Namita Nayyar:

You were born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in the US. You attended O’Gorman Catholic High School and then studied at Creighton University and Louisiana State University. You ended your high school career with 1,137 kills, 744 digs, and two state volleyball titles. This later propelled your career to the height where you have been at the top of the world as a beach volleyball player. Tell us more about your professional journey of exceptional hard work, tenacity, and endurance?

Taryn Kloth:

I started playing beach volleyball as a means to an end to get my MBA at LSU and fell in love with the game. I had never played or trained beach volleyball before coming down here. It has been a lot of hard work, dedication, and passion to get to this point but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The hard work makes the good times better and makes the low times doable to keep pushing through to the next breakthrough. I love the challenge and I want to continue to challenge myself and my limits for a lifetime! I am so thankful for my coaches and teammates that have dumped so much time and energy into making me the player that I am.

Namita Nayyar:

It is a dream for a beach volleyball player to play in the Beach Volleyball World Championships. You won a bronze medal in the 2023 Beach Volleyball World Championships that was held in Tlaxcala, Apizaco, and Huamantla, Mexico from 6 to 15 October 2023. Tell us more about this spectacular achievement of yours?

Taryn Kloth:

This was the first and only World Championship event that we qualified for and that in itself was exciting and then to walk away with a medal from the event was so special. There was a lot on the line and we were down in the medal match – I will never forget working together with my best friend and teammate to find a way to win after a long 2 weeks of playing in Mexico.

Namita Nayyar:

You were named the South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year in 2014. How does such honour being bestowed upon you act as a catalyst in your metriotic rise as a world leading beach volleyball player?

Taryn Kloth:

Although I am much honored to be considered for awards, they are not make or break. I believe it’s the small choices that you choose day in and day out that lead to success.

Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine you may wish to share?

Taryn Kloth:

We are typically on the sand 4/5 days a week and in the gym 4 days a week to weight lifts. Without realizing it, we are basically living 75 hard, but it is ingrained in my lifestyle so it is now my normal.

Namita Nayyar:

How do you train your abs? One secret to your toned body.

Taryn Kloth:

DIET, your nutrition makes the biggest difference.

Namita Nayyar:

Do you take a special diet or have a strict menu that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Taryn Kloth:

I try to stick to a high protein, vegetable and carb for each of my meals. I love to start the day with a lot of protein to get me going. Now, I am working on letting myself enjoy the meals at restaurants and desserts occasionally. I do prefer to eat at home so I know exactly what I am eating.

Namita Nayyar:

Five foods you absolutely love and five you keep to a minimum.

Taryn Kloth:

5 foods I love! – Protein ice cream in my ninja creamy, cottage cheese, yogurt, avocados and sourdough toast.

Foods I keep to a minimum: Chocolate chip cookies are my weakness.

Namita Nayyar:

You have glowing skin and gorgeous hair. Share with us your hair care and skincare routine.

Taryn Kloth:

I am loving my Dermalogica skin care routine. I am very diligent in my mornings to apply vitamin C and SPF50 every morning and at night I use toner, collagen, and moisturizer. I am starting to get into dermaplaning – done by a professional.
As for my hair, Amika products are my go to! I have been using them for years!

Namita Nayyar:

You must have a Coach who has been a catalyst who helped you pave the way to rise in your career with discipline and a never stopping attitude. Elaborate about his/her influence on your professional life?

Taryn Kloth:

Yes, I have been blessed to be influenced by so many great coaches in my life from high school, to Creighton, to LSU and beyond. Coaches can make or break an experience. My current coach has a great gift of perspective and when I am really struggling he can share the reality of the situation with his fresh perspective.

Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about a day in the life of ‘Taryn Kloth’.

Taryn Kloth:

Sleep until 8/8:15. I like to get up and have to make my bed immediately. I warm up my coffee machine, get ready for the day, make some breakfast, do some work on the computer. Around 10 am I am in the gym for a workout, and then I go home and rinse off and change my clothes. I make and eat lunch around 12 and then I have meetings or calls with sponsors, my agent, my teammate, and/or family. Then I am off to practice from 2:45-5:15. After practice, I come home to shower and begin to make dinner. I am usually eating with my wonderful fiancé around 6/6:30 and then we try to put our phones away for the night to catch up and then bed by 10pm.

Namita Nayyar:

During the Covid pandemic. Tell us more about your routine to remain fit in those challenging times?

Taryn Kloth:

This was such a tough time. I was very motivated to continue my athletic and fitness goals so I was working out twice a day with my little sister. We would play volleyball, go for walks, do yoga, anything and everything to keep moving.

My school was moved to online, so I would have that on the daily schedule as well. Those times were huge for my beach volleyball growth, there was nothing else going on so I dedicated countless hours to training in the gym and on the sand with my coach and current teammate. We were in a grind time, as I said there was nothing else to do and I can’t sit still so used I that down time to my advantage.

Namita Nayyar:

In sports like beach volleyball how was you able to overcome any physical or sports injury setbacks and what advices can you give to those in a similar situation.

Taryn Kloth:

There will ALWAYS be setbacks. They are never fun, they are very hard, but they are bound to happen. I have broken bones, twisted ankles, and sat out from injury a fair bit. It is taking it day by day and still giving you challenges and new checkpoints to look forward to.

Namita Nayyar:

What do you wish to say about the website Womenfitness.net and the message for its visitors?

Taryn Kloth:

If something scares you – do it! Dreams should scare you and if they don’t they are not big enough.

Namita Nayyar:

Advice and motivational words to the inspiring and budding beach volleyball girls, who all are your fans and shall like to know from you for their climb to the ladder of success in the field of playing Rugby?

Taryn Kloth:

Play as much as you can. Play up and lose. Learn about your game and continue to challenge yourself. Don’t keep practicing all the things that you are good at, do whatever is the biggest challenge for you.

Namita Nayyar:

You have an impressive Instagram following of 43k followers. A message for your ardent admirers.

Taryn Kloth:

I am just a girl that loves to travel, loves her family and friends, loves to meet new people and hear their stories. I happen to play beach volleyball around the world with my best friend too!
