Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar catches up with Tania Watson an exceptionally talented film and television actress here she talks about her fitness routine, her diet, her beauty secrets and success story.

Namita Nayyar:

Where were you born? You did higher studies, EAC from 2005 to 2009. You had training in 2010 Shakespeare, LAMDA, and Royal Shakespeare Company, John Link, in 2012 CNTC Spanish Classical Theatre. Natalia Menendez, Vicente Fuentes, Rennier Pinero, and from 2017-19 Direction of actors. With Maria Ripoll, Miguel Ángel Vivas and Manuel Martín Cuenca. This later propelled your career to the height where you have been at the top of the world of acting and won the Best Actress Award for CARGA at the Heart of England Film Festival. Tell us more about your professional journey of exceptional hard work, tenacity, and endurance.

Tania Watson:

I was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. My father is from Canarias and my mother is English. It sounds like a lot, but it doesn’t seem like it’s enough for me. I’m proud of every step I took and I’ve learned from every experience, whether is learning what I want or what I don’t want. Acting is a beautiful profession yet is also very emotionally draining.

I’ve had to learn a lot about myself and still learning how to be patient. A lot of actors give up along the way, and I don’t blame them, I’ve had my doubts too… I’ve had to look away and not obsess about it, maybe give it a little break. Actually my workout routine and my training in martial arts have kept me grounded on many occasions when I wanted to give up. Right now I’m experiencing one of my happiest moments in my field, and I hope that keeps on growing.

Namita Nayyar:

You acted in the film CARGA (2018) and won the Best Actress Award at the Heart of England Film Festival. Tell us more about this spectacular achievement of yours.

Tania Watson:

I started this project thanks to director Yad Deen, who has been a dear friend and colleague for many years. I made good Kurdish friends and it’s one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Probably that reads in the final cut of the film, which made it win so many awards and recognitions around the world. I’m really proud of each and every member of the team.

Namita Nayyar:

You have acted in the television series The Minions of Midas (2020), and Now and Then (2022) and also play an important character in the second season of the series THE HEAD (premiered on HBO Max on the 22nd of December 2022). Tell us more about your role in the upcoming series and the professional quench as an actress you achieve in working in these award-winning earlier television series.

Tania Watson:

I’m really excited about the release of The Head, it has been one of my favorite roles to play. Erika is a determined, strategic woman. Intelligent and good hearted. Also quite lonely and shy, keeping it all to herself.

She tries her best to keep her emotions under control so as soon as the story unravels she’s going to have to work hard not to lose it! I’m so proud of all my colleagues; they’ve done such an amazing job. I’m really honored to have worked with them and hope will do again. I believe that being surrounded by such talented actors made me want to do my best.

Namita Nayyar:

You are the leading film actress, television star, and theater artist. How do you manage such a remarkable multi-dimensional lifestyle?

Tania Watson:

Seeing it written like this sounds like a lot! But I can’t get enough… I guess it takes time to build your routine and get to be efficient with the time that you have. Giving myself treats and rewards also keeps me pushing forward. I set small goals to achieve throughout the day, that way it makes me feel more productive and keeps me going wanting for more and wanting to reach higher objectives.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Tania Watson:

I started my passion for working out only about 7 years ago. Before it was just something I had to do to feel healthier. In my experience having to learn a specific discipline, in my case martial arts, makes it easier to then want to have a better body so I can train further in my art. I work a lot of flexibility, especially on my hips and hamstrings and train weights especially on my upper body.

Namita Nayyar:

How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.

Tania Watson:

Apart from having a routing of doing 50 repetitions on each section of my abs, I’m lately doing more isometric exercises. That and boxing, K1… It has your whole body committed to the exercise.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Tania Watson:

I love cooking and eating. I’m not super strict, but I have changed my habits over the years… I think changing food habits is a more natural way to achieve the body you want. I do intermittent fasting having an 8h window to eat… then again around the holidays and special occasions I do skip it.

During those 8 hours I have a big breakfast, always the same: fruit, soy yogurt and cereals that keeps me going through the whole morning. For lunch I also have a generous meal which varies but I do try to put in there a healthy mix of protein, vegetables and carbs. Depending on the day and how much I’ve done, before my 8h window closes I might have a little snack… usually a cup of green tea with some fruit or toast…

Namita Nayyar:

Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.

Tania Watson:

Fruit, any! Love it! Sushi, a good Sunday roast, a lush salad… it changes from time to time but I love a big bowl with a mix of different vegetables and a good dressing, marmite… you love it or you hate it… and I love it! There’s some food I really need to keep to a minimum: gummy bears, fries with ketchup, bread, pasta, pizza… whenever I make homemade pizza (the dough, the sauce) it has to be a special occasion, I could have it every day!

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.

Tania Watson:

I have atopic skin so since I was a teen I’ve been very careful with which products I use. I change my skincare products every now and then but for sure I use natural serums and creams. I use this app to see how natural is the composition of the products to make sure I only get good nutrients.

Of course I use sunscreen and a very soft shampoo with no harmful chemicals in it. However, a good friend of mine, a makeup artist, told me that to help the creams really work on your skin you should keep yourself hydrated and avoid smoking and drinking.

Namita Nayyar:

Being before the camera while shooting for a film or while doing theater involves long hours of being under heavy makeup. Kindly give a few makeup tips and what you practice post-makeup at night to keep the skin, hair, and eyes safe.

Tania Watson:

Of course, removing all make up is mandatory. Either you remove it on set or I have my own make up remover. I use a nice tonic for after and if I remember, which I don’t always do, I use a serum for the night. As I said I have a very soft shampoo I can use every day. That’s very useful when I’m shooting since every day you have product on your hair.

Namita Nayyar:

Five athletic leisure brands you love to wear.

Tania Watson:

I don’t think I have a favorite athletic leisure brand, to be honest. For most of my training I use my Japanese gi.

Namita Nayyar:

Five travel destinations on your wish list.

Tania Watson:

Top 1 is Japan for sure. Iceland, Germany, Peru, Cuba.

Namita Nayyar:

You as an acting artist work in Films, Television Series, Theater, and Short Films. Which medium of entertainment do you enjoy doing the most and why?

Tania Watson:

It changes from time to time, it comes in waves… If I’ve been doing a lot of theatre then I can’t wait to be in front of a camera. Now I’m more for camera work and I’m excited about longer projects, so maybe a TV series.

Namita Nayyar:

You were nominated for Best Actress for PRIMAN LOS BESOS on FIBABC. How do such honors and nominations act as catalysts to motivate you to reach greater heights in the field of acting?

Tania Watson:

I always compete with myself and want to improve the woman I was yesterday. However having an external point of view, recognizing your work is valuable always adds so much more to my motivation.

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and the message for its visitors?

Tania Watson:

Women fitness website is a complete database to explore every aspect of your health. You’re doing an amazing job providing all this information for women.

All you need to do is get to know yourself and see what works for you. Not every exercise and every diet is for everybody. But I’m sure you can find your right routine at women fitness.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding actresses, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of acting?

Tania Watson:

I don’t know that I can give advice… but I will say that life is not fair, you can work really hard and not get what you deserve. So work hard on yourself, to be the best version of yourself. That way you will never lose.

Namita Nayyar:

Today social media plays a vital role in putting your message across to your followers and fans. What is your message to the social media followers on Instagram?

Tania Watson:

Social media is a very powerful tool. I’d say, don’t believe everything you see… It’s partially true, but there’s so much more out there.
