She was named one of 12 rookies in Sports Illustrated′s annual swimsuit issue in 2014. She has also made several appearances on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Hadid was born on April 23, 1995 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Palestinian real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and Dutch former model Yolanda Foster (née van den Herik). Gigi has two younger siblings: a sister, Bella, who is also a model, and a brother, Anwar. She has two older half-sisters on her dad’s side and five step-sisters. After her parents’ divorce, her mother married music producer David Foster, making him her stepfather. She graduated from Malibu High School at the age of 18 in 2013 and was also the captain of her varsity volleyball team and a competitive horseback rider.
After graduating from high school, she moved to New York City to focus on her studies and modeling career. She has studied at The New School from fall 2013. Hadid signed with IMG Models in 2011. Her modeling career started when she was just 2 years old after she was discovered by Paul Marciano, of Guess. She started modeling with Baby Guess.
Then, she stopped so she could concentrate in school. She eventually got back to modeling, continued working with them, and was named the face of the Guess campaign in 2012. According to her recent interview, she has done 3 campaigns with Guess as an adult.
In February 2014, she made her New York Fashion Week debut by walking the catwalk at Desigual’s show. She also made her debut in Jeremy Scott’s show. She has appeared in music videos, playing Australian singer Cody Simpson’s love interest in the video for his song “Surfboard” which was released on April 14, 2014. She has also appeared on another music video, playing the love interest of American grammy-winner singer Miguel’s song “Simplethings” which released on May 29, 2014. On July 15, 2014, she starred alongside actor and model, Patrick Schwarzenegger in fashion designer Tom Ford’s new Eyewear autumn/winter campaign. She co-hosted the Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media awards that was held in New York City on September 5, 2014.
