Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with Silvia Marsó, an exceptionally talented Spanish Film Actress, also Catalan theater, film, television and theater producer here she talks about her workout, diet and beauty secrets.

Namita Nayyar:

Where were you born and where you had your early education? You are multilingual and speak English, Spanish, Italian, and Catalan. You started your career in movies as an actress in 1983 with Final Getway and The Curanderos. This propelled your acting career to the height where you have been at the top of the world as an actress in films, Television Theater, and modeling. Tell us more about this journey of hard work, tenacity, and endurance?

Silvia Marsó:

I was born in Barcelona, where I studied acting at the Theater Institute. I am of those persons that think that an actor has to prepare a lot. Learning to sing, to dance, to handle the different theatrical and cinematographic styles. Actors should have a lot of patience and humility as well.

Namita Nayyar:

You have acted in television shows and series, “Merli Sapere Aude, The Secret of Puenteviejo, Tell me, Velvet and many others “. Tell us more about working in these television shows and which one is dearer to your heart. Tell us any experience during the filming of the show that you wish to share?

Silvia Marsó:

I have been working since I was very young and it is true that I have done many series, movies and plays. And they are all important to me. I would not like to highlight any of them, because all of them have contributed knowledge and experience to me. One of my lastest jobs was before the pandemic.

It was “The Old Bridge Secret” on Antena 3 (one of the main SpanishTV channels). The day that the president of the government of Spain was announcing a pandemic and the confinement in the homes of all citizens, we were shooting the series, and we had to stop filming and go home. At the beginning it was going to be 15 days, but it was more than three months and that is why we could not return to the set.

Namita Nayyar:

You have been trained professionally with Film internships- Professor Daniela Féjerman, Interpretation- Professor Bob McAndrew, Interpretation- Teacher Juan Carlos Corazza, Cinematographic Performance- Professor JL García Sánchez, The actor in front of the camera- Professor Paco Pino, 1994 Film Interpretation- Professor Mariano Barroso, Verse and metric- Professor Josefina García Araez, Theater dance and ballroom dancing- Professor Fina Tomas and many more. Tell us more about this training session and other professional training at different academies and how that sculpted your acting persona?

Silvia Marsó:

It is important that actors not only prepare when they are young and just starting out in the profession. When you get older, you have to adapt to new technologies, to new ways of directing shows and movies, and for this, it is important that you are always preparing yourself. You also have to know how to distinguish what it is to act for the theater, and for the cinema, they are two completely different techniques and you have to study them in different schools that are why I have such an extensive learning curriculum.

Namita Nayyar:

You speak English, Spanish, Italian, and Catalan. You are a leading media personality, television star, movie actress, theater artist, and model. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Silvia Marsó:

I am not a model. I am an actress, and we must know how to work in theater, cinema and television, we must also know how to act in musicals and in my case, one of the things I am most proud of is having produced shows. The business part is very interesting too. And it gives you a lot of experience. Now, I would like to help young actors, directors and screenwriters, who are just starting out, by giving them a chance in the theater.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Silvia Marsó:

What helped me the most in life is Pilates. This technique makes your whole body well aligned and all your muscles work without gaining weight. I also like Tai Chi for concentration, yoga for elasticity and relaxation, and now I am practicing an era, of muscular strength, with a personal trainer twice a week. Because aging, the muscles weaken. It is very important to take care of the body, because if not, when we are older, it gives us problems.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Silvia Marsó:

Food is also something that I take great care of. I try to eat proteins of vegetable origin, I am not totally vegan, but every time I consume fewer animals for ethical reasons.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.

Silvia Marsó:

I think my secret with my skin is never having smoked. Do not drink any alcohol. And never put makeup on. I only wear makeup to play characters in film, television and theater.
But during my personal life, my face is clean and always well hydrated. When I put on makeup to work, always before going to bed I clean myself with products that leave me a perfect skin. I have no more secrets. And I take care of my hair by putting Virgin olive oil once a month for 24 hours. It is a natural way to nourish it and give it elasticity.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding upcoming actresses, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of acting?

Silvia Marsó:

When I was very young I coincided on a shoot here in Spain with Ava Gardner, the series was called “Harem” it was shot in the desert of Córdoba in Andalusia and during a break from shooting she was smoking outside her caravan vehicle, and I asked her if she could give me some advice.

She told me: Girl be patient, because in this profession you never get there. If Mrs. Garner, with her category as an actress, said these words to me, as a beginning actress, I remembered them throughout my career. And they have served me as a great example of humility.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us more about your upcoming professional projects in acting?

Silvia Marsó:

I have just shot a film titled Berlanga, directed by Rafa Maluenda and it is in tribute to the great Spanish film director, whose centenary of his birth is celebrated in 2021. And my next projects are focused on the theater. Although I do not rule out the possibility of doing a series. My agent, Lucia Del Rio, is organizing my agenda. I still can’t give titles because they are unsigned.

Namita Nayyar:

What has been your catalyst in motivating your to perform and take your acting career to much greater heights?

Silvia Marsó:

The catalyst in my career has always been the desire to learn, enthusiasm, and enthusiasm. And I hope I never lose these three motivations.

Namita Nayyar:

How you are so body confident and advice to your compatriots?

Silvia Marsó:

The body is very important to maintain mental health. I, who have studied the human body to be able to interpret characters, I realize that the state of mind, sometimes, is perceived in the posture and in the body of the human being.

Namita Nayyar:

Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.

Silvia Marsó:

My five favorite foods are: fruit, vegetables, cheese, fish and foods that I never eat are: animals that have not yet developed and that are babies, eggs from industries that keep chickens in cages. Duck pate, for the mistreatment it entails. As you can see, I have ethical priorities rather than dietary ones.

Namita Nayyar:

Five skincare myths.

Silvia Marsó:

The skin of my body stays hydrated and flexible because for more than 30 years I have used a pharmacy cream called Isdin, which has 10% urea. I apply it every day after showering.

Namita Nayyar:

Five travel destinations on your wish list.

Silvia Marsó:

In this order: the Amazon rainforest of Brazil, Japan, India, Canada, and the United States from east to west.

Namita Nayyar:

You won and also nominated in 2021 for the Notoriety and Excellence Award in Performing Arts Gaudí Gresol Awards, in 2019 nominated for the Valle Inclan Award, in 2018 nominated as leading actress Musical Theater Awards, in 2017 you won Award for Trajectory Torralba de Calatrava Theater Fest, in 2016 you won Best Actress Award Rojas Theater, in 2012 you won Best Actress Award, Friends of the Theater Association, in 2010 you won Best Actress Award. Rojas Theater, in 2010 Best Actress Award Ercilla Award and many more. How this winning of many awards has acted as a catalyst in your meteoritic rise as an accomplished actress and providing personal satisfaction as a professional actress?

Silvia Marsó:

The awards are recognition of your career, which always bring great joy. But they are not the goal of our work. For me, and the most important thing, is to always learn. And get better.

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and the message for its visitors?

Silvia Marsó:

I really like the creation of a website that talks about care and sports for women. Because we do not have the same body as men. We have different metabolic processes, and our different stages (puberty, pregnancies, postpartum, menopause) have to be taken into account when training, and when eating.

Namita Nayyar:

Today social media plays a vital role in putting your message across to your followers and fans. What is your message for the 30k followers on Instagram?

Silvia Marsó:

I believe that my followers, what they see in my profile, is authenticity, because I do not show an unreal world. I try to talk to them about culture, health, beauty, and always with sincerity.
