Fitness Model Venessa Nieto Talks About Her Incredible Transformation

Venessa Nieto

Venessa Nieto is a popular fitness model born and raised in Southern California, USA. Boasting a curvy, lean, and fit figure, Venessa is an inspiration for a large number of her followers. However, Venessa wasn’t always the fit and healthy shape she’s famed for.

Growing up, Venessa was extremely ‘skinny,’ saying; “I was always the skinniest person in high school. I was made fun of all through grade school for being little and could never figure out how to gain weight.” Venessa tried various methods to gain weight, from drinking ‘gainer’ shakes, to trying at-home workouts. However, nothing she’d tried worked.

It wasn’t until Venessa stepped into the gym when her physique, and life, finally began to change for the better. After years of weightlifting, Venessa gained over 30 pounds of lean muscle on her frame.

Ever since then, she’s become famous for her awesome figure and enviable discipline in the gym. As Venessa says; “I’m now 120lb and hoping to continue to grow because of my weight training. It’s so fun to create something out of nothing and I love helping others do the same.”

Women Fitness President, Namita Nayyar, talks to the social media influencer & celebrity fitness trainer about her passion for fitness.
Namita Nayyar:

Today in 2019 you are the official First Lady and Face of the Alliance Entertainment Group, spokes model and Brand Ambassador & Celebrity Fitness Trainer. Becoming a fitness model must have taken a lot of hard work and determination. Tell us about your journey towards fitness?

Venessa Nieto:

My journey towards fitness started around the age of 20 where I had to face many traumatic issues in my life. On top of these issues I was dealing with, I was extremely unhappy with my body. I think that we all go through hard times at some point in our life but how we choose to deal with them will determine our success for the future. I took these battles and used them as fuel to my fitness journey. Fitness helped me become stronger mentally and physically. This became a addiction for me as the more I worked on my body, the better my overall life became with my career, relationships and health.

Namita Nayyar:

You had once said, “I was always the skinniest person in high school. I was made fun of all through grade school for being little and could never figure out how to gain weight” and go on to gain over 30 pounds of lean muscle. How did your transformation take place? How long and number of hours of training help you achieve this goal?

Venessa Nieto:

Going into my journey I never tracked any of my weight or time spent in the gym constantly looked for results. Someone told me if I stuck to the plan it would work so that’s what I did. Since I made that decision I had to put it in my head that was my new lifestyle. That was the ultimate thing that got me to my goal was knowing in my head I strongly believed I could gain the weight. Once you believe you can do it, you will. Hang out with others who are looking for similar goals, create a routine and stick to it.

Namita Nayyar:

What does your favorite workout routine look like?

Venessa Nieto:

I absolutely love training legs and glutes! Training lower body along with increasing weights always gives me a rush to just get stronger physically and mentally.

Namita Nayyar:

How does weight training change our body? 5 must-do exercises to build strong upper body?

Venessa Nieto:

Weight Training will strengthen your muscles and burn through the fat much faster than staying on a cardio only routine. For upper body I like to incorporate full body HIIT like burpees OR isolate muscle groups to really get each muscle to strengthen and show overall.

Namita Nayyar:

Before starting strength training, what are the key points to keep in mind?

Venessa Nieto:

Key points I always tell my clients is if you are strength training –

  1. Eat 45 min before starting your workout – This is important so that you have the proper fuel to do a heavy workout
  2. Make sure you activate your muscles before starting any kind of strength training. You do not want to injure yourself because it can easily happen without knowing what to do!
  3. Make sure to consume that protein within 45 min after your workout!
  4. Always practice your form! Youtube, Instagram, Google, or purchase my 1 on 1 online training!  There are so much information on the web you can access to make sure you are doing everything correctly.
  5. Drink a gallon of water a day!

Cannot forget these 5 things!

Namita Nayyar:

What does your first meal of the day look like? 5 foods to kick start the day? 5 Foods every women should include in her diet?

Venessa Nieto:

My morning breakfast is either oats and eggs or eggs and potatoes with veggies or a fresh pressed juice. My meals are high in carbs so I wouldn’t recommend them to all females but I do think that every woman should incorporate fiber such as oats, veggies, protein in any form, detox drinks such as fresh pressed juice or detox organics and water!!

Namita Nayyar:

Do you advocate opting for cheat meals once a week? Cheat meals that you can’t resist? 2 Quick fixes that do more harm than good?

Venessa Nieto:

I always tell my clients that the closer you are to your goal, the more cheat meals you can have 😉 I think this is fair!

Namita Nayyar:

Three components that are key essentials in the workout routine of a person trying to gain some muscle?

Venessa Nieto:

Diet & exercise.

It’s very challenging to gain muscle if you are not aware of your caloric surplus. This means you need to be eating more than you are burning in order to gain. I never tracked my calories until later in my journey but I do recommend clients to do so in the beginning to see where they are going wrong in their diet and possibly not getting enough of the macros they need in order to grow. With the proper amount of macros for your body plus increasing weights as you train will get you to your goal of gaining lean muscle mass.

Namita Nayyar:

Your favorite active wear brands are?

Venessa Nieto:

My favorite active brand at the moment is Cute Booty Lounge! They are so comfortable and they make my body look sexy which motivates me to go to the gym the minute I put on the leggings. I think your active wear you wear is a huge part in what motivates you to get into the gym Haha! Use my code: Vanessa2 for 10% off

Namita Nayyar:

Define Women Fitness website for our viewers.

Venessa Nieto:

I love that Women Fitness Website gives another platform to help women who struggle all around the world. As a women I know how hard it is to deal with the pressure in todays world with celebrities, now Instagram shoving perfect bodies in our faces, its not as easy to attain as the media makes it seem. A lot of what we see on the web is not real so having these platforms like Women Fitness helps focus more on health and giving out the knowledge we need to get to a happy place within ourselves. Education is key and I love that they provide that!

Namita Nayyar:

Do you follow any skincare and hair care routine, after a sweaty workout?

Venessa Nieto:

Of course. I have very bad acne so it takes a lot for me to manage that. I make sure to consistently wipe my face as I train and immediately wash it with Regenerate Skin ABA cleanser. This is the only cleanser that keeps my acne away. As far as hair, you will just need to wash it more often if you’re training daily!

Namita Nayyar:

You have an incredible social media following on your account @venessanieto. What is the best and worst part about it?

Venessa Nieto:

The best part of being in the social media presence is I have a platform I can help others in whatever it may be. I am just a normal girl like everyone else out there so I face the same problems as many and I love the fact I can help women and men all over the world with my experience and positivity.  The worst part is I lose touch with reality and forget to just live in the moment and appreciate the life in front of me. I have to disconnect once in a while to spend time with family, friends and travel without constantly working on the next best photo.
