Green tea flavoured Coca-Cola to launch in Japan

Green tea flavoured Coca-Cola to launch in Japan

Reported June 05, 2009

Japanese Coca-Cola drinkers will soon have the opportunity to buy their favourite soft drink in an unusual new flavour.

Coca-Cola Japan has announced that it will be launching a new green tea flavoured variant of the drink for the Japanese market on June 8th, reports the Associated Press.

Rival manufacturer Pepsi has already responded with its own plans to release a basil-flavoured version of its soft drink called Pepsi Shiso.

Coca-Cola claims that the new version of the drink contains antioxidants called catechins which are common in tea, making the new Coke a good choice for health-conscious younger women.

Katsuya Sato, a spokesman for Coca Cola Japan, said: “We wanted to cater to people who are looking for something that tastes good but is also good for health and beauty.”

Coca-Cola remains the world’s biggest selling soft drink, with its parent company producing more than 3,000 different drinks products across more than 200 countries.
