Ms. Namita Nayyar: Your love with rock climbing began at a young age of four years and you started competing at the age of 7. Later your professional career propelled to the height where you have been at the top of the world of professional rock climbing by women, winning recently 2014 Bouldering World Cup at Innsbruck, Austria also at Grindlewald, Switzerland. Tell us something about this journey of success?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: I guess my journey started the day I first went climbing. I fell in love with the sport straight away. I always dream of becoming a professional climber and winning world cups and I almost still can’t believe where I am now. It’s been a hard, intense and emotional journey but I couldn’t be happier. I am so lucky that I get to have my passion as my job.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: I work closely with my coach Mark. Since working with Mark I have trained harder than ever before. I’ve spent a lot of time working on my upper body strength, core strength and hanging of a Beastmaker to improve my finger strength. I also run a little bit to keep up my fitness. All of this is on top of climbing. I try to see climbing as fun and separate from training. I love climbing and still get so much enjoyment out of it. I think that ensuring I climb a lot as well as training really helps me to stay motivated.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: I definitely think about what I eat but I don’t actually follow a specific diet. I have tried a few different diets in the past but I don’t enjoying being strict with food. I think that I’m lucky because I really enjoy good food, I like to feel healthy and I love cooking. However, I also enjoy dessert and I love baking too. I am conscious about getting a balanced diet and having a good relationship with food. I don have to ensure that I have enough protein when I am training a lot and I’ll have smaller pieces of cake if I want to lean up for a competition.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hairs to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: Thanks! I don’t do anything at all. I just get a healthy, balanced diet and exercise a lot.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding professional rock climbing girls who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to ladder of success in field of professional rock climbing?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: Have fun, work hard and embrace the experience. Never forget what you are working towards, that’s what will motivate you through the training and hard
times!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have won many rock climbing competitions. Tell us how did you feel before and after you won recently the 2014 Bouldering World Cup at Innsbruck, Austria?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: Innsbruck always put on an incredible event. The atmosphere at the World Cup there is incomparable to any other event in the season. This year I felt nervous but also excited. I am still overwhelmed about the whole experience. Anna Stöhr soaking me with champagne on the podium was definitely a highly of my career.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have selected a sport which requires winning over your fear, concentration, to foresee the coming hurdles and possess an exceptionally toned body to finally succeed, how do you achieve that?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: I have never really done anything special. I just climbed a lot. The more you do it the better you get.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have been associated with and you are a Trustee for the Award Winning Charity Climbers Against Cancer which is dear to your heart, tell us how you have been able to achieve and quench your thirst of giving back to the society through this endeavour of your?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: The head of the charity is a really good friend of mine, John Ellison. I was honoured when he asked me to be part of the charity and I love being involved. I feel like it is important for me to do something other than just climbing and give something back. Thats why I am involved with CAC. I also run an international event called the Women’s Climbing Symposium that aims to connect, inspire and develop women’s climbing.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Tell us your experience on being the first British female to climb V12, V13 & V14?

Ms. Shauna Coxsey: I love climbing outdoors. I feel like it is a way to have fun and escape from many of the pressures that come with competition climbing and the structure that comes with training. I love pushing myself and testing my limits. Grades have never been my focus, I just want to see where my limits are.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for its visitors?
