Namita Nayyar:

You won the Miss World Pageant in 2016 making history as a person of Puerto Rican origin who has won the Miss World title.  How do you feel about this historic moment?

Stephanie Del Valle:

It was an incredible honor to have won the title of Miss World. I am so blessed to have held this title, to have used it to spread kindness and compassion all over the world, as well as to letting the world know about Puerto Rico.  At that moment, I didn’t realize that being only 19 years old, competing against 116 other contestants and winning the title of Miss World would be such a great feat. Now I look back and I couldn’t be prouder of what I have accomplished for myself and for my country.

Namita Nayyar:

After a groundbreaking win, you became the most successful Miss World in its history, raising over $40 Million dollars for charity. You were also chosen as the only Ambassador to date for the Beauty with a Purpose Foundation.  How were you able to achieve this and how do you feel about your accomplishments with this noble charitable cause?

Stephanie Del Valle:

When I won the title and began my duties as Miss World 2016, I gave my heart and soul to Beauty with a Purpose. I traveled to different countries raising funds and giving back in every way that we could. I didn’t know the extent of my work until after I crowned my successor. I was completely shocked when they announced the tally of the funds for charity that had been raised. Shortly after, the Miss World organization offered me the position as the first ever Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador, whose job was to accompany the reigning Miss World and continue promoting Beauty with a Purpose worldwide. I think I must have done something well, Right?

Namita Nayyar:

You have started a new career in Hollywood. Tell us more about it.

Stephanie Del Valle:

I have always had a love for performing. Acting, singing, dancing… I love it all! Now being able to properly pursue a career in something that I love so much is an incredible honor. My move to Hollywood is my next big frontier. Now, we are lucky enough to live in an age where TV and film are available on multiple and different platforms.

Namita Nayyar:

You are a leading media personality, international top model, actress, singer, and philanthropist and brand ambassador. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Stephanie Del Valle:

It’s all part of the package that comes with the exposure. Luckily, I’ve been able to develop myself in all these different aspects that I love. Most of the time, it doesn’t even feel like work. As the saying goes: “When you chose a job that you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life!”

Namita Nayyar:

Getting to fitness: Tell us about the workout routine you follow on a day-to day basis with all the traveling that is involved.

Stephanie Del Valle:

Traveling makes having a daily routine very difficult, especially with jet lag and the constant changing of time zones. However, because of this, you have to be more aware of your diet, hydration and making the most of your free time to exercise in whichever way you can. This includes using the gym, your hotel room, inside the airplane, walking around the city or in an airport; you name it! Now that I have the time, I go to the gym every day and do my routine with a personal trainer. I also enjoy watching @hybridcalesthenics on TikTok. He is very positive in his approach towards getting people to live a healthy and an active lifestyle, which I think is awesome.

Namita Nayyar:

Is weightlifting part of your routine?

Stephanie Del Valle:

Not every day but yes! Lately I’ve been doing more calisthenics as I try to get back into shape.

Namita Nayyar:

How many times a week do you work out?

Stephanie Del Valle:

I try to exercise at least 5 days a week, but it depends on my schedule.

Namita Nayyar:

Which body and health influencers do you follow?

Stephanie Del Valle:

I love Chloe Ting. Her YouTube videos are the best! Especially when traveling because you don’t need much equipment to do her routine, only a large enough space and good energy.

Namita Nayyar:

An optimum balanced diet is a significant factor to look and feel your best. What is your diet routine when preparing for a competition?

Stephanie Del Valle:

When I competed for Miss World, I was on a very strict diet (because I’m a sucker for sweets). I woke up early enough every day so I could have 3 meals and 3 snacks a day.  I also made sure that drank enough water, while balancing gym and pageant training.  Everything was perfectly measured out so I could get to my end goal as fast as possible. Sometimes this even entailed going the gym twice a day! Now, I don’t follow much of a diet, but I watch what I eat and try to opt for the healthiest options. Lately, I have also been strongly considering going vegan.

Namita Nayyar:

What foods do you love to eat, would advise for women to eat?

Stephanie Del Valle:

I love chickpeas because they’re so versatile! You can blend them and make humus, air fry them and get a nutritious, crunchy snack. You can even eat them straight out the can in a salad. They’re definitely a staple in my diet.

Namita Nayyar:

What 5 foods do you avoid in your diet?

Stephanie Del Valle:

Aside from avoiding junk food as much as possible, I avoid dairy products and red meat the most. As much as I love them, I always feel heavy and bloated after I eat them.

Namita Nayyar:

Modeling as a career can be both demanding and stressful along with the factor of glamour. How have you coped with all of that?

Stephanie Del Valle:

Modeling is as demanding as any other job. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, designers…we all share the demands and stress that our jobs bring on. The best way to balance everything is to have hobbies that help you relax. I love to paint, to draw and to sing whenever I feel overwhelmed. If I have a chance to stay at home in my pj’s, to wear no makeup and watch a movie, I will take advantage of it! Take time to enjoy the simple things in life.

Namita Nayyar:

Share 5 tips with up and coming models

Stephanie Del Valle:
  1. Discipline is your best friend! Be always on time.
  2. Focus on your objective.
  3. It’s not about you, it’s about the clothes.
  4. Care and protect your fellow models.
  5. Always be kind with everyone working on the project (makeup artist, photographers, designers, etc.)
Namita Nayyar:

What advice or motivational words do you have for aspiring and budding models and for your fans who would like to learn from you on how to climb the ladder of success into the field of modeling?

Stephanie Del Valle:

If you believe it, you can achieve it! That has been my motto since I began my modeling career in 2015; even before knowing where I would end up. All obstacles that might be standing in your way are not there to discourage you. They are there to help you grow, to get stronger in your field and to help you reach your goals. Don’t give up. Keep trying, because you never know what life has in store.

Namita Nayyar:

What health supplements do you take and feel are important?

Stephanie Del Valle:

I take are large doses of Vitamin C and Zinc because constant traveling takes a toll on your immune system. These help my immune system stay in the best shape possible for travel.  Even though this is not a supplement, I also drink lots of water. H2O is your best friend!

Namita Nayyar:

You have flawless skin and shiny hair. Can you share with us your daily skin and hair routine?

Stephanie Del Valle:

The first thing to do is to drink water. In order to have healthy hair and skin, you also need to make sure you that are giving your body the nutrients it needs! Since I live in a tropical island, I never leave the house without SPF. The best things you need for healthy skin are SPF, a good moisturizer and a good cleanser. Try to avoid products with essential oils since they can be harmful to the skin over time even though they may smell great! As for hair, the best thing I can say is to use the best products available for healthy hair. Olaplex and Moroccan Oil products are some of my favorite.

Namita Nayyar:

After becoming Miss World what social issues/causes did you work on?

Stephanie Del Valle:

In order to compete as Miss World, every contestant must bring a Beauty with a Purpose project that impacts their country. When I competed, I worked with a foundation called Lily’s Angels. Their mission is to provide early intervention therapies for babies with Down Syndrome from ages 0-4 years of age. I started my work with them when I was 17 and still in high school. Once I decided to compete for Miss World, I thought of what I could do to impact the lives of these children and that Lily’s Angels wasn’t offering. I had the idea of combining two things I adored, music and these angels, to create a program of music therapy for the children to work on their oral, motor, cognitive and other skills in a fun way. It was a huge success. During my reign as Miss World I continued to support my project.

As Miss World, I also took on the task of supporting projects of previous winners and contestants. Some of the work we did included visiting Iowa and taking part of the Variety Children’s Charity annual 24-hour telethon where we broke records by raising $4.2 million USD. We went to South Africa to work with the Rise Against Hunger Foundation packing 750,000 food parcels to be distributed to early childhood development centers across the country on International Nelson Mandela Day. We also provided the funds to buy school equipment such as computers, projectors and monitors for a school in the landfills of Smokey Mountain as a road towards a modern education and an end to the cycle of poverty of these children.  In addition, we hosted a charity gala in Puerto Rico to raise funds for the first ever pediatric liver and kidney transplant unit in Puerto Rico for the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital. That event was held during the week between Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, so the funds raised ended up going towards the reconstruction of the hospital after the hurricanes. Those are just a few of the projects I was lucky enough to be a part of during my reign as Miss World. Then, as Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador, I was able to accompany my successors on their trips and was able to continue to share our legacy with the world.

Namita Nayyar:

Mention 5 things that we can find in your gym bag?

Stephanie Del Valle:

Five items in my gym bag include a towel, water, headphones, a snack like an apple or mixed nuts and now, because of COVID, hand sanitizer.

Namita Nayyar:

What are the top 5 travel destinations that you absolutely love?

Stephanie Del Valle:

That is a tricky question because every place that I have visited so far has had something special that makes it unique. Some interesting travel destinations I would recommend would be Phuket (Thailand), Singapore, Hong Kong, Tangier (Morocco) and anywhere in Spain.

Namita Nayyar:

Send a message to all of your lovely fans on Instagram at @stephdvd.

Stephanie Del Valle:

I would like to say hi to all my fans on Instagram. Thank you always for the incredible amount of love and support I receive. I can always count on you to continue to share and spread the messages I put out into the world. Thank you for everything. Stay safe! This will all go back to normal hopefully sooner than we think.
