The “Just My Thang” Singer Rosalee Shares Her Awe-Inspiring Singing Journey

Singer

Born and raised in St. George, UT, singer Rosalee dreamed of making her mark on the music industry. Finally, Rosalee got her chance at a break when music tycoon, David Foster, who has produced for legendary artists like Whitney Houston, Andrea Bocelli, Christina Aguilera, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, and Jennifer Lopez to name a few, held a contest to find the next big star to accompany him on stage.

Rosalee impressed him with her video submission, got on stage and her career took off! From then on she would sing the national anthem at every sporting event from the NFL, NHL, NBA and even HBO and Showtime boxing events.

For the last few years Rosalee has been the lead performer on shows all over the Las Vegas Strip, touring, and working on her debut album, “What It Is,” with some of music’s heaviest hitters like Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight. On January 15, 2016, Rosalee released her hotly anticipated single, “Just My Thang,” featuring Snoop Dogg which has reached #5 on the Billboard chart for retail single sales and #31 on the Urban Adult Contemporary radio chart.

Inspired by R&B/soul and funk, Rosalee has a soulful voice that has caught the attention of the Internet with her live Facebook chats and motivating messages that inspire her fans, better known as #SOULdiers. With over 180K followers on Twitter, over 50K followers on Instagram, and about 100,000 likes on Facebook, Rosalee is in constant contact with her #SOULdiers sharing her dreams and encouraging them to live out theirs.

The Soulful Singer Rosalee tells her inspirational story to Namita Nayyar, President – Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You were born and raised in in St. George, UT, where you dreamed of making your mark in the music industry. You finally got a chance at a break when music tycoon, David Foster, who has produced for legendary artists held a contest to find the next big star to accompany him on stage. From then on you have sung the national anthem at every sporting event from the NFL, NHL, NBA and even HBO & Showtime boxing events. One of the pinnacle of professional success was on January 15, 2016, when you released the hotly anticipated single, “Just My Thang,” featuring Snoop Dogg. Tell us about this professional journey of success that took you to where you are now in the world of singing?

Ms. Rosalee: Singing has always been a passion of mine. Growing up with little support, the dream seemed to be an intangible one, but I have always worked hard and never gave up on myself. I learned how to trust and believe in my strength. I feel so completely fortunate to have accomplished what I have thus far.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: In January 2016, you released your single, “Just My Thang,” featuring Snoop Dogg which has reached #5 on the Billboard chart for retail single sales and #31 on the Urban Adult Contemporary radio chart. How does it feel to have your song on the top of all the charts?

Ms. Rosalee: It’s surreal. When I get creative in the studio and try to come up with concepts for my music, I never have the intent of trying to chart in mainstream media. I like to focus on the art and then hopefully the universe will take it from there. Honestly, I have to thank my fans, my “SOULdiers” for the success of this song. They’ve been incredibly supportive and I couldn’t have done it without them.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you take some special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Rosalee: Yes. Currently I’m on a low-carb diet. I was on Paleo for a minute there, but I just can’t seem to stay away from cheese. I guess we can say I’m predominantly Paleo? LOL. I do like to splurge a little from time to time. Life’s too short!

Ms. Namita Nayyar: You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Do you take some kind of skin treatment to keep it young and glowing and secondly what you do to your hair to make them look so stunning?

Ms. Rosalee: Thank you for the compliment! First of all, I stay on top of my vitamins. I think everything healthy starts from within. I take multivitamins, fish oil, and probiotics on a daily basis. I wash my hair every other day and I try to let it air dry for the most part. I like to save all the torture they do to my hair for photo and video shoots. My skincare regimen is pretty basic. Wash in the morning and wash at night with drugstore products, nothing fancy. Although lately I have been masking once a week with this Indian healing clay mask that I mix with apple cider vinegar. That seems to really get all the impurities out of my pores.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may wish to share?

Ms. Rosalee: I just bought a Bowflex Max Trainer and that machine has been kicking my booty. I love it! It works everything! And because I’m so pressed for time, it only requires 14 mins to complete its HIIT session. I’ll usually end my routine with some abs and will occasionally throw in some arms or legs.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Elaborate about your experience on working with Snoop Dogg for your hit single “Just My Thang” ?

Ms. Rosalee: When I was working on my album, Snoop was in the studio working with my producer on a couple of his own projects. He just happened to hear some of my music and dug what he heard. He expressed to my producer that he wanted to do some stuff on the track with me. When I heard this news I about lost it. I’ve always been such a huge fan of Snoop’s.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Your website and blog http://rosaleemusic.com/ talks about your life inspired by R&B/soul and funk that has caught the attention of the Internet inspiring thousands of fans, better known as #SOULdiers. Tell us about the catalyst that drives you to inspire so many?

Ms. Rosalee: I’m a dreamer and I grew up in a small town where I didn’t have a lot of support or opportunities to live out my dream. It wasn’t easy being in that environment. Some people would’ve just given up. I was alone and I realized that I was the only one that was going to make my dreams come true. I was an army of one and that’s why I like to refer to my fans as SOULdiers. If I can achieve, so can anybody else.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Do you have any future plans of becoming an actress or model like the other famous singers?

Ms. Rosalee: You never know, but for right now I’m just focusing on my music. I’m putting all my energy in climbing this mountain first but you never know what’s around the corner? Life certainly has a way of throwing us some curveballs.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding singers, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of singing?

Ms. Rosalee: Never give up. Also, keep in mind that all us have our own unique sound. Our own unique voice. So try not to compare yourself to anyone. There’s always going to be someone out there that you feel is a little better than you but keep in mind those are the ones that teach us the most.

Ms. Namita Nayyar: With an audience of over 180k followers on your Twitter account and another 50k on Instagram has made you a social media sensation and an internet icon. Tell us more about this internet craze phenomena and how does it feel to be able to influence the lives of so many individuals?

Ms. Rosalee: First of all I’m flattered. I can’t believe how much my fanbase has grown! It’s completely gratifying to see how many people are going through this process with me. It’s feels like we’re all growing together.
