Dubbed “the next big thing” by People Magazine, teen songstress Skylar Stecker is quickly proving the title true. As the youngest artist signed to Cherrytree Records (which developed Lady Gaga and Ellie Goulding), Stecker has already hit #1 on the Billboard dance chart — twice, raked in over 28 million views on YouTube, and has even performed on the Today Show as Elvis Duran’s “Rising Artist of the Month.”

Now fresh off a summer radio tour with artists like Miley Cyrus and Fifth Harmony, Stecker has released her most mature single to date, “Blame” and a spectacular holiday song “This Year”. The bold new dance track shows a more grown-up side of Skylar and perfectly reflects her evolution as an artist. Her full length album is due out in February 2018.

Lets hear more from the popstar sensation herself in an exclusive interview with Women Fitness.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Your career began to take shape when you performed at the 2012 International Modeling & Talent Association Awards in Los Angeles where you were awarded the best singer and most sought after talent. Since then you have been performing extremely well. Walk us through your spectacular journey and tell us how it all began?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

My journey began quite a bit differently then most. When I was 9 years old, I signed myself up for a school talent show to play the piano. They already had too many piano players so they asked me to sing instead. A week later, I performed it in front of my school and instantly knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. From there, I started doing national anthems anywhere and everywhere I could and by the time I was 10 I was performing for the Clippers, Lakers, Packers…to name a few. Then I began writing my own music from my piano, went into a studio in Wisconsin and recorded a bunch of original material. I pleaded with my parents to move to LA, hoping to gain more opportunities and exposure. Eventually, my persistence and hard work paid off! Since moving to California, I have continued to release original music, toured all over the US and have continued to grow as an artist and as a person. I am so grateful for all the amazing experiences I have had thus far. I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface yet on what I want to accomplish and am so excited for what the future holds.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Introduce us to a day in your life.

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

My typical day starts with a morning work out. At lunch time, I eat a plant based lunch and hit my garage. My parents put up a big mirror in there so that I could run my shows and rehearse rather than going to a dance studio everyday. If I have a recording session or photo shoot we drive 2 hours to get to LA. Since I am home schooled, on the way there and back I do my schoolwork. Usually I end up getting home around 8, eat dinner, and then finish my day with watching Grey’s Anatomy.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine that you may like to share?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

I have been into fitness since I was very young. My dad use to play football so being athletic and doing my best to stay healthy has always been a part of my lifestyle. I have tried many things but what I am loving right now is Orange Theory and Soul Cycle! I feel like Orange Theory gives me a great full body work out incorporating weights and Soul Cycle gives me my cardio.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Being a vegetarian for 5 years and vegan since January 2015, what does your diet consist of?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

I have always loved animals, so it never felt right to eat them. This made becoming Vegan a pretty easy decision for me. My family supported my decision and are now all Vegan as well. We recently started this meal plan that we all love called “Purple Carrot”. It makes it easy because you don’t have to think about what’s for dinner or how to make it. Its all right there in the box. 😉

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Share with us your hair care and skin care routine?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

My hair is long and thick so I honestly don’t do much with it besides wash it and let it air dry. I always try to use a deep conditioner so my hair doesn’t get too dry and crazy like a lions mane.

For my skin, my mom has taught me that less is more. I love Paula’s Choice skin care! They don’t use perfumes or added ingredients. I just wash my face, apply an AHA Gel and their oil free SPF. That’s it! On glam days, I just let the make-up and hair people do pretty much whatever look they want because its fun to try new things and new products when doing a shoot.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Who has been your greatest inspiration and motivator in your success in the field of your career?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

My mom! She comes with me to everything and is such an amazing role model. She keeps everything fun and reminds me to always stay true to who I am.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

At such a young age, you are committed towards living a healthy lifestyle. What factors made you chose this lifestyle?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

Being able to put on a good performance depends on how you feel and in order for me to feel my best, I try to stay balanced. That means eating clean, sleeping 8 hours and exercising at least 4 times a week.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With the amount of traveling and social events that you have to attend, how do you manage to eat healthy and workout regularly?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

I try to get my workouts in right when I get up which can be tricky, but I do my best. Eating healthy is the hardest part! Although, fast food restaurants have really started to step up their game and offer some healthier options.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding singers who all are your fans, they shall like to know from you, what they should do for their climb to ladder of success in this field?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

My advice is to Dare to Dream and don’t stop there. Practice every single day and perform everywhere and anywhere you can! Feedback, positive or negative, will help you grow and get better!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have recently released a new single, “Blame” and another Christmas single called “This Year”. Tell us more about these two. How has the journey been creating your new album?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

‘Blame’ is flirtatious and definitely shows a more confident feeling lyrically and sound-wise than my past material. It’s also a good representation of the new music I have in store for 2018!

‘This Year’ on the other hand, is fun, loving and festive!I am incredibly proud of both and excited that the feedback has been well received!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

With a massive following who look up to you and follow you, how does it feel that you are able to influence and inspire the healthy lifestyle of so many individuals?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

I am so grateful for their support. They inspire me to be better everyday! I want them to know that I am just like them, trying to learn and grow everyday as an artist and as a person and that we are all on this journey together!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and message for our visitors on Christmas?

Ms. Skylar Stecker:

I love the saying “Forget the past, live in the present and the future will take care of itself.” Women fitness helps us be our best self today and stop looking in the rear view mirror! Lets go into 2018 proud of who we are today!
