Croatian woman has hazardous French breast implants removed

– Reported, January 16, 2012

A woman in Zagreb is having hazardous silicone breast implants – produced in France – removed, after having had them for nine years.
This is the first registered case of a person having French Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) implants in Croatia. The French Ministry of Health considers the implants life threatening.
The implants are filled with cheap, industrial silicone instead of a medically approved substance, endangering the lives and health of some 30,000 women in France and Britain. They are also used in Argentina and 65 other countries in the world.
The Croatian patient had the aesthetic surgery carried out in Belgium nine years ago, but has now decided to have the implants removed because they no longer had the effect she desired.
Although doctors are obliged to inform patients about the type of silicone they are getting, the Croatian woman said she was not given this information tabloid 24 Sata writes.
The doctor that removed the implants said the woman was fortunate to have taken them out as they could have been dangerous for her health.
