IFBB Pro Nathalie Schmidt Shares Her Success Story

Women Fitness President Namita Nayyar talks to IFBB Pro Nathalie Schmidt about her incredible journey below.

Namita Nayyar:

You must have been interested in fitness and sports from an early age. Later you were encouraged & motivated to compete in fitness and bodybuilding competitions.You reached the pinnacle of success by achiving on becoming the IFBB Pro Women’s Physique competitor. Tell us about your journey that took you to the the world of fitness and as a participant in Professional Bodybuilder competitions?

Nathalie Schmidt:

At the age of 14, I began to do aerobics inspired by my 80ies role models Jane Fonda and Sidney Rome. In the 80ies I did their workouts hearing from the vinyl. In my parents house we also had a multi complete weight station, which I worked out after that. Especially my mother always was very sporty, she was a ballet dancer and also lifted weights until today.

I was fascinated by women like Rachel McLish and Cory Everson. I studied them in magazines and decided to have such a body one day! I think I always was some kind of a special girl, who always wanted to be different in mind and also in for example clothing. So, to achieve another kind of body was my goal ☺ From those days on I lift weights with big enthusiasm and willpower. I wanted such a muscular body and be on stage one day. My 1st competition was 2002, yes years after I began to workout, but I had to educate myself before. I studied teacher for primary school and opened a gym with my ex husband. After becoming german champion with my 1st competition I decided to compete international 2004 at the European championship. I reached the finals and 2005 I won the silver medal at the world championship.

I also did the Arnold Classic 2011 and won the bronce medal. After that the german federation proposed me for the pro card and I got it. 2012 I did my pro debut at the New York Pro. From 2012 on my life changed then….I fell in love with another man and we started to live our sport. We did lots of championships in the States and had the opportunity to see the whole world and met so many interesting and inspiring people.

Namita Nayyar:

What is your motivation to take a multi-faceted personality of a fitness model, LOOX expert and author, Olimp Sport Nutrition Athlete, Ninja Warrior, Personal trainer, Presentation coach and participant in Olympia Arnold Classic, professional bodybuilder competitor and IFBB-Pro athlete?

Nathalie Schmidt:

My motivation is that I love what I do. I love bodybuilding lifestyle and it is a great gift that my husband is a competitor too, so we understand each other and what is most important, we share our love for bodybuilding, the travels, the unforgettable moments and a sporty and healthy lifestyle. I also like to share my experiences and knowledge for the young athletes, who started to walk this way too. I want to teach and accompany them. Also I love to shoot, because for me it’s kind of preserving the body I worked so hard for. Maybe I can show these pictures one day to my homies in old homes 😉 I worked already with the biggest names in the fitness industry, it’s such a big honor!

Namita Nayyar:

Share your exercise routine that you do to maintain such a perfect physique?

Nathalie Schmidt:

My exercise routine is quite intensive. I work out every day! In the morning I do my cardio with the HITT system about 30 minutes. In the afternoon I lift weights and do some crossfit exercises. I try to keep my body in shape the whole year, to be always ready for shoots. Also I like routine in my life. I always need a good structured day to feel good. I train legs 2 times a week, because I think that’s the most striking body part for most women, also for me!

Namita Nayyar:

What is your diet? Do you take a particular fixed regulated diet comprising of nutrients and vitamins to keep you in perfect health?

Nathalie Schmidt:

Most time of the year I keep my diet, what means that I eat low carb! I just eat some oats in the morning and further on only protein like meat, fish and eggs. But I eat veggies and fruits, because I think it’s good for my hair, skin and health. I also take Vita-Min-Multiple, Chela-Mag B6 Forte shots, Q10, ZMA,BCAA and green tea extract from Olimp Sport Nutrition.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Nathalie Schmidt:

I care and do a lot for my skin and hair. I am a woman with muscles, but I like to stay very feminine and especially stylish! I clean my skin every morning and evening and do special facials every month. My skin is very dry, so I use cleaning stuff and crème with moisturiser. I wash my hair every 2nd day and use special shampoos and conditioner for dry and coloured hair. I like to change my hair colour from time to time to change my look frequently ☺ Also I love to use extensions sometimes.

Namita Nayyar:

Fitness modelling is about bold photo shoots. You have done photo shoots and showed your spectacular chiseled physique. What advice you wish to give to the women of today to be body confident in order to do such bold modeling?

Nathalie Schmidt:

My advice for young girls who start to shoot, don’t be shy, love yourself and especially your hard created body. The rest will flow!
