Egyptian Society of Women Imaging & Health Care: Doing a yeoman service to Egypt

They are a non-profitable NGO formed of Radiologists, Obstetricians and Surgeons interested in women’s health. The organization was formed in 2005. Since then, they have held several workshops on women’s health, mainly breast & fetal imaging. The last scientific event was attended by 600 delegates from various countries including USA, France, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Qatar and Syria.

Their Society is also committed to increasing women’s health awareness by organizing various public seminars. In October of 2007, on the occasion of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they provided free mammograms to the public at Cairo Scan. They were able to screen 575 women, and detected 25 early stage cancers, thus offering better chances for a full recovery.

Their Mission

To train radiologists, radiographers, obstetricians, gynaecologists, physicians by organizing various workshops, training sessions, conferences, to enhance the basic imaging standards, and to perform continuous education in various fields related to women’s health.

To improve early detection of cancer , by enforcing regular screening imaging studies, e.g mammography for women above 40.

To expand women’s health awareness, and the importance of screening to the public by organizing educational sessions & social events.

To define and spread information and awareness regarding the role of different imaging modalities e.g. mammography, ultrasonography, nuclear medicine, MRI, DXA, in diagnosing different diseases which affect women.

To issue a scientific journal, publishing various researches in the field of women’s imaging & health care.
