Fish Lowers Breast Cancer Risk

– Reported, July 02, 2013

(Ivanhoe Newswire) — Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers. Studies suggest that a healthy diet and lifestyle is crucial for the prevention of breast cancer, and dietary fat is one of the most intensively studied dietary factors closely related with risk.

A team of researchers, based in China reviewed and analyzed the results of 26 studies from the United States, Europe and Asia involving over 800,000 participants and over 20,000 cases of breast cancer. Their research revealed that eating one to two portions a week of foods rich in n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (n-3 PUFA), such as, salmon, tuna, or sardines could reduce the risk of breast cancer by 14 percent.
