Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar did a candid interview with Noemi Batki, an exceptionally talented gold medalist European Championship Diver where she talks about her workout, diet, hair & skincare, and her success story.

Namita Nayyar:

You are 3XOlympic diver and 9XEuropean medallist. Walk us through your spectacular journey and tell us how it all began?

Noemi Batki:

It’s all my mum’s “fault”, she was a diver as well and she transmitted to me her passion. I watched her dive in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and then day after day I followed her to the pool when she began a coach and I fell in love with this sport more and more.

Namita Nayyar:

You were all set to hit the Tokyo Olympics this year, but since the year has been shifted, how do you plan to go by it now?

Noemi Batki:

Of course that I’m going. I look forward to it, I’m super excited! I already have my pass, I qualified during the past world championships, so I can focus on the preparation from now on. I’d like also to qualify myself in the synchro event with my partner Chiara Pellacani, so this extra year feels good to me.

Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your life. Do share your home-work & challenges before setting out for a dive?

Noemi Batki:

I wake up at7 and I have breakfast. I train from 8:30 to 11:30 and I have lunch at 12:30. Then I take a nap until my second training, from 15:30 to 18. Then I go back to my room to study or to read a book. I have dinner around 20 and then I love to watch TV series. I fell asleep around 23. I like this routine even if it’s very exhausting, that’s why I love weekends when I can wake up without alarm, and take some time off to do what I want without planning anything.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may like to share with our viewers?

Noemi Batki:

I like cardio workouts where I can burn a lot of calories and work on my limits, keep pushing to intensity when I almost feel I need to stop and go a little bit longer. During my regular training I like to apply this on a summersault routine on the mat, keep going until my legs can’t be trusted anymore, and become shaky

Namita Nayyar:

Share the diet that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit? 5 foods you absolutely love.

Noemi Batki:

Usually I have breakfast with a banana and 4 egg whites, then after my first session if I finish early I eat 20 almonds. Then I go to lunch where I eat 200g fish or meat and vegetables, combined with 2 fruits to give me energy. After my second training in the afternoon I can have 2 fruits again and for dinner 250g of fish/meat and free vegetables!

I try to drink a lot of water during the day! And of course once a week I can eat pizza or pasta! My favorite meal is pizza, but also roman pasta feels amazing. Otherwise I love gelato or any kind of cheese! Obviously all forbidden foods during the week, that’s why I enjoy them even more in the weekend when I’m allowed to cheat on my diet, and have a free meal.

Namita Nayyar:

Having to train constantly in extreme climate conditions, how do you take care of your skin and hair?

Noemi Batki:

I love to train in the water, I love the feeling of going underwater, feel the silence and the warmth of the water on my skin. Of course my hair needs extra attention; in fact I wash it with extra sensitive shampoo once a day and I use a soft conditioner after every training. I put on protective oil every time I feel my hair dry.

The same happens with my skin, I use body cream but just when I feel my skin needs it, I think it’s very important to listen to our body, because it has a special power to adapt to every condition we put it through. And we can take proper care of our body if we listen to his needs.

Namita Nayyar:

Who has been your greatest influence and motivator in your success in the field of your career?

Noemi Batki:

My mum had the most influence on me during all these years, mostly because the taught me how to be a better person. I learned that no matter what you do in life, the important thing is to be a good example for others, so I tried always to look into myself and I always knew that what I was doing was right, so I kept fighting, for me and for those who believed in me.

Namita Nayyar:

Share with us a HIIT home workout that works great for a diver’s body? Five stretches that must be done to avoid injury.

Noemi Batki:

We work on cardio circuits of 5 exercises each, 30″ work and 10″ rest. Usually this circuit consists of 2 leg, 1 arm, 1 abs and 1back exercises. Sometimes one of those can be switched with an arm stand exercise. We repeat for 5 times, every round changing the exercises. Stretching is very important, mostly on the thighs, psoas muscle, calf, and the shoulders. But we have to maintain flexibility in every muscle so it’s important to check every part of our body every day.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and upcoming athletes who all are your fans? Five tips to work upon their skills.

Noemi Batki:

My advice to the future generations is to keep fighting for their dreams. It’s easy to dream for something but is challenging to effectively reach it. The fun is in the journey, in the person you become thanks to your choice. To improve your skills write down on a diary the goals you have and the time that you set for yourself to reach for that goal.

Then write down the exact types of exercises that you’ll need to get closer to your goal. Better more than less. Then keep track of the progresses you make every day, because if you keep trying the progresses will come.

Then you celebrate every time you make a significant step forward, it’s important to be proud of ourselves when we work hard. Finally keep practicing the achieved abilities; because every skill needs to be maintained, otherwise we lose what we worked so hard for.

Namita Nayyar:

Training tips for strong arms & should avoid wear & tear?

Noemi Batki:

I train every day with elastic bands, it’s very important to include in our daily routine these exercises to prevent from injury. After I warmed up with the bands with movements in every direction, I work with some light weights or in handstand. The variations on an upper body workout are endless and I like to practice my handstands every day, so I use my fantasy to create variations.

Namita Nayyar:

Share Five key factors to follow while preparing for championships?

Noemi Batki:

I think the most important thing is consistency in every factor. In a healthy diet, so food is the first factor, then proper exercise, based on a proper programmed schedule, then a steady mind set, that allows the athlete to focus when he has to train but to be able to relax when the training is over. The relationships with his family and friends are important and last but not least sleeping at least 8 hours at night is very important, it allows the athlete to maintain a successful routine.

Namita Nayyar:

Share a few words about the website Womenfitness.net and message for our visitors?

Noemi Batki:

I like the website, it’s very fascinating and offers a variety of suggestions and topics.  My message is to keep doing exercises and try to live as healthy as you can. The work on ourselves is as important as taking care for others because if we feel good we’re more inclined to help other people.
