MAXIM’s hottest overnight sensation and GUESS’ favorite sultry model Shannon Dalonzo is poised and quickly becoming the new it girl to look out for. Known for her work on various modeling campaigns, dancing, as well as her fitness, sports and philanthropic work, Shannon is truly a one-of-a-kind success story. With over 110,000K Instagram followers, Shannon is a fierce advocate for body positivity, self-love, as well as health and wellness.

To explore Shannon’s story from the stunner herself, Women Fitness President Namita Nayyar, joined her in a fun and fit conversation.

Namita Nayyar:

Having started early in life at the young age of 16, what drew you towards modelling?

Shannon Dalonzo:

I grew up acting and dancing so performing and being in front of a camera always felt natural. I was scouted a couple times when I was in high school, and it all started there.

Namita Nayyar:

You got a big break while being casted as a model for an international GUESS campaign. How did that happen? Your first reaction on hearing the news?

Shannon Dalonzo:

I was shooting with one of my friends who shoots for Guess, and he passed along my portfolio. I ended up doing a test shoot with another photographer that shoots for Guess and I guess it went pretty well, seeing as I booked it! Guess had always been a dream client of mine, so I was thrilled. They are such a sexy and empowering brand for women with my body type, so I was honored.

Namita Nayyar:

Being an Instagram model, share 5 things that you absolutely love about this platform?

Shannon Dalonzo:

I love being able to engage with my followers, I love following other friends and people I admire. This platform has also helped me come out of my shell and give me a voice. It also is a great way to connect with other people, and a great way to get work.

Namita Nayyar:

You have an incredibly well-sculpted body. Share with us some tips for getting the perfect bikini body like yours.

Shannon Dalonzo:

Consistency with working out, eating well, and indulging every so often so you don’t feel like you are deprived. It’s all about balance.

Namita Nayyar:

Having studied ballet for 10+ years, how has it helped in improving your body and physique? What kind of modelling is your favorite?

Shannon Dalonzo:

It has definitely helped with posture, flexibility and poise which I utilize in shoots. I love runway! It’s not what I do most but I love it. Also shooting anything fitness, bikini and lingerie.

Share your diet secrets to a fit body?

Shannon Dalonzo:

I’m pescatarian, so usually dinner will be a fish dish. I love salads! I always have a protein shake after my workouts. I use Luxe Vegan protein. I’m a big night time snacker, so that will usually be fruit or popcorn. I’m not much of a sweet tooth, but I love anything salty like fries!

5 workouts that are your absolute favorite and why?

Shannon Dalonzo:

I love soul cycle for cardio because its low impact on my knees, its intense and only 45 minutes! I don’t love working on abs… but I love leg days! My trainer really mixes it up which I like.

Namita Nayyar:

5 makeup products that we’ll always find in your handbag.

Shannon Dalonzo:

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, Lip balm, bronzer, concealer, eye brow pencil.

Namita Nayyar:

What is your skincare and hair care routine like:

When you wake up?

Shannon Dalonzo:

Wash my face with Cetaphil, and spray rose water. I try to stay without makeup as long as possible. Hair, I really don’t have one.

Namita Nayyar:

Before going to bed?

Shannon Dalonzo:

Remove my makeup, so wash my face with Cetaphil, then I use these makeup removing wipes from Trader Joe’s to make sure it gets any residue off, they have tea tree oil in the which I think helps my skin, some nights ill use a serum. I Like Mario Badescu’s Anti Acne Serum, and for hydration I’ll put vitamin E oil and sleep with that.

Namita Nayyar:

You have also created a charity, “Give Back Gift Bag Party,” to provide food items, toiletries, hygienic products, and more to the homeless. How do you aim to help these people in improving their lifestyle?

Shannon Dalonzo:

We hope that any times given in these bags will help improve in any way. Whether that’s to feed them, keep them warm, anything at all.

Namita Nayyar:

Best and odd memory from a modelling audition

Shannon Dalonzo:

I had a casting for LA Swim Week and I was told right there that I had booked it, which is always nice. I also made a great friend at the casting and we are still friends today. Most of my castings have been pleasant. Other than not getting the job they’ve been pretty standard, just some have had an extreme amount of girls so I’ve spent a lot of time waiting around.

Namita Nayyar:

What would be your advice to the upcoming models who face cases like #MeToo? What is the best way to deal with such things in the industry?

Shannon Dalonzo:

Don’t be afraid to say something. Not only for yourself but so it doesn’t happen to someone else. Know your boundaries, they are pretty obvious in terms of #Metoo, but know boundaries on where you will take meetings, what you will shoot, and don’t be afraid to say no.
