Supermodel Bonnie Janina Shares her Tips for an Important Photo shoot

Supermodel Bonnie Janina is the perfect combination of beauty with brains. The stunning Miami beauty loves to hit the beach and go for an intense workout! She shares 5 Tips before an important Photo shoot.

1) Sleep:

Bonnie says “I need to get at least 7 hours.” before an exhaustive photo shoot. Why? Well the answer is, feeling well-rested is important for maintaining your energy level throughout the day. When you get enough sleep at night, you can reduce the risk of waking up with dark circles under your eyes—letting you look your absolute best for your professional headshots. It is also easier to focus on posing and creating beautiful pictures when you aren’t thinking about how tired you are and how much you wish you could go back to bed. Both you and your professional photographer will feel more positive and alert throughout the shoot if you are well-rested and ready to go when you arrive at the studio. Tip: If you have trouble falling asleep the night before your shoot, take a warm bath or read a book to relax.

2) Water:

“Hydrate, drink a lot of water so your skin is plump!” says supermodel Bonnie. On average, a healthy kidney can eliminate about 5.3-7.4 gallons (20-28 liters) of water/day; 27-33 oz (0.8-1.0 liters or 3-4 cups) per hour. With that in mind, never drink more than 27-33 ounces (0.8-1.0 liters) of water per hour. Avoid salty foods, which cause water retention. Similarly, avoid greasy, fattening and spicy foods, as these cause bloating and stomach upset.

3) Skin Preparation!

“Before bed I do a hydrating face mask and use a few serums to make sure I’m looking fresh.” shares the supermodel. The rule however applies to all, pamper yourself the night before your photo shoot. If your nails look a little rough, get a manicure or file them. Natural nails or a French manicure looks the best in pictures. Avoid bright red nails or dark nail polish colors. Make your skin glow by applying a deep moisturizing cream or oil to your feet and hands. Cover your feet with socks and keep the moisturizers on overnight for deep moisturizing. Keep lips moisturized by using a soft toothbrush and oil to exfoliate dead skin; apply a moisturizing lip balm after exfoliating to keep lips moist. If needed, tweeze eyebrows or remove unwanted facial hair.

4) Work out if Possible before a Photo shoot:

Bonnie shares, sometimes call time is too early so I won’t be able to workout. If that’s the case I like to try to do light yoga before or at least 10-15 min of meditation. 15 minutes before your photo shoot, you might want to get a good pump to look bigger, stronger, and more vascular (even though you will feel weaker). I recommend few push-ups, some lateral raises, biceps curls, and posing.

5) Smile:

According to Janina “No one likes a grumpy model! Be sweet and kind and know that you are working as a team!” If you’re feeling nervous, take a few seconds to relax. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and then open your eyes. You’ll feel calmer and smile more naturally. Focus on your face and jaw muscles, and take a second or two to consciously relax them. The natural smile will come on its own. Pay extra attention to the way your eyes smile with your lips when taking a photo — this can make all the difference.

With everything said, just remember to relax and have fun during your photo shoot — doing so will create natural and beautiful photos that will last a lifetime.
