industry – It’s been fun coming up with fun shoots or films in cool places. My top 5 fashion essentials would have to be – A oversize button up Shirt (live in one most days of my life), a pair of High waisted jeans or pants, Leather boots, some vintage sunglasses, lether belt and any jumpsuit!

Namita Nayyar:

What advice would you like to give to the inspiring and budding professional female surfers who are your fans?

Laura Enever:

To follow your intuition in and out of the surf and always remember why you started – for the love!

Namita Nayyar:

With over 426K followers on your Instagram account @lauraenever, you’re a social media favourite. Though it is a fantastic way to connect with your fans, it can sometimes also be invasive and overwhelming. How do you manage to create a balance so that it doesn’t take over too much of your life?

Laura Enever:

Social Media is great to connect people and thank you to anyone out there following my journey – But I do make sure it does not take over my life or define me. I’ve been lucky enough to be shot by some talented photographers when I surf so I love sharing their beautiful ocean imagery. At the end of the day I try to keep social media fun, stay authentic and post what I like.

Namita Nayyar:
