Patricia de Leon: Exceptionally Talented & Accomplished Panamanian Actress Reveals Her Success Mantra

 

Patricia de Leon is a Panamanian actress who works between English and Latin entertainment markets. She recently completed filming Director Luke Goss’s, “Your Move”, also starring Robert Davi, Luis Gatica, and Alain Mora. She has two other lead feature film roles recently completed including “Confessions of a Womanizer” (C. Thomas Howell and Gary Busey and “Light From The Darkroom” (opposite Russell Wong). Patricia is launching a signature line of lip products for Latinas this year, Aniise By Patricia de Leon.

Patricia has worked on films alongside a number of highly regarded names that include “Fighting For Freedom” (Bruce Dern, Kristanna Loken, Jose Maria Yazpik), “Badass” (Ving Rhames, Danny Trejo, and Ron Pearlman), “The Pool Boys” (Matthew Lillard and Efren Ramirez, Tom Arnold), “How The Carcia Girls Spent The Summer” (America Ferrera, Elizabeth Peña), SPLINTER (Edward James Olmos, Maria Conchita Alsonso), “Cloud Nine” (Burt Reynolds, DL Hughley, Paul Rodriguez), “All In” (Dominque Swain, Michael Madsen), and “Blue Lake Massacre” (Burt Young).

Her work on television includes a series regular on STARZ “Magic City” as ‘Pasterita Nunez’, and a series regular role opposite Eric Roberts in the ABC network pilot, “Grace.” She was a fan favorite in TNT’s “Men Of A Certain Age”, being the fantasy woman for Ray Romano’s character. Patricia even had a guest role on the FOX series “Ride Along.” Previously, Patricia spent 4 years as ‘Sofia Munoz’ on the ABC Family series “Lincoln Heights.” Some of her well-known telenovela works includes Univision series “Corazon Apasionado” as ‘Carmen Rosa, starring as ‘Jennifer Lopez’ on Telemundo’s “Perro Amor”, and on “La Ruta Blanca.” Some of Patricia’s other TV credits include CBS’ “Cold Case” and NBC’s “Crossing Jordan.”

Outside of her entertainment career, Patricia is an animal rights activist who became the face of a worldwide Anti-Bull Fighting campaign for PETA as well as a spokesperson for PETA Latina. Patricia’s first big break was being crowned Miss Panama. She then established herself across Latin America as a reporter for Univision. She spent four seasons as ‘Sofia Munoz’ on the ABC Family series ” Lincoln Heights”. Patricia was also the co-host of Telemundo’s “Corte Del Pueblo”. More recently she was the host of “Billboard Latino”, a music countdown show. Her other TV credits include CBS’s “Cold Case” and NBC’s “Crossing Jordan”.

Patricia de Leon is an exceptionally talented and accomplished Panamian film actress, television star and theatre artist. She is in conversation with Namita Nayyar, President Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Your career started with winning and being crowned as Miss Panama.You later spent four seasons as ‘Sofia Munoz’ on the ABC Family series “Lincoln Heights”. You reached the pinnacle of success when you were in the lead role in “How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer “, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and later acted as lead actress in many more films. Tell us about your journey that took you to where you are now in the world of acting?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: Oh wow…well coming to LA wasn’t planned , it pretty much just came to me as an opportunity to come to audition for a film, project that changed my life, cause I never went back home as I made the decision to pursue acting, nothing that had to with a law career which is what I went to school for.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have selected a profession of being an actress in films that requires a lot of hard labor, technical soundness and excellence in different faculties to finally succeed, how do you achieve that?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: Like you said hard work, a lot of preparation, focus and patience.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Your are a leading film actress, television star, theater artist, TV talk show star, model and host reporter. How you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: I Think that each one has taked me to the next One.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you shall like to share?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: I am not going to lie, because I am not a Freak when it comes to work out but I must go to my zumba classes almost everyday, I also use my power plate at home and go hiking, it’s important for my mind and my body.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: I am a full on vegetarian. Nothing fried, try to stay away from carbs as much as I can and I’m not really into sweets.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: I am not a big spender when it comes to beauty products, I tried to use natural products, it is imperative that I keep my face clean after make up, never work out or sleep with make up, that’s a no no for me, moisturize every morning and at night, at least twice a month a good natural mask, I found this amazing mask all natural, made from Aniise.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words for the inspiring and budding actresses who all are your fans, what should they do for their climb to the ladder of success in field of acting?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: Never never never give up, be true to yourself, focus and prepare and the most important be patience, cause it’s a long road filled with some disappointments, frustrations, and I believe it’s really how you bounce back on those days. Perseverance…cause you can accomplish ANYTHING it just depends how hard are you willing to work for it.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You recently completed filming Director Luke Goss’s “Your Move”, also starring Robert Davi, Luis Gatica, and Alain Mora. Tell us about the experience of working in this film?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: OMG I am so happy to be part of this project, first because it’s Luke’s debute as a director and I think he is a fantastic director, so detailed, he is definitely an actors director, working with an amazing cast, hard working crew, what a delight shooting in Mexico and when I first read the script I was driven by the story, because It happens so much in Latin America, specially in Mexico, kidnapping is a serious problem there and in many other countries, the adrenaline that you feel on this film, you don’t even want to blink. Very happy!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Who has been your inspiration and motivation that led you to your success in the world of acting?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: My motivation I think it’s my people back home in Panama, I want them to be proud of me.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You shall be launching a signature line of lip products for Latinas this year “Aniise By Patricia de Leon”.Tell us about this endeavor of yours?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: We created this lipstick and lip stain product wanting to give women color, that feeling of empowerment, make feel sexy, and that using color for a women is ok, that it’s ok to be a little risky. They are 13 pro matte, mineral, made in the US, cruelty free, full pigmented lipsticks and 8 lip stains, and I really hope the ladies like the collection. Aniise.com

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You launched an Anti-Bull Fighting campaign across the Globe for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). You have been associated PETA for social cause, that are all dear to your heart, tell us how you have been able to achieve and quench your thirst of giving back to the society through this endeavor of your?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: The fact that I’m able to speak up for the ones that can’t speak, that it’s part of our mission here, I just don’t understand how people could mistreat or kill and indefense criature, for entertainment, for fashion, for tradition, for sport???? What gives us the right???

It feels good when people writes me or tells me you help me change my life, because of you I’m a vegetarian, and I’m happy.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?

Ms. Patricia de Leon: I think we need to take care of ourselves, watch what we eat, eat well, try to use more natural products, check ourselves with the doctor. Sometimes we do so much and we forget the most important thing is to take care of our health and body, without that there is nothing. So Ladies is time to take care of YOU!
