Women Fitness President catches up with Reality TV Star talking about her journey in the world of glamour and entertainment.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a former bodybuilder and fitness fanatic, who appeared first on Gladiators as a contestant and then on the 2008 series of Big Brother. Walk us through this spectacular journey and tell us how it all began?

Lisa Appleton:

Growing up I was an athlete and a member of Warrington athletic club where I competed in track events, cross country and marathons, I won many competitions and was heading for county trials till I got injured when I was 15 and had to stop training for a while, I was gutted as I was a member of gymnastics club and swimming club too, my dad was an athlete and rugby player which inspired me to train in athletics, taking after my dad, I won many athletic races cross country and marathons.

After my daughter was born in 1990 I was 21 at the time I decided to start training in a body building gym to tone up and put weight on! The hard labour gym in Latchford has been my second home for 20 years big part of my life. I was lucky to be trained and motivated by the late John Pritchard followed by his son David Pritchard who our professional at body building , fitness and nutrition.

Soon I was shaping up and was asked to appear on ITVs body heat, a gladiator type show. I auditioned and got picked for it proving super fit strength and stamina and beat Olympic athlete Tessa Sanderson on a gruelling virtual 3 half mile mountain bike ride! Soon after I was picked for Fear Factor U.K. A competitive daring stunt show between 2 teams, I have always had that adventure and energy in me to achieve success in fitness, soon after I upped my body building and won Miss Wigan and came 3rd in Miss Stoke whilst juggling motherhood with training. It was challenging at times however rewarding! I auditioned for Gladiators and they rang me up showing interest, saying I stood out in the crowd and looked more like a gladiator than a contestant and would I be interested in training as a gladiator, the show unfortunately was axed that year due to too many injuries that had taken place! For a while I attended events as a look alike gladiator which was great fun and took part in some charity and TV events where the gladiators were taking part into! I continued auditioning for tv shows as I enjoyed the thrill & buzz of travelling, socialising and entertaining!

I appeared on many TV quiz shows in the grid with Les Dennis, golden balls hosted by Lez Dennis, golden lot with Carol Verdamon and many other TV shows, but nothing could prepare me for the life challenging hit reality show Big Brother I auditioned ‘they loved me’ at the audition process I stood out in the crowd and came across very different diverse with my natural ability to entertain and character!

Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your life.

Lisa Appleton:

A typical day in my life is quite a variety, usually soughting out emails, chatting to my agent in the morning, working on my social media, doing my who’ll win video vlogs, walk the dog, press photo shoots, meetings, journalist interviews, attending charity work events and VIP events, filming for TV channels, travelling, photo shoots glamour abroad spending time with my family as often as can, cleaning the house, cooking, and continuous working on my social media replying back to as many questions, messages, emails from my fanbase as much as possible as I worship my fans and any interest they show in me I’m very grateful for. Meditating and visiting holistic therapist Claire Stone for healing and meditation treatments! Gym time too usually my days are pretty full.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may like to share?

Lisa Appleton:

I vary my fitness routine from time to time, I generally do 40 mins cardio at gym using different machines, stair master, ski -machine, jogger, ladder climber, then train on certain body parts i.e.: legs , glutes and stomach body conditioning, then other days back and biceps, chest and triceps, shoulders, some weeks I will do outdoor training running in sand dunes and on the beach and bare footed, do low impact aerobics and body conditioning by the sea as it’s very good to connect to the earth’s electrical energy.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Lisa Appleton:

Past year I have cut out gluten as much as possible even though I love sausages, I do eat a lot of protein, rice and veg, baked spuds with cheese beans, tuna mayo, chilli concarne, chicken curry all with salad, gluten free Speg Bol, homemade soups and I’m just getting into juicing vegetables more, variety of nuts, dried fruits and dates ‘not men by the way lol’.

Cottage cheese avacado salad, eggs most mornings packed with nutrition and I love red wine and white wine! Treats are dark chocolate and strawberries, cheese and gluten free crackers.

Namita Nayyar:

Share with us your haircare and skincare routine?

Lisa Appleton:

I try not to over wash my hair as it actually makes it more greasy. Every now and then I will leave olive oil or coconut oil on my hair for the whole night tie it up, wash it off following morning and it’s much more silky and conditioned! I’ll tie it in plats which makes it wavy few days later and wear it loose which gives my hair a break from damaging hair straighteners and too much heat! For my skin, I don’t use sunbeds and don’t burn my skin in the sun, I wear an SPF 30 protector in my make up or just on skin when out doors, I exfoliate every few days with gentle skin products and sponge, cleanse and moisturise twice a day and make sure I never drag the skin and rub too hard as skin round eyes is delicate, so upward strokes going up the neck, jaw and cheeks.

Namita Nayyar:

You have had an incredible body transformation dropping from a size 16 to a size 12. Tell us more about your transformation.

Lisa Appleton:

Thank you, yes well I piled on weights as let myself go a bit due to depression, comfort eating after a few years of disasters , it’s also harder when you’re in your late 40’s to stay in shape so I turned to a top surgeon Doctor Ian Morgan who performed £22,000 worth of surgery on me I had Jet lipo which is less evasive than lipo this was on my waist, lower stomach, around belly button and higher abdomen, removed few pounds of fat and contoured my waste line. Amazing, also had a lower neck and face lift which gave me my jaw line back and removed sagging muscles and had my upper eyelids lifted removing sagging skin, results were amazing knocked years off me and restored some youth.

Namita Nayyar:

In August 2017, you unveiled your new look after undergoing a major “body” plastic surgery costing £10,000. What tips would you like to give to the other women who plan to undergo such a surgery?

Lisa Appleton:

Advice for women wanting surgery is, get in touch with a reputable surgeon like the one I had my surgery done by doctor Ian Morgan, keep the surgery natural looking, so reversing any ageing that has took place rather than going for a plastic look , follow the after care instructions that are given its very important as part of the recovery, eat healthy foods before, during and after surgery which will help the recovery period and healing.

Namita Nayyar:

Who has been your greatest influence and motivator in your success in your life?

Lisa Appleton:

I have to thank my mum and dad for been the most influential people in my life lucky to have had a great upbringing and the opportunities they gave me and support taking me to all my athletic clubs and training and competitions for years and yes much more homemade food and encouragement which has helped me get through difficult challenges in my life with inner strength and wisdom.

Namita Nayyar:

With a massive following who look upto you and follow you, how does it feel that you are able to influence and inspire the healthy lifestyle of so many individuals?

Lisa Appleton:

I love to inspire people for a much better lifestyle as I know what a difference it has made to my life and well-being having been fit, healthy, positive mind frame throughout my life, it’s very rewarding to see results in people you have inspired and see them happy and well I have always spent lot of time advising people how to be motivated into making those important life changing tweaks to their eating habits, fitness regime, way of thinking and over all positive vibration I give to people stands out and has benefitted many which means the world to me, my prescience and aura is one of love and light and strength of character which lot of people are drawn to!
