Marzia Prince: World Hottest Professional Bikini competitor & Ms. Bikini Universe Reveals Her Fitness Secrets

 

Marzia Prince is an award winning international fitness expert with over 12 years of experience. She is certified personal trainer with expertise in all genres of fitness. She holds many certifications including physical fitness, pre/postnatal, geriatrics, nutrition, bio-mechanics in resistance training, and life coaching. Not only does she teach health and wellness, Marzia took her fitness to the next level and became a bikini fitness competitor in her 30’s.

She went on to win the 2007 Ms Bikini Universe at 32 years old. This launched her fitness modeling career. She was one of the pioneers that brought the bikini fitness bodies to the bodybuilding world. She was also one of the very first IFBB bikini pros and earned the 3rd IFBB bikini pro card ever at 35 years old. She was an IFBB bikini pro competitor for 5 years which landed her a spokes modeling gig with heavyweight supplement giant Gaspari Nutrition. Marzia was the original Gaspari girl in their award winning ads. She has been on countless covers and layouts through the bodybuilding and fitness industry that include Oxygen, Iron Man, Fitness, Natural Muscle, and many more.

Through her health journey, Marzia went the organic holistic path. She now believes in a plant-based diet. She is currently signed with SunWarrior, and organic holistic company that aligned with her core beliefs. Being an athlete and fitness model has helped Marzia understand different areas of health and fitness. She is finally at her health bliss at this stage in her life. The holistic and wellness lifestyle is Marzia Prince’s passion that she created the brand Healthinista to educate women to design their own bodies via fitness and food. She believes being healthy will never go out of style.

With all the photo shoots she did over the years, she realized that her passion was not only for holistic health, but for cruelty-free fashion, photography, wardrobe styling, make up, and hosting. Many fitness shoots styled her old school 80’s or generic fitness wear. Marzia would change her wardrobe and amp it up so that it looked more high fashion. Now in her 40’s, she has started her own fitness and fashion blog called the Healthinista, due to all her fans asking her for health and fitness fashion advice. Much like a fashionista styles you with clothes, Marzia styles you with health. All her styling from food to fashion is cruelty-free. One of her favorite catch phrases you will hear her say is “Faux real?”

Marzia Prince is an exceptionally talented and accomplished professional Bikini competitor, Fitness supermodel and Fitness Expert. She has been Ms. Bikini Universe winner. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar President Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You were physically active most of your life from high school sports to taking aerobic classes. You were 23 years old that you hired your first personal trainer and learned how to lift. You were motivated and transformed yourself into a shapely woman. Later you completed college degree to become a physical fitness specialist. You reached the pinnacle of success by winning 2007 Ms Bikini Universe at 32 years of age. Tell us about your journey that took you to the top of the world of fitness?


Ms. Marzia Prince:

Wow, it has been a crazy, fun, rewarding journey! It blows me away and I am still grateful where I am now. I grew up on the standard American diet, an unhealthy lifestyle, so to be where I am today, it amazes me. Processed foods were my normal nutrition and I even worked at a fast food restaurant for three years and ate that stuff every day. I had no idea what eating healthy was until I took a nutrition class in college. It was around the same time I hired my first personal trainer for strength training. Then it hit me, I had put 2 and 2 together that I needed to eat real whole foods to build a healthy body.

It was not an easy journey. It took me years to get the nutrition down, working out seemed easier to me. Once I got the nutrition down and embraced it, my life changed. I started loving food I never thought I would like. I started feeling better, thinking more clearly than ever before, and my ambition to get things done in life was at an all-time high. I felt like I could conquer anything. Every time I set a goal, I would accomplish it. I felt living my new healthy lifestyle changed my life for the better. I had my own personal story to share with others that my passion for a healthy lifestyle was infectious to everyone I met. I had no idea my energy and passion for what I believed would shine through me and others would notice.

What is even crazier was that I was always shy and super insecure for my first 28 years of life. So, to be outgoing and confident was a new thing for me. I was loving my new personality. I was so much happier than I had ever been in my life. I was in my 30’s before I really started loving me. Everything was falling into place for me. I had a successful personal training business, I was a fitness model (something I never thought I would ever be in my life!), and I was competing in one of the largest fitness bikini pageants at 32. I am definitely a late bloomer in life and that is ok. I now am a firm believer you can start your journey at any age.

After winning Ms Bikini Universe, that moment was epic for me. It took my fitness career to a whole new level. I felt like it was a pinch me moment when I look back. For the next six years following that win, I was in hundreds of fitness and bodybuilding magazines, I was being hired for appearances all over the world to speak about my journey, and I learned a whole new world I did not know existed. It was a more public me. I was an introvert by nature. So be this public socially and speaking in front of thousands of people was both exciting and nerve racking. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me to live life in the moment. I made lots of mistakes and said the wrong things, but I don’t regret anything, I just learn to be better for the next situation. You have to learn, grow, and experience each moment in life to be the best you can be.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You are a physical fitness specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutritionist. But with exceptional physical training you achieved the enviable transformation of your body. Tell us more about your body transformation success?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

Growing up I was a skinny kid. I could eat tons of fast food and processed foods and never gain a pound. Some people would say that was a blessing, but I was not healthy. From a young age I was aware of my body because people would make it an issue that I was skinny. The adults would tell me to eat all the time. The kids at school made fun of me saying I had a boy body and no breast. So, being teased for being skinny growing up was not fun. I could eat anything and everything and not a pound gained. I was in sports in high school and got even skinnier because I was active.

It wasn’t till I hired my first personal trainer that I learned to lift weights heavy. My trainer told me it would take years to put on muscle because I had a high metabolism. I had to be patient. So from 23-28 years old, I lifted and my body was starting to take shape. At this time, I was eating both processed foods and whole foods. I had incorporated more real whole foods, but still smashing my face with tons of really bad processed foods I was eating about 3000-4000 calories a day to put on muscle. I had a diet high in animal protein at that time and was learning my nutrition health journey. If I took off of weight training, I would lose weight and muscle. I would go from shapely back to a skinny stick body. I had to keep consistent if I wanted to keep my shapely figure.

At 28, after becoming a fitness specialist and being certified in nutrition, I cut out all processed foods. My body had the most dramatic transformation after I did this. From 28-32 years old, I ate only real whole foods heavy focus on animal protein and only ate processed foods for a cheat. It was not in my daily diet like it used to be. At 32 years old is when I decided to compete because I was at my best physical shape in my life.

My metabolism was slowing down, I added more muscle, and I was eating at this point, the cleanest I have ever eaten in my life. When I hit 35 years old, I earned my IFBB pro card. It was a very special moment for me. I trained so hard and ate so clean to get there. Plus, being 35 and competing against 18 years old, I could not believe it. It showed me that the fitness industry is not biased on age. I loved it! Plus, now my body was maturing, my metabolism was slowing down. I could keep my muscle finally without deflating like a balloon.

 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

How has your background of having a college degree as a physical fitness specialist been a catalyst in your success of becoming a fitness expert?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

I was going to school for nursing at the time. It wasn’t until my last semester of college that I decided to be a physical fitness specialist. I wanted to help people before they got sick in the hospital. I quit my last semester in college and did not get my nursing degree. I decided to go to Cooper Institute here in Dallas and achieve every health and fitness certification I could get before I started my business.

I wanted to be the best fitness trainer I could be for my clients. I think my experience with each client I trained helped me become successful fitness expert. Word of mouth is the best advertising. Transformation after transformation I was building a successful business. To this day even when a former client comes back, it is really a compliment. I love helping other people change their lives.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a bikini perfect physique?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

I wouldn’t say I have the perfect bikini physique, but I do try to be in the best shape I can be because as a trainer, my body is my billboard. I have to stay in shape all year round to a great example to my clients. I practice what I preach. I do a mix of strength training, barre, yoga, and cardio dance class. I love a mix of different workouts to keep my body guessing and so I don’t get bored. I try to be active 5-6 days a week, about an hour per day.

What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

I have been living a plant-based diet for the past 5 1/2 years. I eat 70-80% raw. I eat about 5-6 times a day. I don’t count calories. I try to eat real organic plant-based foods as medicine to heal my cells in my body. I eat plant-based proteins and carbs for my all my meals. I just watch my healthy fat intake. Everything is trial and error till you get it right for you. I don’t believe in a one size fits all nutrition program. But I do believe in a plant-based life for everyone.

Now in my 40’s, I have to eat as real as I can for optimal health. I love how I feel eating this way. So much energy and life in me! I am not trying to look younger for my age; I am just trying to be healthy for my age. Now I can look at someone physically and see if they look unhealthy or toxic. I just want to help them. I can also look at people who take care of themselves; they have a glow and energy about them. I love recommending a plant-based lifestyle to my clients and watch them transform from lifeless to energetic.

 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a fitness model, fitness trainer, media personality, nutritional expert, fitness champion, fitness writer & author, motivational speaker and brand ambassador?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

I love adventure and challenges! I like to wear many hats in the health and fitness world. If I had to do the same thing over and over, I would be bored. I crave a challenge in life. I love being out of comfort zone now. It helps me grow as a person and be the best me I could be. After I accomplish a goal, I set new ones and work on those. Growing as a person has helped me diversify my fitness career in different areas.

I feel like I just got started, my work in the fitness world is not done yet. So many things motivate me in life. It really depends on the moment. It can be a book. A client of mine. My husband. A leadership retreat. I constantly find ways to stay motivated in life. Through my ways of motivation, I always find inspiration. I thrive off of personal development. I work on myself every day. My biggest project is myself. I always want to be a better version of myself each day.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

I credit a lot of my beauty must haves to my plant-based holistic lifestyle.

1. My first beauty weapon is an organic plant-based diet. I like to eat fresh salads, green juices, fruit smoothies, and fresh fruit and veggies. You get so many vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and it hydrates the cells. I try to eat about 70-80% of my diet raw too.

2. Water! I try to drink about a gallon of water a day.

3. Coconut oil! I use it for everything. I have bottles in my kitchen and in my bathroom. I eat it, cook with it, I wear it as lotion, or hair mask, and oil pull. There are so many great benefits from coconut oil. I swear by it.

4. I see a facialist once a month. I believe in taking care of my skin professionally too. I get fruit acid peels and microdermabrasions to keep my skin looking fresh. The older we get, our cellular turnover is not as fast as when we were younger. So, visiting a facialist, helps my skin glow.

5. I like to wear light mineral-based make up. I look for vegan, cruelty-free make up or beauty products that don’t have a ton of toxic chemicals. If it goes on my skin everyday (which is the largest organ of the body) I make sure it is good for my body. I don’t want to clog my body full of toxins everyday via make up and beauty products. My top favorite brands are Jane Iredale, 100 Percent Pure, and Pacifica Make up.

Tell us more about your health journey, as you took the organic holistic path and your belief in “plant-based diet”?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

Years of competing and eating a diet heavy in animal based products and taking toxic supplements with a ton of chemicals, my body was not responding to it like it used to. I will never forget that time of my life. I thought I had it figured out and now I was back to square one. I went from being skinny my whole life, to my best physique ever, to gaining 25 lbs.

I had no idea what journey I was about to embark after gaining 25 lbs. I got really sick and now I was unhealthy again. But instead of being skinny this time, I was overweight for my body type. My nutrition again, failed me in a different way.

I had no idea veganism existed back in the day. I knew more about vegetarian diets, than the word vegan itself. I had major health issues to my body due to the 5 years of the strict animal based competition dieting. It was so hard on my body, it ruined my metabolism. I had kidney stones, weight gain which was a new thing for me, broke out in cystic acne, adrenal fatigue, and more. My health was going downhill fast. What I used to think was healthy to eat, was actually not for me in the long run.

It was ruining my health every time I ate. Finally, a registered dietitian recommended I do a vegan diet to cleanse my body. I was hesitant at first, but tried it out of desperation. I started feeling amazing within 30 days and lost 10 lbs. Then it motivated me to keep going. I started reading about vegan bodybuilding and reached out to Robert Cheeke and he was so kind and helped me with my diet so I was getting my best nutrition while training with weights.

It was a whole learning process. Now after 5 ½ years, I see that there is a plant-based certification. I want to take that to add to my resume along with my own personal experience to inspire people to eat healthier plant-based life. I recommend it to all my clients now.

 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Elaborate on your endeavor of successfully running the website http://thehealthinista.com and what all does it offer to it’s viewers?

 

Ms. Marzia Prince:

Much like a fashionista styles you with clothes, I am the healthinista, I style your body with fitness and food. I believe what you eat, is what you wear. Look at your plate as your outfit, you will be wearing that later after you eat it. I work with women, so putting fitness and food in fashion terms helps women see a new perspective of how food goes in their body. It is all about education.

If you don’t know, you don’t know. When you do know, you do better. Also, my blog features all things organic, plant-based, vegan, non-gmo, and cruelty-free. Most people want to get educated about what they are eating, but have a blind eye to what they are wearing and what they are doing to the animals and the environment. I feature my FAB 5: fitness, food, fashion, fun, and freedom to show them there are different alternatives to their favorite things. After living a plant-based life, you start seeing life in a new perspective.

 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding fitness conscious girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of fitness training?

Ms. Marzia Prince:

Work hard and don’t give up no matter what outside forces tell you. Listen to the voice in your heart. If you really want it, you have to work for it. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Whether it is building a successful fitness business, becoming a fitness model, or just being healthy, you have to put the work in it. Your passion and determination will get you there.
